I just woke up lol, ouch... Alright here I go, work time!

CoolColJ could you process all my sounds files then? That'd save me some time! I'll try to get a proper Y cable for next year for sure :)

You won't need to since by then we will have the full game in our PS3's :D
But we appreciate your effort, hopefully we'll get some direct-feed footage directly from Polyphony before November, so we don't need to rely on those show floor demos

Kinda strange that the demo was installed April 1st 2009...

First thing that came to mind. Last year I wanted to take XMB pictures but the Sony Rep there came running asking me to stop :( But yeah either it's a bug in the xmb or the build is actually quite old or as Neal pointed out, could be the internal clocks set wrong :embarrassed:

I know but I'm just saying, GC is now on my "usual place to visit year and year"-list :P So hopefully GC 2012 will have some GT6 pods, who knows? :P

Ditto, thanks Alba

Maybe the clock on the PS3 wasn't set to the correct date?

Well, it's a debug unit, so you never know.
Still kinda confusing.

I doubt the build is that old, some of the cars weren't even known back then.
Unless they constantly patched the demo.

The second item in the GT folder shows corrupted game data?

If I am not mistaken Sony downloads their demos from their own servers. I remember a story of some guy trying to copy off the demos from a PS3 at a show and all the systems are locked down with some kind of security. Probably why the Sony rep came running waving his fist. They don't want people peeping around.

Damn there's an RX-7 in the demo but obviously on an A.I car. I wanted to hear what it sounded like, see if they have improved the rotary sound. November still feels so far away

Thanks alba.

Strange indeed. The SLS AMG demo had a build date from Januari 8th 2009, as can be seen here. And that demo is with the GT4 upgraded Nordschleife. My guess is that PD have to manually update the build date field as shown in the XMB and that they just don't bother with it every time they do a new build (intentionally or not). In other words, don't read too much into that build date. :)

Corrupted game date or unsupported format, yes.

Alba, how did you change the time of day on the redbull hangar scenery? Was it a choice of night and day?
That was Denur doing the Photomode stuff while I was taking picture but yeah he changed it :P

Alba beat me to it. I was trying every button and switch on the wheel to try and zoom in and rotate. To no avail, because you really need a controller for that. But apparently I got to change the day and night setting, probably with the arrow buttons (left, right, up and down). Not sure though. :dopey:

Ah ok thanks :)

Ah ok thanks :)
Arghh, I didn't try the rotary button on the wheel. :D
Too late for that now, but while racing that rotary button is used for the in-game menu. To change the brake balance for example (it is the same in-game menu as in GT5 Prologue).

12. Audi TTS Coupe '09 on 24-H-Rennen Nürburgring

Did you actually manage to film all 12 of these?

^^^

We got to film everything Alba had on his list, but that was not his list.

We did the ZR1 but not on Madrid, I was mix matching in the middle of it. Actually the only one we didn't take is the Mark IV, I believe. I did record it later when Andreas was filming along with a few more. Yeah I remember now, I switched the Mark IV for the Nascar on Indy just to get the Nascar sound since we already had the P4 & the XJ13 :)

I'm still exporting the raw footage at we speak, got like 5GB+ of it. After that I'll split it in parts and then match it with the best audio samples we got. Some are good, some are bad, I'll wait for CoolJ to help me clean out some of the audio but yeah!

EDIT: There are actually 12 videos, the last one was just Denur going around in circle for some smoke/dust/skidmark effects :P

Hey Alba,

You are now one of the few who actually know how GT5 sounds.
What is your opinion? How would you compare it to Prologue? The same, little better or maybe way better?

And thanks for al the work you did and keeping me entertained!

Better. I didn't try every single car obviously and my capture got a bit weird on some cars but with the headphones on it was better. Some car still have the vacuum cleaner problem (see Fiat 500 but that's not a big deal) that the previous game had but yeah it depends. I'll post my full impressions and gather everything I noticed after I'm done editing the videos.

The Fiat 500 IS a vacuum cleaner

All they had at the showfloor was DFGT wheels, no G25 or G27 for the GT5 demo. It has a horn on the GT symbol circle which we tried with Andreas so wait for his (much better) footage and you should hear it hopefully :P

I guess :P I did the full Top Gear Test Track in 4th gear with the 500 haha, didn't have to change at all... fun :D
