For me the biggest "hope" for AI was Aventador making pretty nice overtake of BAC MONO on red bull ring gameplay. Offcourse after that it slapped the brakes on exit, but this could be due to loosing control a little bit.

Starting at about 1:00

If that is that is the part you are talking about, the Aventador doesn't overtake the BAC Mono. It is the BAC that tries to overtake and that is a 300hp car about to overtake a 700hp+ car on the straight after even lifting on the very beginning of the straight.

The question is, how reflective of the final product was the Deep Forest footage, or any footage for that matter.

What I mean by this is, was that footage directly captured from gameplay, or was that a scripted replay more akin to a benchmark test (and yes this does happen and no its not actually that hard to do)?

The former would be a good direction for the AI, the latter would mean we still don't know.
And also, if it was direct gameplany, we have no idea the context. were these arcade races on easiest difficulty? Nobody actually knows, so we should really wait until 4th March before jumping to conclusions!

Yeah but i thought Aventador did brake later to defend from inside overtake.

I did mislead in discussion calling it overtake, sorry my bad.

Final prediction for todays event:
Sony AI had a breakthrough on autonomous driving AI,it will be feeded to their Sony Car and their car AI department.
The event will be a race between this new AI and some World Tour participants commentaded by Tom Brooks.
Now,they might not identify who's in each car to show how human the AI behaviour is.
Or it might go full silly and show someone like Igor Fraga racing and losing to the AI.
Event ends with Kaz saying the new tech will help PD with the next GT or something like that.

Hit the nail on the head 👍

They couldn't, actually in the second game one of the best things of the game is the AI.

"They’re able to sneak through environments in a way that it was just impossible to do on the PS3 because we were very limited in our resources to do anything."
Do you actually think about what you type, or do you just sort of roll your face on the keyboard and hope for the best? This is what you were replying to.
I think Naughty Dog spent their time and resources on other things.
They had limited resources on PS3. They chose not to spend them on AI. Just because they couldn't make TLOU2 level AI, doesn't mean that the TLOU1 AI couldn't have been better if they wanted to sacrifice other things.
Game developing doesn't work like that, they had tecnical problems, hardware limitations, engine limitations etc
I'm unconvinced you have any idea what you're talking about. I think you've heard some buzzwords that you think you can use as excuses for your pet developers. If Polyphony want to make good AI, they can if anyone can.

In a few parts of the State of Play presentation you could see some AI losing control and spinning in the corners.Did that happen in GT Sport and earlier GTs?
Yes, racing in GTS this occurred quite recently. I can’t remember the track but I was going around a tight right hander following closely behind an ai opponent when we passed another ai that had spun out. I’ve had the ai make mistakes previously as well, it’s rare but does happen.

Funny thing just came to my mind while reading this. Sometimes GT Sport AI can go full bonkers and will go for a corner on full throttle crashing to the wall xD It happened to me some times on early version of the game.

You can transfer your DR/SR too apparently from GT Sport.
Hmmm...that " If you have Livery data that contains paint applied to the Car Livery, you will need enough in-game credits at the time of import for the paint to be transferred." is potentially ominous. I mean, I know it's the .01%, sort of laugh at them getting screwed over as opposed to them getting catered to, but...if you have filled up your Livery Limit in GTS and ALL of them have special paints...you could get your lovely 1,100,000 or 1,600,000 credits and then have it disappear because GT7 decided to load in their creations. And they'll inevitably jump on social media or...here, and complain loudly and I'll just nod as I will have foreseen this coming. Granted, I doubt you'll be able to load in the codes until after you've purchased your first car 'cause that transfer is gonna hurt. Also, I guess it depends on how much paint costs in GT7.

I’m not 100% sure but I recall seeing the option to purchase in-game currency as a top up sort of option for your wallet. If so, you could always get the different paint colours this way.

From the looks of things, it probably won't, but certain cars and items will be available for purchase in either Brand Central or GT Auto.
Do we know where we'll buy things like wheels, paints, decals, suits, etc? Are they the stuff likely to move to GT Auto?

You foresaw PD allowing the transfer of liveries but that the paints would cost in-game credits in the new game if they were applied in GT Sport?

Can we discuss this week's Euromillions results, I'd like to buy a ticket.

Disagree.

When people talk about the deep forest video i think they are mainly focusing on the Mazda going on the outside before the hairpin and the player going full throttle in some parts while the AI still driving away.
I would guess that AI on straights might be faster and they will over take each other more or divebomb, but the mid corner braking will still be there and they will be sloooooow on exits.

I guess someone else noticed that the roll bar on the 356 A Speedster is now gone.
Maybe it needs to be installed in GT Auto?

I just don't get how they're so bad at doing good AI with so many resources. Kunos, who I think had like 20 employees at the time of the original AC, managed to program a pretty good AI. I'm a very fast driver, and I have to put in a decent shift to beat the AI on Alien, and they're great fun to race against too.

Imagine what PD could do if they actually tried
There were only 2 person working on AI for PD.... and yeah PD is still quite small team at that time with 110 employees. Now apparently they have 300 employees.

They had 150+ employees by 2011 and "about 200" by 2017. That 110 figure on the website was just never updated for years.

But yes, clearly they never bothered to expand the AI staffing when they were hiring, focussing on other areas.

Top comment on this: Is the GT-One coming to GT7 though?

Shows where most peoples interest is I guess
A lot of people request about GT-One i don't understand why PD can't put it yet in the game.

They have the 1998 model in the Toyota museum Japan, the Road Car and 1999 model in Germany, easy to scan and whatever things they do.
