Probably the wrong thread for this…but I really would like to see GT7 support more peripherals like a true sim. And by that I mean separate add on screens to your rig for deltas, tire wear, button boxes etc. basically options to take some of your HUD information off your screen.

And with fanatec being the primary gear company for Gran Turismo, they could easily do it and make a $$$$ killing. And i for one, would totally geek out on that stuff.

Like others, I do wonder how they’re going to pack all this new GT7 stuff into a base PS4. That remains the biggest question for me

The first minute of this trailer was a full on love letter to diehard fans of this series

It should be with them generating the 3D model of the tuning parts.

I still want to see what'll GT7 bring about the campaign as especially it's the one brought up in the opening before, so far the screenshot had the past one in the License.

I think it's probably on how the rain is handled in this game, and probably there's not much to defend but I wanna see you try.

Yeah, probably I hope the world map can be customizable too, but it also fulfills my wish of time changing on the map depending on noon/night. And I think the good thing is also they had detailed buildings for the menu. I hope in later GTs if GT7 won't have it GT can use the map for free roam.
I was talking about the high speed ring overhead shot btw. The pic will be cherrypicked to death from here on out.

Maybe I am too much excited but right now I am afraid regarding delays. I hope there will be no delays at all. But even hours after announcement with release date, the game is still marked as "Just Announced" on console's PS Store. Which is worrying.

snc
yeah probably but they chose in the newer trailer worse lightning conditions, its basicaly just gt sport graphicaly

new trailer

old

Sorry if this was mentioned but did they cancel ray tracing in the rearview mirrors? It no longer shows driver/back of the car. It’s more like rear backup camera per usual.

I'm not really sure, really. But wasn't that only for RT cinematics? Also, using those mirrors are far more convenient because it's easier to see who's behind you, but... they're obviously less immersive, of course.

I think the Variable Time/Weather Simulation was the biggest surprise, though I don't see how this will work with the base PS4, what was compromised?.
Dynamic time and weather was probably absent from GT Sport because they chose to base the skybox on static photos, which looks a lot more realistic than the simulated weather in GT5 and GT6 for example. Now they seem to have developed a method to render more realistic clouds, so they aren’t limited to static photos anymore.

Best features doesn't mean all tracks. Could be the best of the tracks in the franchise. Maybe not all them. Variable weather, car customisation are some other of GT's best features.
Shoot. I'd love to see all the tracks across all GTs make it in this game. We';ll see what happens during the next 10 years.

Unless, they haven’t been working on content, but rather game mechanics.
Except that modellers don't work on game mechanics. The studio is made up of people with specific specialisations - you can't just tell a bunch of artists to start working on physics and AI.

"as you navigate over 90 track routes in dynamic weather conditions"
Sounds to me like it does say that
Does anyone know how many routes does GTS have currently? That will give us at least a rough idea of how many new (or new/old in the case of stuff like Trial Mountain) tracks to expect.

Probably an oversight.

I've seen it mentioned in this thread that it's 84 in GTS. Add High Speed Ring Fwd and Reverse and Trial Mountain Fwd and Reverse and we're up to 88 tracks already... that's if they don't drop any existing ones. Doesn't really leave much to be revealed :indiff:

Wasnt mention but imo rt will be only on replays or before race moments (and thats normal ps5 is not rt powerhouse)

Add Daytona Oval and Road Course and you have 90.

I'll have "just" the 90 tracks if it means we can create some good Custom Races, with competitve AI.

Look at Project CArs with all those tracks and ACC with limited tracks(on console). I have awesome races due to the AI alone. Racing repeadtedly in ACC is no problem when everything works good(good car choices, changeable conditions, compettitive AI).
PD look to have given us some classic tools to have fun with building our car collection. The racing aspect, we'll have to see, when more is shown.

I believe the number of 420 cars and over 90 layouts isn't final yet as we don't have a complete car list, and I think they'll update it over time when we get closer to launch. I could be wrong though, but I honestly think it really won't be enough despite the fact that the trailer alone gives off the feeling we're gonna have a huge amount of cars.

I think the graphics looks stunning. The ray tracing really adds alot with cars reflecting others headlights, raindrops etc.
I just hope the trail mountain near the tunnel section part of the trailer that looked like it was running at 30fps isn't 30fps with raytracing or 60fps without. That will be a huge kick in the man vegetables.
Now where them Honda Preludes at........on red rock valley, with the Renault Espace F1 car.

