Got to get in on this touring car action. Might diversify and aim for something more like a DTM/BTCC/JTCC crossover, with GTRs, some form of Civic, anything else I can think of that would fit. Basically a nice varied grid of pimped up saloon cars (and taking the Alfa our of the equation I think).

Great info! I will probably also add some nismo GTR's to grid :D Too bad we don't have Audi V8
We have the Toyota Supra too, which I will be adding to my DTM grid once its available in UCD. Might be hard to balance that one. Looks like my grid spans from 1989 - 1994 ish.

One of lancers would fit too if your grid ends on 1994 .
It's a bit tragic but I would genuinely be thrilled if they added in some 90s family cars, like a Mondeo, Cavalier, Volvo estate, Accord, Carina, Laguna, Primera... I'd be so happy to get all of these rubbish cars lol
I know what you are thinking :D

Ideally yes, but I'd settle for a vague approximation with a few more car options than we currently have. Something that captures the spirit of that blessed time! :)

I didn't try, but is rubber banding still active? I wait it to disappear to come back again into custom races. Since all new race added are bloated with rubber banding, I fear the worst..

Yeah, no changes to Custom Races except improved payouts. Probably more appropriate for another thread but Arcade Races have been rebranded and feature Sophy on a few tracks. Hard to tell if there is a rubberband in play on that one as it’s a ‘random’ grid (based around your car’s stock pp) with 3 laps at most. Good racing, though I have been detuning my car like we’ve all done for Custom Races in order to not finish 1st each time.

This is what i’ve started building. So far i have the sierra, e30, e190, r32 and supra 3.0. Thinking of adding the ae86

I have such a crossover late 80ies/very early 90ies Touring Car grid.
M3s,Sierras,Z 300ZXs,C4s and Supras-and no matter what I did, the Supras were always left behind...

Gonna revamp that one with Evos, get rid of the Supras(too slow) and C4s(too fast...) and add some Silvias(and probably Deltas)...since I only have one, no Alfas for now.

Results from that initial race I posted.

PD did something. The programming seems to be adjusted with Boost Weak. Again, still circuit dependent, but AI battles I’ve been having, are lasting longer. Taking longer to clear cars cleanly.
Same set up at Red Bull Ring and Monza. Finished 7th and 14th, respectively. My 190 Es are Identical in power & weight, with varying gearing(3.83 or 4.1) and downforce((50/100 or 75/100). Some have maximum stiff springs at 3.30/3.50, others have 3.00/3.00. Anti-roll bars 5/5, 8/8 or 10/10.
RBR and Monza were even tougher to pass(I removed the R32s at Monza, for full on DTM). Doing all the real Europe circuits as a gauge. So far, good stuff!

Edit: To add about varying cars for a grid. You can pick up the Renault R5 in the UCD. Makes a really good alternative as a Toyota Starlet replica. Fits in the class versus AE86, as well as classic TS Cup.

Theres also the Mk1 Golf. It can be tuned with a turbo(the real world Kamei Golf made about 170-175BHP), to match the AE86, but remember it has an engine swap if you want more power.
Lastly, the 3000GT is also a good filler. The real world Super Endurance race car makes a low 320-340BHP at a heavy 1360kg.

Has anyone had the time to check the new Custom payouts vs. World Events prize money when configured similarly?

I know the CPU car criteria can't be exact (no drivetrain, country or PP restriction), but in the few races I've been able to test they have been often much better $$ when they're Custom Races.

I just did a comparison of the 900pp race at Autopolis with a custom race with similar setup. (Just grabbing a Gr. 2 car with the same category selected) For me, if you're Collector Level 50 and have completed the CE for the track, you're looking at a $141,600 payout with similar conditions, as in, starting in last, 20 opponents, etc. etc.. (May be able to jump the payout higher if you do a custom grid and downtune your car) The actual PD Sanctioned race at Autopolis has a payout of $150,000. So it's about an $8,000 difference which is pretty damn good if you ask me. Especially comparing it to what it use to be.

I might go back and see what my GT League races pay now, if they're the same or even better than what they were in GTS.

This is all I wanna do now.
Me too, but unfortunately I still don't have all the cars needed :(

When doing a custom race with a grid full of custom styles and liveries, does anyone else find that sometimes it doesn't load the liveries properly for the back few cars on the grid?

Is there something that can be done to fix this? I tried waiting before starting the race to give it time to load them all, but no luck.

I am using an old saved custom race if that makes any difference, rather than adding the garage cars to the grid each time.

Thanks
I had this bug yesterday in a BTCC custom race at Brands Hatch: my car (an Alfa Giulia with a Rob Austin replica livery and a BTCC-style tune), and three others, without their proper custom livery, regularly applied in the garage. Tried to restart the race, same issue. Then I exit the custom race mode, go back to the main menu, then back again to custom race mode and all was fine this time.

I wonder if this issue could depend by the use of the new "Change car" button in the circuit menu, because before going to the custom race I was actually in a completely different car, and this issue had never arisen before.

I wanted to make DTM grid Aswell.

Do you have settings for each car somewhere? :)

I also wonder should I widebody all the cars for it or not? When I am looking at photos of real DTM from that era they seems not to have widebodies but I am not sure about it.
I need DTM tunes too... But I'm not in a hurry, as said before I still don't have all cars needed :banghead:

I still have the AI that uses 95% of the throttle even with Boost Weak (tested yesterday in that BTCC race) and honestly I can't figure why this happens.

Evo III & IV work well.

Widebody for the Evo III to replicate the A4. No E36, but detune the E46 for a similar vibe.

Detune the R33 and it makes a sweet touring car filler for the era.

Adjusting the 4WD cars torque distribution helps balance performance. We have the tools, just need to have fun trialling everything.

The R32 has another use. Tuned to 460BHP/1250-1260kg, it can be a filler for the four Audi DTM cars. Create Audi liveries for them and can replicate the 1991 Nurburgring DTM Race 1. The top 20 finishers, in the 22 lap race: eight 190 E, all four Audi V8 and eight E30 Evo.

The AI is 200% better now across all modes . I know since my custom AI grid is now beating me .
I've not tried it properly yet but I sincerely hope you're right, it's a bit frustrating having to drastically nerf your own car just to make the race vaguely competitive.

This Spa race did have a random shower. I was mid-pack and pitted(I run PSVR2 with HUD off). The winning M3 did not pit, as the track was damp enough to lose traction and bring up small rooster tails, but not enough for wets.
I did forget to buy Softs as the AI switch to RS after replacing IW. Still, I was experiencing loss of grip and almost like my tyres were dirty(more than usual), just a bit off line.

It’s more rare for me to win with this new update though.

I am so pleased they have sorted out the pay amounts. It wasn't doing my OCD any good seeing payments of 7893 credits instead of simply 7900. I haven't checked yet, but I hope they also sort out the selling prices for that same reason.

Yes, I know it's a minor thing to be bothered by...
