I know they did. Let's re-check that particular translated part:

"170 Premium new models (full interior modeling, the interior corresponds to vehicle damage)
830 kinds of standard model"

If what Sim says is real why not write instead:
"170 cars with damage
830 without damage"
?

To me that looks more like:
170 premium new models with damage designed individually (more accurate)
830 standard models with some sort of scripted damage (mechanical and/or esthetic) resembling to what we saw in Grid or GTR.

I know he said not all the cars will have damage, but imagine he's talking about used/slow/regular cars. I don't see the problem if a Demio doesn't get damaged in the game.

That's my opinion. That's what we are talking about: opinions...
TGS is in 9 days.

The number of standard models is very similar to GT PSP. People that have played the demo said the car count was 838.

So this could mean "830 models already seen in previous GT's and 170 brand new". I know it's a stretch, but it might have something to do with the cars in GT PSP.

We have to remember that even if they re-use all the cars from GT4, they would still have to model an extra 280 vehicles, so 170 new and 830 re-used doesn't make sense.

This is something I've been considering as well. After all there where far less than 830 cars in GT4. Hopefully this can be clarified at TGS.

how come translator dude has no problems translating exactly what Kaz is saying, but we cant get that list decoded accurately?

if we're this confused now, what's gonna happen at TGS when everything is moon language?

It's gonna be a ****storm to say the least.

I would imagine he is given a copy of the speech's keypoints before hand so he can break them down properly during the event.

love the term Moon language.

The solution to this is to read the slides. From memory the TGS press conference by PD is usually spoken in japanese, but the presentation slides are in english.

Anyone feel to correct me if my memory is failing me.

You need no correction - they are indeed in English bullet points.

Speaking of that - it struck me funny that in 2006 when they had the GTHD TGS press conference, it clearly shows that there are 770 cars and 51 tracks! 💡

Now, why would they decrease that number over the past 3 years? If anything, they would add to it! 👍

I imagine we are going to see every track from all GT games + a handful of brand new ones - make that a hearty handful, as in 20 or so brand new tracks.

Those numbers were just what PD was intending to have...the actual asset work probably hadn't been done at that point...and especially since GT5 is not GT:HD, those numbers probably are not relevant....as the 1000 car number testifies.

What's the deal with Porsche having to be in GT5? I could care less if Porsche isn't included, there are a ton of other cars better, faster, and stronger than a Porsche(even a 911-gt3 or whatever), besides RUF are already just a damn tuned Porsche.

Very true....but does RUF have a 917 or a 917k or a 956 or a 911-GT1 or a...?

This is why I want Porsche. Just on the off chance they get Porsche and an even greater possibility of getting to drive a 917 down the Mulsanne...I'd never leave the house.

I bet my left nut there is at least 50 different locations. 👍

Please, save that nut for a special occasion.

On a serious note, the game will definitely have 50+ locations. I think the game will include all the GT4 tracks plus 10-20 new ones.

He should just show a super awesome video which would answer any possible question and just let that speak for itself :)

Yup, just Ladies and Gentlemen, Guran Turisumo Fivuh! and cut to 5 minute all-killer-no-filler video. Followed by breakdown of new features.

GT5 COncept trailer was great, but by the time it "started" it was already half way done, i hope the next vid kicks off from 0:01.

While I have no doubt GT5 is gonna have a large amount of tracks, the GTHD conference back in '06 was simply an upscaled GT4, so that's where they got those numbers.

they'd better have "Moon over the castle" playing in the beginning.. and then switch into Feeder's "Sweet 16".

Now that I see GT Mobile was even more of a waste of time, I'd be really angry to find out there are less tracks in GT5 than GT4. But then again, this is PD, and I highly doubt they'd disappoint the fans and, in a sense, themselves, by doing less. They work hard and it is reflected in each car's body, in each track and in every other way. 20 tracks might be real life tracks (Silverstone, Laguna Seca, Daytona Raceway, Monza, etc) and 60 layouts may be layouts as in fictional tracks (El Capitan, Seattle Circuit, Midfield Raceway, Apricot Hill Raceway, High Speed Ring, etc)

That's an interesting way of putting it! 👍 In any case, I'd love to see more real-life tracks, especially from Europe!

