Thanks RDK for some awesome photos.

It seems the camera is not moving along with the car, like real life camera rig shot.

For example:

I thought GT5 is capable to do that from some early screens taking by PD

I really hope there is an option on camera movement to take beautiful rig shot

In GT4 it was simply a matter of focusing on either the car or the landscape/ground as to which one the camera moved in relation to.

@ someone who has played the game - do the cars all have customisable performance body parts in the gt auto shop or just the "premium" cars, thanks mate.

Damage in Gran Turismo 5 shows up in three different levels, with specific differences in damage between Premium cars and Standard cars.

Performance Damage
Performance damage affects how the car performs based on calculating the physical effects of collisions and damage on various parameters. It affects vehicle stability and control, depending on the amount of damage taken. This level of damage affects both premium and standard cars.

Dirt, Scratches, and Dents
This is damage that can be visually seen, and involves the vehicle collecting dirt, scratches and dents. This level of damage affects both premium and standard cars.

Dislodging and Deformation of Body Panels
This third level of damage causes body panels to come loose or to deform from their original shapes. This level of damage affects premium cars only.

To achieve this effect in gt4 you just had to reduce the aperture time. I think it's still possible to do so in gt5

I'm hoping they've basically just copied Forza's photo mode, because it worked well. You could adjust shutter speed, blur, focus and aperture all independently and make the camera move with the car or keep it still.

You mean as in GT4 ? 💡

To me, the main thing is mechanical damage.
I want the consequences to be real, or as real as is possible with the licensing.

Funny how visual damage all of a sudden becomes less important when it doesn't appear to be present in the way it was promised to be (which I somehow doubt by the way, I think it will still be present in GT-mode on pro-physics).
Ofcourse mechanical damage and the effect it has on the handling of the car is the most important gameplay element but the visual damage is much more than disturbing eye-candy.
It's visual information as well, not just for your own car (as you will notice mechanical damage obviously) but for example online it could be crucial to notice whether an opponent has problems with his car, or whether a crash or cheating contact (cornering using the walls for example) has taken place.
And when I unintentionally (or intentionally for that matter) crash my car I'd rather it be as realistic as possible, and those who claim they never crash anyway are either lying or never drive on (and thus occasionally over) the limit.

I am dead serious. I like cars and love racing games, but never understood the whole buzz about the photomode.
Tell me, what do you do with your pictures after youve taken them?

Show off your skills online to show people how beautiful cars can be, Use them as your desktop background perhaps or maybe that's just me

Use them as desktop backgrounds. Seriously, it gets pretty difficult to find any background in extremely high resolutions (I'm thinking the Apple iMac 27's 2560x1440 display), but when you can have picture-perfect photos of any car in a number of beautiful locations, where you decide every minute detail, it doesn't really get much better/

I find this whole Tekken90 thing very strange, there is an awful lot of stuff he isn't showing, stuff that people really want to see, for what reason I don't know, only he knows, but I just think the whole thing is very strange.
Yeah man, my day is also 24h like yours, you know? :D

Are you uploading anything today ?

Hi everyone, I'm too busy today, I will upload today only Photo travel vid, more tommorow.

Here, I edited it for a darker look and less bright red on the car.

It's a lot better, congrats TheIshter 👍.

Some guys were saying that the cars need to show more reflections at night. I agree, but on the pic above it looks okay for me.

👍

damage is important, even if it's not done has we were led to believe...

Wait till you see the Alfa Brera if its premium you'll have a trouser accident lol
ahaha don't tell me... a friend of mine just got one.... black with red interiors (quite flashy...)... I have a "trouser accident" every time I get in it....:D

BTW where's RBK? I'm having a withdrawal symptom.....:ill:

im guessing its a glossy finish, might be why its not as reflective as... say metallic?

I suppose you are as your name says..

Hmm...
Well I could see some fun in taking pictures that would be used ingame in the menu when youre browsing through your owned cars. If thats even possible?

But other then that, no. I dont spend time looking at pictures of cars in different situations, not unless theres at least one woman along with it. And even then i keep thinking "why did they have to put a car in there".

Movies, though, i love movies from games that contain cars....Or i love movies from ONE game that contain cars....

He said he was stopping for today

Hmm ive just read about 20 pages of bitching about the damage :grumpy:
wasnt a pretty sight guys 👎

Could it be that the more advanced damage settings are unlocked as your go through the career?

Awesome. 👍 You'll have to let us know if there's an option to put more than one car in the photo.

It'd be cool to have a parking garage or the New York setting and select the cars parked or something. Also: are their options to open the doors, trunk, hood, turn lights on and off, etc?
