Umm... yeah! :D I didn't play enough of GT4 to get to the photo mode.

Here's a guy who's never admired a picture of a car in a magazine before.

I have but not in recent years. And btw, wouldnt you guys be out scavaging the net for real pictures of real cars instead, your bound to find some that look alot better then anything GT5 can produce, are you not?

And it is probably a nightmare to get a damage model everyone is happy with.

I think Kaz didn't want to go down this path because he knew how much of a pain this would be. He knew people would compare his damage model to games like Grid.

I know what's up. I bet mr Y is just such a brilliant driver that he doesn't even understand the concept of damage. He's a bit like me in that regard.. perfect driving lines, nobody can touch me. "What do you mean 'crash'?"

Anyway, I agree with everything you said, don't really care about damage myself.. if I can have the Time Trial demo with more cars and tracks, I'll be so happy I will not know what to do with myself. And if there's one thing that's clear by now, the game is quite easy on the eyes.. unbreakable cars fit in just fine with the perfect alternate reality that is GT5. In the words of Alex from A Clockwork Orange (another masterpiece from another perfectionist auteur): "Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!"

Hmm ive just read about 20 pages of bitching about the damage :grumpy:
wasnt a pretty sight guys 👎

Could it be that the more advanced damage settings are unlocked as your go through the career?

I dont know man, but i know there is more damage than that just have to wait and see.

ahaha don't tell me... a friend of mine just got one.... black with red interiors (quite flashy...)... I have a "trouser accident" every time I get in it....:D

BTW where's RBK? I'm having a withdrawal symptom.....:ill:

Haha i must admit that does sound rather sexual lol, I wish we could pick spec's when buying a car on GT :(

im guessing its a glossy finish, might be why its not as reflective as... say metallic?

You can notice from other pictures from the same Ferrari California that it has a glossy color.

Regarding damage, I think it gets more severe as you progress through the GT Mode, because cosmetic damage implies mechanical damage, and mechanical damage isn't suitable for a beginner.

To achieve this effect in gt4 you just had to reduce the aperture time. I think it's still possible to do so in gt5

If I reduce the shutter speed, it will lose the purpose of take motion blur photos.

The reason I bring this up is many people in photomode community are big fan of motion blur photos that the car is very sharp while the background is blurred. It is possible when the camera location is far from the car, but when the camera is near to the car, the car cannot be focused fully because the camera is not moving with the car, like the rig setup in real life.

Some early GT4 photos are like taking from the rig too, but the final game cannot be done. Like this one,

Since there are so many motion photos (GT5) taking by PD, I still have faith the final build of GT5 can take beautiful motion photos. All we need is time to explore the options.

It would kinda make sense considering the different types of damage are listed on the official site. From a gameplay standpoint its just to help the learning curve be a bit more forgiving. It prologue there was a similar system which determined the publishment for wallriding, crashing. Lets face it this game is designed to cater for 20mill not 20k like iracing for example. You cant forget about little timmy who just got a PS3 for christmas

Racing in beginners events should mean cars with less power and easier to control, and opponents that are really slow. And maybe with driving assists ON.

It should NOT in any way treat the driver to a car that behaves unrealistic or is immortal to damage or the likes.

Drive headon into a wall in a beginner event and you should still wreck the car. But it should be easier NOT to drive into the wall.

Interesting, soulless.

Photomode is like porn. Like you like to see a woman in different positions.
In the photomode you can put the car you like the way you like it.

And taking pictures is somewhat art.
The time you spend taking the picture of that Ferrari or BMW you love is worth it ´coz it´s been taken just for you. It has your signature attached to it.

You can show to your friends that like cars too. That you take that picture and just "how wonderful a WHITE BMW looks" for exemple. =)

Exactly, he might not be advance as some of the top photographer,I my self have no clue what the options in photo mode means. Lets at least play the game before making such definite answers.

That MP4-12C really is a sexy beast. Nightfall at the Nordschleife is a complete win, and judging by what we saw until now, the Premiums really make the game shine, I know they are just 221 cars but taking shots of all of them will take me years. :D

I would like to ask, if it is possible, for a complete review of the game, I know he is facing some trouble with the english language but, depending on his home country there is always someone at GTP who can translate the review for him. I would gladly provide Portuguese-to-(quasi)english translation if required.

