@mister dog AI difficulty is on the professional setting. Keep in mind that video shows my actual first laps around the Ascari circuit, so I had no idea where I was going. Still, I don't think I was that slow. After I passed the FTO, I was stunned to see him come up alongside me again. I was having so much fun I forget to change driving views for this video (roof cam is my preference), my apologies to those of you who wanted to see the cockpit view.

This was the race that impressed me with the AI the most. Of course, as I mentioned in my hands-on article, Taku Imasaki confirmed that this build of the game was running updated AI code, so it wasn't just my imagination.

Different cars, yes but, watch the gameplay and look at the map. If Jordan stuck to the breaking points and racing line and gave room, the AI FTO would have bolted. But, for the AI to not back off and never be seen again, is progress I think.

His post explains it. Good stuff 👍

The FTO is a "super touring car". Not an "LM". Car #719 on the list. With reworked aero in gt6 it shouldn't be that big of a difference between the two cars. Plus @Jordan's driving was a bit more aggressive.

So, that explains it. The A.I. has been improved.

Like that suddenly explains why one car is faster than another, you fail to mention aero.
Assuming the aero values are similar to GT5, the Scirocco might have less aero than the FTO, as the FTO always had absurdly high down force for a car of it's size and type.

Add to that the massive weight difference and massive horsepower disparities between the two, and the FTO would still be faster even if they did have the same aero (and probably even if the FTO had less aero, not that it would).

That means nothing because we don't know how the aero works for either car in gt6. I posted in the video thread, but I'll say it again, this Scirocco placed 11th and 15th OVERALL in the 2008 Nurburgring 24 race. Best laps were 9:30 for the full course. The GT3's were capable of 8:30's. Its not slouch by any means. Without the long straights (which Ascari lacks), this car would do fine against cars like that FTO.

Thanks for clearing that one up 👍! AI, sounds and chasing that darned rabbit are the points most of us want to see improvement on, so good news on at least one of those points shows there is light at the end of the tunnel! :D

I totaly agree, this Scirocco is pretty quick car by any standards.

Better AI doesnt mean good AI as we're comparing it ti GT5

Yea i'll believe it works when i hear it from actaul buyers when its out rather than reviews who may be biased for what ever reason
Cool font bro, and then gtplanet.net youtube channel posted this video:

Same catch the rabbit as GT5.

Simply copied the headline from a previous story, maybe so re catching the rabbit. It doesn't mean that the rabbit is harder to catch that GT5 and isn't that what racing is - catching the rabbit if you are not the pole sitter 👍

And you can see he's at full throttle not feathering it. If people race properly when it comes to cornering (slow in fast out), even better.

hey I noticed some yall talking abou the chickening out the ai do on gt5 you guys know you could adjust the aggression of the ai in gt5 right.... plus did you guys notice the 4 battling in front of the golf im just hopeing when I get the oreca viper I can go in arcade mode race all gt cars modern ones to 1 more edit..only 12 cars in arcade mode?

AI can only be adjusted in Arcade mode.

Also, punctuation. ;)

Okay, now I'm being dead serious. That FTO A.I. was a monster and was actually fighting Jordan back, that was so cool. You don't see that on GT5 at all, that's really an amazing improvement right there, not gonna lie.

I agree strongly with this, hopefully this will make people happy that had something to say about AI.

It used to be an issue with me too, but I primarily play online nowadays.

While there are some VERY promising things going on in these recent videos (super aggressive and aware FTO battling and even jumping a curb to stay alongside Jordan, groups of A.I. running varied lines around the track instead of 'ducks in a row', etc..) I have to wonder if many of you are comparing Arcade Mode to Arcade Mode.

I have experienced/witnessed many side-by-side battles with A.I. in GT5's arcade mode. I recently saved a replay where a C63 AMG stayed side-by-side with my RX8 from turn 2 through 10 on the Nordschlieffe. This was 35 straight seconds of continuous 2-wide racing on what is likely the thinnest section of tarmac in the entire game. I was actually so stunned that I crashed.

That aspect by itself is not completely new- but hopefully it happens much more often in GT6. Also the extreme aggression displayed by the FTO without bashing into the VW is a lovely sight. Definitely seeing new levels of work here.

AI difficulty is on the professional setting.

@Jordan A.I. difficulty (characteristics) was buried in the main Settings menu and measured from 0-10 in GT5. Do you know if this setting still exists? This setting made much more of a difference than the Arcade "Beginner/Intermediate/Professional" mode selection.

It's clear that the overall pace is not there in the Ascari video (with full knowledge of the track, Jordan would have been eating these guys alive- you can see him catch up rapidly between mistakes), and in the Mt. Panorama video we clearly see that old ferrari let WAY off throttle on turn-exit (@1:26 of the "replay" vid). Maybe he missed a shift, you know? Just rev limiter bouncing, and every time he looks down, he sees a big N for Neutral! Oh, how does that feel, Mr. A.I.?:sly:

Slow overall pace can be compensated by detuning and using comfort tires, but the brake-checking and inexplicably letting off throttle stuff.. Ugh. I'll take the positive where I can get it for now, and hope that those mystical future updates will have some goodness in store for us all.. 👍

Regardless of the cars performance difference there's no way that would have happened on GT5 so it's looking promising!
True.I just spent the last hour actually watching how the AI behave in gt5 compared to that video .The things that stood out immediately was that throughout most of the race they stay in a single line, you would be lucky to see 2 side by side on a straight, and that once you passed a car, you don't have to worry about him until you're on a straight.Nobody tried to over take me on any corner. I did 5 laps at fuji, spa, and 3 at motegi. With random stock cars ranging from 300 hp to 500hp. I did manage to do some side by side racing through a corner on fuji.. but thats only because I slowed down so the AI would catch up.He didn't ball up and go sit in a corner because his car was faster and we had same tire compound, with racing softs and a faster car they do slow down.. a lot, so basically just confirming what was already said.I'm sure AI comparisons videos will start poping up eventually

This.

On top of detuning I used to try and drive as clean as possible - no rubbing, no F1 style pushing the track limits, if you have an off, wait until the track is 100% clear etc but when you continually run up the back of the car you're following thanks to him either braking early or letting of the gas (maybe fuel saving?) there's not much you can do.

That's the 1st thing I noticed. The front of the pack having a free for all, Calsonic BNR32, Super GT500 Z (Was going ham) and some others

We haven't seen enough, the SLS video at Mount Panorama shows a chase the rabbit race with uncompetitive AI like GT5 seasonals. We don't know yet if:
-GT6 offer agressive AI even when running similar spec cars
-that AI is included in GT mode or once again, will be confined to Arcade mode.