Executive summary of my opinions below

Livery editor options good
High Speed Ring good
Novelty Willys Jeep bad
Other new cars good
Names of vehicles in-race bad
Lack of other new tracks bad
Extravagant menus bad
Focus on photo mode bad
GT1 reference in trailer good
Relying on nostalgia to sell a brand new game bad
Selling a game on graphics but limited in-race gameplay footage looking near identical to GT sport bad

Most people seem to forget that what they are seeing here is not final gameplay. The game won't be out for months and they can change so much in that period. GT7 looking like GTS in this stage of development, even the reveal trailer last year, is a great thing. GTS looks amazing. Of course you expect an upgrade, but it's not like going from Project Cars 2 graphics to PC3. I think that the game will look even better in March.

Your point on relying on nostalgia is also not entirely true, for me at least. I completely agree with what you say about it, selling a game based/relying on nostalgia is never a good idea, only leads to dissappointment. Now in my opinion this game is not relying on nostalgia. I have never played any previous GT game and started with GTS 2 orso years ago. I can't be more excited about this game. It looks great for players relatively new to the series and I think it's a great nod to the older games (basing that statement on what I've read from other people).

Focus on photo mode is a weird one, it is a racing game so their top priority should be racing, cars and imo AI improvements. With that said I still think that photo mode is a significant feature in GTS and it kept me with the game when the gameplay was a bit dry. Seeing that they're improving on what they had makes me very excited with all the new posibilities.

Completely agree with the menu thing, it looks cheap and tacky. I hope they'll reverse to the one from the 2020 trailer. Talking about menu's, I hope their not as painfully slow as GTS's. I don't expect it since it will be releasing on the PS5.

Lack of new tracks might be a very bad thing for this games release. Like others have stated, it could mean that the campaign is short and unsatisfying to play.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean with names of vehicles in race. You mean like the name tag above opponents cars? They do look kinda big, but I assume that's customizable. Has to be for a modern title.

Livery and customization options look stunning to me. Looking like exactly what I want/need in a car game.

How can you dislike the Jeep? I mean it's a new car and that's always good, doesn't matter if it's a Jeep or a Lamborghini. The more the merrier, right?

I'm really hoping that this game will be good and have a ton of single player content that's enjoyable and rewarding. Can't wait for March!

About time and weather. From the website:
In GT7, a more natural and realistic variable time system and weather effect system have been recreated. Referencing a massive amount of meteorological observation data, including those from the academic databases of NASA, GT7 recreates spatial/time of day conditions for particle size distribution and concentration distribution of aerosol particles in the atmosphere on a global environmental scale. As a result, this feature unique to the Gran Turismo series can express real and complex sky patterns and changes in light for different times of day and weather conditions.
They don't just slap lighting change and wet effects but they have to recreate a time and weather visual condition based on real thing. Which is good. Like someone saying..."it is ever raining on Willow Springs?" I forgot who is it LOL.

More than 420 cars is too specific to become more than 429 cars. More than 90 layouts won’t surpass 100. There’s always the chance for DLC though.

You know, despite that I can be misunderstood and be labeled as that, I actually hate nostalgia bias. I'd always try to give reasons other than nostalgia to include old features, like keeping cars seen in old GT games as GT's perk of including them that are not present in many other games (even if it's present in GT games), and also trying them in new physics, or that wanting to include tuning part names (like TRD) as an educational factor, or for map menu I'd think it's unique among racing games where many others use Windows 8 format, etc.

For the menu though, I had a bit complaint too for the previous one of giving non-detailed buildings, which the newer one has. I'd think it's best for us to let us customize which type of menu to use, but at least it has day/night cycle which I want for map menu.

But it's also wrong for people to counteract those by thinking those that are "good, remarkable, enjoyable" in the past are only that because of the nostalgia goggles, and treat as if any past stuff are bad and outdated now and only good in their time, and won't accept the alternatives.

Every good GT is great for new players, this isn't a game with plot that requires you to follow the previous games.

Well, we can expect snowy and wet conditions at Tsukuba. Many Best Motoring videos show lots of wet conditions at that track.
