Gran Turismo 5: Academy Edition incl. all DLC packs for 29.99/£19.99

one little question:
will the car updates direct on the disk or must i go online to get cars like the Lamborghini Aventador or the new colors. i only (will) play gt5 offline and don't want to buy the academy edition if i have to go online to get the packages. i hope you understand my question, because i`m not an englishman. i hope this is not a so stupid first post. you are my only help! please answer.

From what Ive seen so far (and very little at that) it should all be the disc. Im in the same situation as you sneakerhead, I cant go online to get the content so hopefully all the content is on disc or else my purchase of this will be a waste of money.
 
Anyone knows if this edition have a code with DLC's or is in the disc? because i have the PAL version, and im gonna buy the game on UK, so its the UK version. I dont know if its compatible with my save from PAL.

Exist a lot of games with a Uk version and PAL version. Like Uncharted 2, if you have the UK version you only can buy the DLCs on UK Store, if you have the PAL version you only can buy on Europe Store and not in UK store.
 
There arent PAL and NTSC region, i know that. But exist the BLES code. Like i say, Uncharted 2 have PAL version with a BLES code and other UK version with other BLES code diferent. Uncharted 2 its only a exemple, exist more games like that.
 
I really can't wait to get this I come back from holiday the day after it comes out and I'm going to be playing on it as much as I can.

All the *stuff* till 2.07 update is on the disc, confirmed on PSBlog.

DLC codes are only few 100kb and they unlock you content on disc for in-game usage, same as for updates so far.

So, its confirmed the game have a coe for download the DLC? Nice.
 
Well that doesn't make a lot of sense if the content is already on disc and yet you need to go unlock them for use. I've brought other games which come bundled with dlc on disc and no online access is needed to unlock that content. Quite unnecessary to be honest.

I don't get that are you basically saying you have to go online to unlock all dlc's for use if so then I will be very dissapointed.

EDIT: Just checked on Playatation blog and it says you don't have to download it from PSN you just install it all on the disc like you normally would which is what I thought.

Really? I would like to know if that game form UK its compatible with my save. I hope so. And dont say again there are all equal and dont existe PAL and NTSC, bla bla bla... because the Saves Files are diferent.

That's what I just assumed from amar's post above. I hoping you don't have to go online because I don't have that option.

Well I found it on the comments by what I think are proper PS Blog staff or whatever they are I think and hope they are telling the truth (don't know where they got the info from but heres the link http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/07/25/gran-turismo-5-academy-edition-coming-soon/ just scroll down and look through the comments and you should find a post saying about this hope it helps 👍 and @Max Cavalera I don't think the normal GT5 game save is compatible but, I'm not an expert so I don't really know.
 
In my opinion, saves will be compatible and as long as the game is released under SCEE territory it shouldn't matter which country you buy it from.

However I know for sure the saves aren't compatible between disc and digital download version. Had this with Wipeout HD. They have a different code, but apparently that's the only reason they are not compatible, which is a complete failure on Sony's part.

Thanks for that jahhaj it makes things a bit clearer. Now all I have to do is wait for ozgameshop to ship my copy. Looking forward to trying out some of the touring cars and putting wheels on my standard rides.

I am going to give it a try - but will be making several backups before I do so. I am very much hoping I can install the Academy version and have my regular GT5 save work.

Thanks for that. I thought it would be the case as with many other games but its nice to have confirmation. My copy from ozgameshop has been dispatched in the last 24hrs so hoping to get it within a week. Looking forward to checking out Spa in my Minolta :).

I just wish I would've noticed it earlier that the DLC is unlocked using a voucher/PS Store. Wouldn't have bought it otherwise. Ironically I actually asked about this on the PS Blog but didn't check the response, so I can only blame myself.

If someone gets it (mine will arrive on Monday if I'm lucky) would they post here whether the voucher has an expiration date or not please?

The bonus DLC has an expiration date of 31-12-2015

BTW

My bonus DLC code does not work,instead my academy edition challenge code gives me all the bonus DLC.
I live in Holland and Holland is not on the list of countries that get the challenge so that may be the cause.

I will try the code on an English account.
 
Seems to be a really good deal. When you think about how much GT5 cost when it was launched and the cost of all the car and tack packs , it really does show how good a deal it is.
 
I am deleting my install data/patch data and will report back soon.

FYI: The DLC is not included on the disc, the game comes with a bunch of codes. And it's not even letting me redeem them :/

"The GT Academy Challenge competition will be exclusively open to purchasers of GT5: Academy Edition from 00:01GMT on 01 January, 2013, and will run until 23:59GMT on 31 January. Six winners will be selected from the in-game event. One winner will also be chosen from a live competition being held on the Nissan stand at the Paris Motor Show from 29 September to 14 October, 2012."
