I was thinking about how I could roll over a car in GT5. I have a few ideas:

Take a fast car (preferably) on test course and ram it into the wall (during the left turns) at top speed.
Seattle Circuit's big jumps. Those are good candidates for a roll over.
Ram into an unsuspecting A.I. car (I hope this isn't abused though or online might be wacky).

Roll-over disable online?

I cannot remember having seen this interview before. It is in japanese with an english interpreter, who seems to not translate everything being said. There is not much new in it, except maybe about the online communication system, which is setup something like a forum (?!).

I remember in the live blog from TGS that there was a video shown. I hope we can see it soon. I'm mostly awaiting the Gamespot.com interview which should be published later today.

LOL 30 seconds of japanese speech = 10 seconds in english. Now I understand the "shortly after gt psp" part.

The guy says the na/eu release date must be decided yet. I think he lies, he perfectly knows and he also knows we will be disappointed. June 2010.. what else? All GT games took 3 months to be released after the japanese version.

Damn , they think we are all kids and we cant handle the date?:dunce:

I don't understand how they can release GTPSP worldwide then release GT5 on seperate dates for EU and NA in comparison to Japan. It just wouldn't make any sense to do so. However I believe it's Sony that decide the release dates rather than PD. still wouldn't make any sense.

They are working on the Japanese version to get it done ASAP, then they will take their time to translate it after the Japan relese...

I'm not sure it's a worldwide release, I think I saw something about a november release for some countries.
Anyway gtpsp is only 1gb data....they have more work for a ps3 game.

It was the new demo with damage added to road cars. It's rolling over and an overall physics change from GT5: Prologue. It's Lamborghini. However, I think we've got more surprises left to uncover. Some from TGS interviews, and others from the future.

There was no rolling over and lambos were known well before TGS. Plus I did not notice any physics change. It was games con all over again.

Exactly, maybe thats why some on these interviews will be usefull. Maybe they will demo things like this.

I can't imagine they are going to invite all this press and tell them all exactly what they have heard before.

At this point in time I would have thought PD will be wanting to keep the press on side. Just showing them old news will line them up for a kicking in the press.

I think this is essentially a PD press conference over a few days. I think thats been the plan and the reason that the Sony speech was so vague.

do you even know what that is ??
and a 318i there you go 4cil

My dear friend... I was beeing sarcastic regarding all the rubbish you've stated before.

And yes, I know what Nm is (contrarly to what appears to be your case). It's Newton/meter measurement scales for torque. Mostly used on countries who apply preferably the metric scale basis like continental europe.

And what the hell as the fact that BMW 318i have a 4 cilinder engine has to do with it?

Personally I prefer Ibs Ft... 👍

There are a couple of issues that are different.

First, GT5 will include a lot more encyclopedic information and videos which will need to be translated, which will probably take a month's work.

Second is structuring the online system for millions of GT5 players, which might even include dedicated servers.

A tight-bottomed hissyfit comment to this would be that out of those three, Nm is the only actual unit of torque...

Back from the OT, interesting to see what the developer tours produce. I'm not expecting too much, though ;)

errr... true... I understand what you're trying to say, and you're right, since that Nm is in fact the "officlal" scale for torque measurement. BUT either kg.m and lbs.ft scales are also correct... it's just a matter of converting the measure units on the right factor.

He is sliding on the grass, grass does not provide enough grip to launch the car into a roll like that at all. Unless the rim dug into a rut/ditch and catapulted it over (unlikely). Cars don't just roll because they oversteered.

According to Wikipedia, "the main cause for rolling over is turning too sharply while moving too fast."

To me, the car in the video seemed to go very fast, and turned at the same time. I can be wrong, though. Still, that rollover didn't seemed right to me.

Yeh while that is true (thank you wikipedia) today's modern sports cars are design with roll prevention in mind in those situations.

SUVs/trucks/vans might figure into that statistic

Thanks Delta for the clip.

argh! Why interviewers allways seem to not to pick all the right questions. Come on, cockpit view on all cars and 900 steering animation support.

No wheather changes and they have WRC licence!! I do not however care about custom liveries.

I would expect that is because the majority of drivers are road drivers (race drivers account for far less numbers) and indeed especially with top heavy SUVs/minivans and bad drivers, that is the main cause with road drivers.

I would venture with race suspension and trained drivers rollover is much more often caused by impact with a barrier. Technically this is most likely to be happening while going into a turn too fast, but still the real cause is a sudden stopping of the wheel due to impact.

This can happen in soft dirt/grass however if the tire digs in and causes it to bury part of the rim. This might be more likely with low profile tires as well...

This is all just guessing, but it's what I read into it.

70 courses over 20 locations
Day/Night and weather have NOT been implemented...yet
Custom liveries sound like they arent going to happen

To me it sounds more like they are testing the performance hit weather and day/night cycles has on the game... in other words its developed, its there they are just assessing whether its viable. What this probably means is the amount of cars on track while in the rain or with TOD effects will probably have to be reduced. TOD should not be too resource heavy (mostly just all the extra lights at night... but the draw distances would be reduced). Weather on the other hand takes up a lot more power (just ask GTR2 or GTR Evo).

He says they can implement it, but he seems weary about. He doesn't know how it will affect gameplay. Damage seems to be the priority right now.
