They have probably been working on it since GT4 and never had time to put it into GT5. So they kept working on it and called it GT6. Like you said, they obviously they have been working on this a LONG time. I am just waiting to see about the standard cars. They simply CANT be in GT6. It would be way beyond insulting.

GT5 ran at 60 fps, in 1280x720, with AA, in 3D (meaning it renders 2 images simultaneously), 16 cars on-track (premium car at 100k polys), with dynamic time and weather.

Do you even have any idea how hard that is, in a 256MB VRAM and 250MB RAM?

Sorry but you're wrong. GT5 doesn't run at 60fps with all that magic going on. It tries to but in 3D the performance hit is larger and with weather and time and a full 16 car grid the game drops as low as sub 20fps.
I hope PD did some magic and gets GT6 to run as much as 60fps as it can.

Rather they just put them in from the start.. but whatever.

Even if GT6 used standard model cars, I doubt Kaz or any of the PD marketing team ever use the word 'standard' to describe the cars again. There's too much negative connotation associated with that word now.