Furthering my point, if you take a look at the GT4 track list, you can probably take 12-15 real world tracks from there and leave the door open for 5-8 new tracks never seen before in a GT game.

12-15 real world tracks from GT4 (NO VARIATION TRACKS LIKE DE LA SARTHE II)
+ 5-8 real world tracks never seen before (Monza, Silverstone, Spa, etc)
= 20 real life tracks (NOT INCLUDING THE VARIATIONS LIKE DE LA SARTHE II)

Now, think of the many fictional tracks/track variations (like De la Sarthe II, Fuji Speedway 80's, 90's, Suzuka East Course, Motegi Wet, Autumn Ring, Midfield Raceway, Seattle Circuit, etc) from previous GT titles we'll see which could add up to 60. We may see new fictional tracks as well.

I really hope GT5 has all the tracks from GT4 and a few more but I've just realized that the 20 tracks + 60 layouts thing might be true, just by looking at other racing games.

-Need for Speed Shift for example has 18 tracks and just over 50 layouts.
-Forza 3 so far has 19 tracks or so, and about 60ish layouts for them (I can't remember exactly, but I saw the list the other day).

Now obviously this in no way guarantees any amount of tracks for GT5, but as a comparison, it makes the 20 tracks/60 layouts thing seem more likely. Now, seeing as how Polyphony Digital has been working on GT5 longer than Slightly Mad/Turn 10 have been working on NFS/Forza 3, I would hope that they would have more tracks to show. If they don't however, don't be surprised. I have a feeling people might be setting themselves up for disappointment at TGS with their disbelief that the game only has 20 tracks.

Yea, I think my post (#499) is just an idea, though it might prove to be true.

By 20 real world tracks, I mean 20 real world named tracks. Forget the variations like De La Sarthe II where the barriers are taken away, etc, and just focus on the De La Sarthe as an entity. I think it's very plausible to have 20 separate tracks as in 20 separate entities.

Now for the layout total, that can be explained by the number of track variations (De La Sarthe II, Sukuza West, the Daytona variation, Twin Ring Motegi East Short Course, Twin Ring Motegi West Short Course, Twin Ring Motegi - road Course, Infineon Raceway - Stock Car Course. etc), and by the number of fictional tracks (Midfield Raceway Autumn Ring, Autumn Ring Mini, Deep Forest Raceway, High Speed Ring, Test Course, etc).

There's got to be more than 20 tracks in this game if they incorporated at least Nascar and WRC. By looking at GT5:P's home screen it looks like there are already more than 20 tracks... Including one in LA (Which would be Buttonwillow probably, hopefully) I would crap my pants if they put some of the best roads from around the world in this game too but that is very unlikely. Like maybe have the Dragon or some other canyons in the game... but I think the dragon would take the cake. I would be very surprised if the places listed in GT5:P's home screen aren't in the game though. What point would that make...?

The "major advancment" could be head tracking. This information has been officially leaked, but not official announced. Its something that hasn't been done on a console yet, so it could be seen as an advancement that, to some, may be major.

I doubt it could be head tracking... IF it were MAJOR I don't think it would be leaked but thats me... ;) PD does a good job at keeping stuff hidden. I'm guessing it would have to do with something bigger... Hrm, time will tell though.

I would cry. And not from joy.:guilty:

Head Tracking is a big one..

It was leaked by official GT website by PD. Even at an interview with KAZ not so long ago ( I think French Interview) They asked KAZ why he pull out the info, and if everything was true? Kaz replay by telling that it was bit too early to share the info before TGS, and YES everyitng is 100% accurate

So I think that Head Tracking will be in GT5. I think GT5 will be first console game to use this feature, as well revolutionize all racing games in a way. I bet in 3 years, or even patched up NFS games, DIRT games, even FM3 will have such feature.

New features are good but I'm still worried about sound and AI departments. So far EA dominates.