Thats why there should be an option for little timmy to turn on the EASY mode (or turn off the PRO mode, whatever you fancy :) )

Was he driving in arcade mode or GT life also there has to be an option in GT life where you can alter the general options for GT Life mode.

I just thought of a potential crazy theory that may explain the damage situation... What if... PD is releasing an "immediate patch" on release date that would "unlock" damage. and maybe PD just cut back on some of the features pre-release to combat leaks?

At the very least you can do it with postwork.

not everyone has a ps3 with internet?

I posted this theory earlier in this thread but at the same thing, i cant find a reason for this.

If you got the chance to receive a copy of GT5 right now, would you pass on that opportunity because the game wont have complete content until the 24th?

It COULD, however, be some kind of a joke by PD. That would make them instantawsomeheroes in my book, but i doubt it :/

That game deserves 9/10 or even 10/10
No one puts so much attention to detail!

It's amazinng how graphics don't matter in a sim until GT5 has the most awesomme graphics ever.... then they are good enough to give a 9/10

Could it actually be that some options are "patched!" in @ launch day to reveal more options? That they in case something like this leak could happen that they wanted to keep somethings secret??

Boy that would screw the large part of the world who doesn't have broadband over pretty bad wouldn't it?

So you think you have seen the real damage system huh really man all you do is whine  Wait until you play the game or we get better detail.

You never give up do you?

You do not understand just how hard it is to create such a thing in such a high quality atmosphere like GT.

Please enlighten us on your inside knowledge of creating this damage system... or are we just assuming that if PD didn't do it, it must be mindblowingly hard to do?

480, 720, and 1080p.

What happened to 18mp?

And how you expect that people would learn driving that way ? Where 1 mistakes makes total failure. Not everyone are pro at GT from start !
I think that's already confirmed that AI is more and more challenging how u progress the carrier while at start is totally stupid ( again for same reasons )..
And i can't believe how stupid it would be that i need to finish the race while avoiding all the kamikaze AI cars ....

Starting off with slow cars that can't destroy themselves in one crash on short races at low speed maybe?

Or maybe a damage slider or options to reduce damage?

Funny how visual damage all of a sudden becomes less important when it doesn't appear to be present in the way it was promised to be

I would love to see a timeline of posts around here... go back a few years and people were laughing it up at Forza because GT5 was gonna be 1000 cars all better looking the GT5P with damage that would put burnout to shame on all the tracks you have ever seen in any GT game and then some and everything else you could imagine you ever wantned and it would be perfect because Kaz is a perfectionist and it would be worth ANY wait becuaes of how awesome it all was, you just wait and see!

And all that stuff becomes less or more important depending on what extent it turns out to be true...

Graphics aren't important when standard cars look bad, but when photomode looks sweet on premiums graphics are what it's about!

Forza's crappy canned damage system is pathetic, but then when GT5 doesn't have much damage, damage isn't important anyway.

It really does get layed on thick around here...

I dont know man, but i know there is more damage than that just have to wait and see.

I'm interested on your thoughts IF this indeed all we get.
What would you make of it.

Thanks.

Edit* no one puts it like you Deve.

Wouldn't surprise me. I've bought plenty of games on day one only to find there was already a patch available as soon as I got home. Jon Paula has a video on his youtube Channel of his first time playing Black Ops and there was a patch on the first day.

There are big parts of the world that have PS3 and GT5 but not internet?
I did not know that.

Right :) And since my two hobbies are simracing and photography, the combination in form of the photomode is just perfect for me :)

I did not know that.

Doesn't matter big or small, you shouldn't penalise anyone for not having internet.

Patches for issues maybe.
Patches for content no. They should put a disclaimer on the cover to say broadband required for offline content IMHO.

Thanks.

Um did you not see the doors flapping in early demos, also the official web sites says all cars have mechanical damage, please show me where you saw his car suffer mechanical damage?

@ dev please man you where right about the cockpit i will admit to that, other than that following your post over the last days you will not say anything positive when it comes to GT5, for some reason you seem to pop up only when negativity is around. You even posted a negative comment in the Positive thread.

The photomode just emphasizes just how much Kazunori focuses on both the physics part of driving, and the visual =D and both are top it seems =D

You didn't answer. I asked IF this is it, what are your feelings.
