Quick caveat, if you decide to or for whatever reason, must uninstall and then reinstall the game, when you go to Load Settings, they’re all deleted.

Hello guys, just getting back into GT7 and looking at setting up my own custom races.

IIRC from months back, people were suggesting Boost Weak is best option for competitive, somewhat realistic racing. Is that the case still, seeing as we've had several updates since I last played? Any other recommended settingss?

Copying in the man @PirovacBoy as I know you were at the fore front of tweaking custom race settings...

Cheers

Heavy damage and tyre wear works a treat if you're mixing racecars and tuned road cars. Unfortunately the fuel tanks of the road cars drain way faster than their racecar cousins. This way, the AI will pit and the field has more variability.
.
Having said that, I have been working on the fine tweaks of my 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship Grid. I BOP the racecars and have the corvettes and lambos tuned to be equal to the BOP performance. Over a bunch of tracks the results vary greatly. I race with boost set to weak, tyre wear set to 4x, and damage set to heavy.

Here is an example:
.
I am pretty confused with the BOP now though. I tried adding the Zonda R '09 to the grid with a VItaphone livery to simulate the 2010 winning Maserati car but no matter what I set the settings to it destroys the field. It's like when I apply the BOP it disregards all the settings I have made on this car. I absolutely neutered its power and added all the ballast I could and it still ran away and won by 40+ seconds. So it's strange that some cars will be affected by BOP and others won't.

That race looks superb! Thanks a lot for the detail/info mate.

Nice. Mind sharing the liveries please?

I second the livery request. Could you please shoot me an add so I can get the liveries? I'd love to try this race :D
The #44 continues to glitch the bonnet & mirrors white. I’ve redone it about five times. Let me know if it’s got a white bonnet when applied.

I have two custom championships with full 20-car grids tuned to run competitively.

First, the Trans Am series, but with aero kits & supercharged V8s. Max 620 HP, 675 PP, min 2600 lbs but most cars weigh around 3000 lbs. The Firebirds win at high-speed courses, the Rampage Camaros win at technical courses, and everyone else is pretty much even.

Second, Group A! Max 300 HP, 620 PP, min 2000 lbs. The M3s, R32s, RX-7s, Cosworths, and the engine-swapped Lancia and Civic all are quite competitive and fun to drive.

My next project is building the entire 2019 Super Formula grid. It should be easy because I will only need to buy the cars and apply liveries rather than tuning them; but the grind to buy the cars is time-consuming.

After that is done, I’ll be making the 2008 and 2016 Super GT grids, and multi-class Group B/A Rally and 80’s Group C/GT.

Picked up four more ‘69 Corvettes. That gives me 2-ragtops and 4-coupes. Max-tuned three and saved one for an engine swap,(if I live long enough)🙂

What other tracks should I use for my WeatherTech series? We already have Daytona, Laguna Seca, The Glen and Road Atlanta. I'm thinking about using Blue Moon Bay as Sebring, but what other substitutes are there for the others?

Yeah, it’s some timey with select cars. However, I’m convinced it’s just an old program for that track. I ran same cars at Suzuka and Road Atlanta. AI showing excellent pace.
At Bathurst, the programming appears too Cautious. As in the trajectory settings. Weird lines at the dipper and through/exiting the Chase. With some cars, AI will tap the brakes. It’s probably the high speed of these cars, coupled with having less than half the downforce of GT cars. In saying that, there are possibly more factors to AI behaviour, at this circuit.

These are by no means perfect, but they are the substitutes I would choose.

-Maggiore West, Center, or West End all make okay replacements for Lime Rock and Mid-Ohio.
-Tokyo Expressway South (either clockwise or counterclockwise) has the layout most similar to Long Beach, IMO. Or if you prioritize location over layout, you could use another California track like Willow Springs or Trial Mountain.
-Sardegna C, Deep Forest, or St. Croix B for Mosport.
-Dragon Trail Seaside, Maggiore Full or Kyoto Yamagiwa for VIR.
-Deep Forest for Road America. Or Trial Mountain if you don't use it for Long Beach.
-And you'll probably have to use another Tokyo layout for Detroit.

Made a custom race grid inspired by PGR4 with the following cars:

Mercedes-Benz CLK-LM with maximum weight and reduced downforce, though I will change the weight to about 2300 lbs as the car is a total slug in corners with the maximum weight.
McLaren F1 GTR 1995 as F1 LM with turbo upgrades
Ferrari Enzo fully tuned as Ferrari FXX
Aston Martin DBR9
Murcielago as Murcielago RGT fully upgraded
McLaren F1 GTR 1997 as a filler car with the same settings as the CLK-LM
Diablo GTR as a filler car, will be replaced by a RUF CTR3 or unlivered Corvette C6R as it was far too slow.

The RGT and F1 LM gave me a pretty tense challenge while the FXX and RGT were far faster on the straights. The grid made me realize that outside of Tokyo we do not have enough city tracks. On the first test run of the race the DBR9 was far too fast and had to be tuned back to stock as on PGR4 the car was very slow compared to any of the other cars in the class despite being quite competitive in real life.

I plan on doing a second grid based on the B Class from PGR3 with the following cars:
Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 as Murcielago '02
Ferrari Enzo x2
Carerra GT *This wasn't in the game but it's period correct
Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR
Porsche 997 in the place of a RUF RGT8
Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
Lamborghini Diablo GT

Bought four Super Bees and maxed them out. I'm using Mr.P's (Hellcat swap) Challenger tune. I changed the brake balance to -2, initial throttle and torque sensitivity to 5, brake sensitivity to 25. That ballast setting of 100lbs., 50% to the rear works like magic on these high-powered FR cars. Not the fastest car, but fast enough, and a pleasure to drive.

I tested and tuned at LeMans. Ran 3 races there today. The Super Bee gets 2.2 laps on FM6. It hits 170 or so on FM6 and 185 on FM1.

It’s a balanced car. Goes good at Daytona tri-oval as well.

As for searching camera views, RBR is my fav at the moment.

Did one 20 minutes at RBR with group A. Now, a 5 lap with USA muscle.

Nice angles and cool movement from avatars in the background.

Le Mans was cool with Group C. Watching them come down the straight. I’ve got a nice spot at Road Atlanta behind trees, but only with a race photo. Need to get that tv camera angle. I‘d love to have such replay tools and options in the game.

Wel, seeing that car update, Ill definitely be making a cool sport sedan series with somewhat newer cars: GTAm, M2, ZL1, Shelby GT350. As much as I’d like to use the G70, I’m leaving 4WD cars out.

Little update on my IMSA grid:

Slow going, but doing some tweaks. Going to have 4 DPi (SRT, Mazda, Toyota [as Acura] and McLaren), 2 LMP2 (probably use the Nissan and downtune it), 6 GTD Pro/GTLM (800PP) and 8 GTD (730PP).
