Well, if you're going to unfairly weigh your arguments favoring certain posters and games, by all means.
No need, you do that well enough on your own. So, will you continue to dodge valid points that are brought up in response to your ridiculous claims (like the Corvette sounding like a
completely different engine), or not? Maybe you'd prefer to twist comments around?
I'm getting used to the fact that vroom-vroom noise rates higher on some people's lists than even physics do around here. Hey, I've read some odd posts...
Twist it is, then. I've yet to see anybody make that sort of claim, but since you've read the posts, by all means, point them out.
Why do people want GT6 on PS3 anyway? More events? More cars and tracks?
Like I said earlier, it will be GT5 XXL
Like GT4 and GT2 were nothing but GT3 XXL and GT1 XXL, respectively? I suppose if GT6 comes to PS4, PD shouldn't even bother working on a GT7 for the same system - why bother, it'd just be the same game, they best wait for the next Sony system.
I think its easy to see where the sides stand and why. People who want GT6 on PS3 have no interest at all in buying a PS4 anytime soon, and certainly not just to try out the latest GT game. Or they fear GT6 on PS4 may not be released for years. Both reasons put little care into the quality of game GT6 could be.
Nope, as I've said in this thread already, I would prefer a PS3 GT6 not only because of the financial sense it makes (Scaff has got that side of the discussion nailed, IMO), but because I'd really like PD to understand what every single other developer does; that
every system has inherent limitations, and they should be taken into account when creating the game, not used as excuses for half-baked feature implementation. The vast majority of my issues with GT5 do not need a powerful new system to be realized.
The GT6/PS4 crowd, like myself, were mostly early PS3 adopters, those who now have had their PS3s for almost 7 years. At last, the time has come to ditch the PS3 and finally upgrade to the PS4. But Sony is asking us to hold on to the PS3 for another 2 years to play GT6. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll be moving on. Im quite finished with PS3. In fact I have been for a good while. Maybe those who bought PS3 late 2010 with GT5 or even later still think PS3 has lots of life left in it. But I dont.
Much like I don't understand people who insist on sticking with one racing game franchise over another in some bizarre declaration of loyalty, I don't understand this PS3 or PS4 approach either. I've still got a perfectly functioning PS2 that I still use, and a small brace of PS1 games (though they obviously can work on the PS3). There's a Gamecube, a 360, and even an SNES here too. Perhaps the mentality is linked to the early-adopter approach, I'm not sure.
Did the GT6/PS3 crowd miss the PS4 announcement Kazunori Yamauchi was seen in a video at? PS4 is literally 10x the system PS3 is in terms of pure graphics power. All the blocky shadows of GT5, the 11 or 15 car AI limit or even the 16 car limit, the jaggies from mist and smoke, the screen tearing, the frame rate drops, the sub 1080p resolution, all can be done away with in an instant of time thanks to the power of the PS4.
"Instant of Time"? Polyphony Digital?
In seriousness, great; it's awesome that a new system would solve all the (primarily) graphics-related issues. It doesn't guarantee fixing any of the gameplay problems people had with GT5.
Worth an extra 8-12 month wait? IMO, yes, definitely.
A hypothetical 8-12 months, sure.
/Thread.
Couldn't have said it better myself, if you support the evolution of the series then you also support GT6 on PS4, meanwhile if you want to see GT stay stagnant then PS3 is your answer.
GT5 was the first (full) game in the series on a massively more powerful system versus its predecessor (GT4). Sure, it had some features that only became possible because of that move, but strangely enough, it hasn't received the critical acclaim of the earlier titles nor the sales.
You still haven't explained how a game earns 100% profit, by the way.
Earth is totally right, and GT6 on PS3 will be less of a game than it would be on PS4 by a good margin.
Quality over quantity. GT5 "took advantage" of the vastly powerful PS3 to produce a game that ran through the racing-game-options supermarket, quickly tossing whatever it could find into its cart. Let's add a touch of weather, a bit of dynamic time settings, a sprinkling of current-generation car modeling techniques, some big-name licenses like the WRC and NASCAR and then ignore what makes those series, well, those series... I could go on. The older games in the series were received better by critics, and it's not hard to see why.
Now, I don't want to say that a GT6 on PS3 will be good for PD for the simple act of "optimization" - they are, afterall, a Sony-owned studio, and we know when it comes to things like their shading/lighting engine, they are expertly good at what they do. No, optimizing isn't the right term; for lack of a better one, I'd use "focused". GT5 suffered from the grand ambitions a new system provided, and feature-creep reared its ugly head. If a PS4 GT game is the next step, I'm
very wary of history repeating itself. A PS3 version, by dint of PD being so familiar with the hardware limitations now, enforces a more careful approach. Which ties back to the whole quality > quantity bit.
The bolded red is spot on.
Honestly, I considered GT5 dead on arrival; it was released utterly incomplete and only after years of updating did it become....
mostly incomplete. And I want to consider GT6 the unofficial rebirth of the series. Hey, Capcom tried it with Devil May Cry. PD can too!
Still, however, I am remaining poised. Or trying to, at least. It's been difficult considering Wednesday's potential news.
Oh no, now all I've got in my head is some sort of DMC-style reboot of Kaz and co
Like i have said to you over and over again. I will not pre-order, get excited, expect anything, until this game is actually in the store.
Basically I have a lot of doubt the first release date will be valid. I bet it will be delayed. Only thing I am interested in, is finding out if it will be released on what system.
Considering every GT game has been delayed since GT2 (I believe even GT1 was)... yeah, I hear you.
