Gran Turismo 6 E3 2013, General discussion(Live streaming links).

They got to see the box art. Whether it's the official and finalized box art isn't known. We should all get to see it by the end of GT6's presentation, maybe.
Oh, I think I know why there is the confusion, I recall tweeting something about the box art being "the car under the blue cover" (I meant that literally) during the May 15th event. Before the presentation, a Japanese journalist sitting in front of me opened an image on his laptop of PS3 box art with this on the cover:

gran-turismo-6-logo.jpg

I asked him about it, but he didn't speak English and we couldn't communicate. It looked very official, and I presumed that perhaps the Japanese journalist group had received press materials those of us from the United States hadn't seen yet.

Obviously, that box art was never revealed in the presentation or any of the other press materials, so it may have just been something he or someone from his publication produced for themselves.

I hate to go on about Forza, but that 'drivatar' feature (the AI assesses your driving style: braking points, where you hit the apex, how aggressively you overtake, how smooth your driving is, and your 'B-spec' drivatar does races for you while you're not playing, emulating your driving style, and you're also able to kind race against friends that aren't online because their driving is accurately emulated by their drivatar) looked pretty good.

If they could model the GT6 AI on a couple of existing race drivers, even just GT Academy winners, that would be really cool. No AI improvement would be fairly criminal, considering the fact that Forza are apparently able to do it in such a dynamic way.

I'd be happy with a timed exclusive, as long as it isn't over a year or something silly.

Oh it better be timed-exclusive, and a short one too. Than again I'm not to concerned about the P1 anyway, the Audi S1 rally car is what I'm more excited about. :sly:

Xbox One has been announced at $499. What are they smoking?

I hope Sony is smarter than that when it comes to the PS4.

It's placeholder box art.

Now that we are a short few hours away, it feels like weeks...Especially considering how quickly this day came.

It's very interesting and a good idea, but they're only able to do it using "cloud gaming"; I really can't elaborate as to what it is except that it can save information in a very efficient way.

Yes, no, yes? Is it exactly alike or similar to Gaikai for the PS4? ANSWER ME! :)

Ugh, I'd say it's another 6, though maybe even closer to 7 hours, until we see GT6 presented. The earlier part of this day seemed to fly by.

Things always go slower when you are really look forward to it.

It seems there won't be a live stream of the pressconference, from what i gather, correct me if i'm wrong.

Just because they claim all of those things it doesnt mean they will actaully work, Konami use to give us that spiel for pes about how the AI would learn how you play etc, It was all fancy words in the end.

@SCER I just saw the P1 in NFS Rivals. Looks like it isn't timed-exclusive after all and could be PD's chance to get it as well? 👍

WANT WANT WANT WANT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT!👍

Seriously, that P1 is impossibly pretty.

I hope so, it sounds very good. AI is the primary thing that needs upgrading for a lot of people, so if they can do it in a fun and interesting way that'd be great.

It's true. Features like that almost always tend to be very hit and miss on their first time of implementation.

Would be a really cool thing to have. That, and La Ferrari would be really big statements of intent I think, and would help draw in more mainstream gamers. Your typical gamer, as far as cars are concerned, just wants to drive thousand horsepower supercars, so if cars like that are added it could really help broaden the appeal of the franchise.

True and the thing about that feature is that we ALL know how horrible it can be competing against players that are mostly incompetent. You'll have to pick your friends more wisely. If they use a softer/harder tire than you want to use or usually use, for that matter, how will that be managed? I don't know, but that's just one variable that'll have to be tested in order to see its potential. We can't judge it for being a badly implemented or thought out feature when it really does has potential.

Xbox-one will be €499,- thats about $648,-

anyway I'm counting on €499 for the PS4 anything less would be a bonus

Indeed, would make almost everyone happy. :)

Absolutely, I agree. Just hope it doesn't become too important having to keep adding them in order to gain/keep interest, but the more the merrier is always good.

Im lucky there i have a good bunch of friends to race with now but it took me a couple years to find them.

There is another controversy on those Silverstone boxes. Apparently, one of the *insiders* twitted this picture of the back of the placeholder boxes, but no other source ever posted this on 15th May:

We still have no "second opinion" confirmation was it actually genuine.

BTW Have a great afternoon today 👍

Thank you for the formatting Torque, for al of who are browsing from their mobile phones while maintaining *Original GTP skin" : tup:

Well, there were actually Ferrari and P1. And Porsche. Sounds familiar?

There is old proverb that says "If you give us Porsches exclusively for Forza on X360, we will give you Ferrari and McLaren for your multiplatform games" ;)

Does anyone know if any of these streams will be saved, so I can re-watch it tomorrow morning (or 11-12pm LA time)?

Well... PS3 was sold for $500-$600 on release so....

But lets not forget that the PS3 was 2 consoles in one on release as it had the PS2 hardware in order to be backward compatible which was later removed and the price lowered.

The price on the xbox would not be quite a bad if it was fully backward compatible but reports say it is not even compatible with external 360 hardware and of course none of the 360 games so given that you get a box that can't use any of the extra stuff you have bought for the 360 and can not play any of the games it is quite high.

When the PS3 was released you could still use your existing steering wheel, you could still play your existing games and even then it did not sell well because of the price, imagine how much worse if it could not play the games or use the hardware and was still that price?

Porsche HAS to be in. I'm not one to be begging for it, but I feel it's time for its official Gran Turismo inclusion. Good reminder though. People will be maaaad if it doesn't end up in GT6.

Plus, the obvious that Blu-Ray was completely new to the world when the PS3 released. That's the main reason for its high pricing at least.

And yea, if amar212 is right (:D), then the exclusion of Fanatec steering wheels on the Xbox One will be a great failure and a heartbreak for many people.

Then you're getting ripped off even worse cause the xbox one is $499 here.

Thanks for clarifying that!

Streams are hosted on twitch.tv, just in case you want to see it without commentators.

Most console sales are overseas. Companies have to take those prices into account.

Saw microsoft's and EA's conferences (more like overheard): Both were very, very good, to the point I'd consider buying a One at release date if it wasn't that all our controllers won't work on it, including fanatec driving wheels and arcade sticks.

As for GT6 news, it will be very hard to top the competition. The main stage presentation was superb and the backstage info and footage just destroys GT6 (laser scanned tracks, graphics, content, thrustmaster wheel, damage, AI, licenses. The lot).

Please, do not set yourself for the disappointment.

For almost 15 years Electronic Arts has a full control over Porsche licensing for videogames. There is contract going on since 1999 and nothing has put it out of the power yet.

Noone knows how deep it goes, noone knows how long will it last and who actually controls it - EA or Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. Or both sides.

Everything we get to understand is how EA is in full and absolute control of deploying Porsche license outside their own games and since 2007 it also covers not only road cars but also race cars with shapes and chassis licensed by Porsche.

I don't know who those "people who will be maaaaad" are, but those people should not expect impossible things.

I would love to be wrong on that one.
