Not often be mentioned, but GT SPORT, and GT7 as well, use almost 15-year old 3D model bases for some cars.
One of the cars with the oldest 3D model base is the Eunos Roadster, which only refined its GTHD model, made in (or before) 2006.

Here're the comparison images; taken by @emula.
up until the picture of the rims i thought it was a comparison with the real car lol

A little bit of Gran Turismo at yesterday's party at Silverstone. ;)

Gran turismo has by far more accurate car models than forza overall, forza has so many poor x360 era recycled cars might even be a couble of fm1 models to and it looks to be even carried over for the new forza motorsport as well, in. My opinion gran turismo is still the market leaders when it comes to the car models overall,
gran turismo always look a lot more photorealistic and natural than forza to me

Left behind by who exactly?

GT has by far the most detailed and accurate car models (exterior AND interior). Those things take time.

Other studios are faster, but sacrifice quality.

You can’t have it both ways.
Yes the models are detailed but not many of them are "current" compared to the likes of Forza and ACC. It's been an issue since the GT5 days and I honestly don't think anything has changed.
Is this a bit?

I have no idea how you jumped from "PD needs to model cars quicker" to "Kaz needs to be sacked" in the same paragraph.

Kaz is Gran Turismo. It's his child, his vision. He's the reason for most of the series' quirks and charm. Without him leading things, who knows where we'd be? GT might've become another soulless crapfest with a festival setting, bland open world, supercars given to you right at the start of the game, paid car packs full of reused models from the old games...
Yes, Kaz got GT to where it is today but not without several missteps. The choices that were made in the PS3 days for example really made the game look stupid, especially compared to Forza Motorsport 4. It set them back several years and only now have they made up for lost time. Kaz should go because I don't think he's capable of making the right decisions for the good of the series anymore. PD choose to spend 8 months modelling each car because they want to cover EVERY detail, even those that we can't see. Average consumers won't notice deficiencies in the model if the polygon count is reduced by 10%. Now that may not seem like much but if you do this for 70 cars, the gains are significant. Let me explain: at the current rate, it would take PD a total of 560 months' work to model 70 cars. If it took 7.2 months to model each car, the total amount of work is equivalent to 504 months. That's a serious reduction.

They can make more than one car at once, while it taking long for every car to be made
They are the best models in buisness, and they are making multiply models at once,
Its already confirmed that kaz is making 60 cars a year

I know that they work on several models at once. They'd have to be based on the math. When I talk about workload I'm talking about the total time it'd take to do 70 models, not the actual time that passes - otherwise we'd be waiting 50 years!

BREAKING NEWS!!!:

Lewis Hamilton’s Cap teased for future update.
Jeez......I hope the AI`s not going to send on a safety car near the last lap to rob me of my race & Championship, even though Ive led all the race. or worst still, follow that up by sending a smug little Bastard running in with his Bimbo cats-chorus`esque warbling wife in tow to rub salt in my wounds ...........nah they wouldn't would they ?

I always think they should have just used those premium models from GT5/6 and touch them up a bit. They kept claiming it was next gen back then only to use it in like 2 games.

we have no clue in what state some of those GT5/GT6 models are , also those models are considered low poly nowdays

CAD scans are "next gen" but still you have to create a game version out of it which isn't easy to do

Or just outsource 3d modellers more. I can't believe only PD can make such details models, but if more people would be making them we will get more per year than currently.

They actually have; lots of the initial content flood at the start of GT Sport was returning GT5/6 Premiums.
That's cool, I always thought they build the models again from ground up. So they could actually add more cars using the 5/6 premiums but somehow stopped for some reason I guess.

Though there are 2 differenty type of PS3 era premium models, those with addaptive tessalation and those without. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were the models with addaptive tessalation that we saw make the transition to to GT: Sport and GT7 with the least amount of work.

But it makes sense for PD to be reusing the original base models because they were made far more detailed than the PS3 could handle and they're probably still far more detailed than what the PS5 can handle. At least in a practical game environment anyway.

You should seek some help, it's been almost 2 years 🤦. Without getting into a pointless discussion, let us also not forget about Hungary or Silverstone that same year, why it even was that close into the final race to begin with. And no I am not a Verstappen fan, I support Bottas as a Finn, also Ferrari.

That dosen’t mean they was carried just over, they might require less work, but they are absolutly more detailed then the gt5-gt6 premiums, most of cars added to gt7 has been new car to series so thats understandable that they are less cars in updates now, and they are no longer outsourcing like they did on gt sport by the looks of it

Yep 2 years on & i still cannot believe how Lewis Hamilton conducted himself immediately after that Debacle of an event, where he was robbed in what only can be described as a gut-wrenching theft. With the spotlight on him, so-called unbiased TV presenters whooping it up & their nemesis showing no signs of tact in an unprecedented lack of sportsmanship. He showed just what being a true Champion is all about.

But Sam just for you mate, here's drink on me

Errr, think this is the guy you meant to quote:
BREAKING NEWS!!!:

Lewis Hamilton’s Cap teased for future update.
Also, how about we not talk about that again? It was farcical at the time, still is now and so far, nothing has exactly made me miss being able to watch F1 at the moment (Especially looking at a ballooning Calander that continues to give the mechanics a Middle finger)
The July Update will be the most beautiful Update we have ever seen before
And what makes you say that?

BREAKING NEWS!!!:

You wake up one day and find a new update had been installed.

You see a sweet 190e in the update notes and are just itching to drive it!

But what's this? You see the general discussion thread lit up with complaints!

You finally take your 190e for a spin and notice something green In the rear view camera....

They haven't quite stopped reintroducing Premium models from the PS3 games in GT7, they've just slowed down.
GT7 launched with the Murciélago, F430, 8C, 370Z, Amuse 380, Prius, Aqua, '02 NSX, Evo VI, TOM'S Supra, Scirocco R, S15 Silvia, Silvia TC and Civic TC taken from GT5/6, and updates have seen the return of the EA11R Cappuccino and the ST205 Celica Rally Car.

There's well over 140 more in PD's vault that could potentially be added, ranging from licensing nightmares (Deltawing, seven Lotii/Lotuses, LCC Rocket, Cizeta V16T) to seemingly simple additions that leave us scratching our heads as to their long absence (599, LFA, Gallardo, Reventon, '05, '07, '09, '10, '12 WRX STis).
