Amazon Australia listings reveal box art for PS5's Returnal, Sackboy, Demon's Souls, Destruction Allstars and GT7.

But I will post GT7, only:

That cover with the mysterious blue concept car where nobody could even tell what it really is. It's not final though, so it may be something else.

But really, anyone want to take a guess as to what that mysterious blue concept car is?

Just to be clear.

This is an update from Amazon Australia for preorder. Not all of these games will be released in 2020. For example, Returnal will be released in 2021 according to a developer. We don't know launch line-up yet

The plot thickens! :)

PD have always been very close to release date before sharing any news, if we go back to GT Sport's release as a rough example and my dates
are nowhere near spot on I remember the announcement trailer was around May 2016 and then it was not until July 2017 that we got the actual pre-order details and editions available for the October release date.

I don't recall many articles in between giving us much info other than what I can find on GT Planet.

Are you forgetting the huge launch event in London and website which covered the vast majority of the game right from the off, with a release date that they then missed by a long way? Even still we knew just about everything on the game right from the start, but of course editions weren't finalised until close to the actual release.

For GT7 we've had one trailer and nothing else. Their website has zero information, just a single news article with the trailer and "we announced GT7" text.

As @Samus said there's usually a wealth of inforamtion about the game a long time prior to release. It#s just the pre-orders and special editions etc. that aren't set and finalised until close to release and it makes sense to do that.

If they opened the pre-orders and special editions too soon the promised content might not be finalised and/or developed. That means it could be cut dor any number of reasons. In additoin you need to commit to a release date (of coursse it can slip) when you start taking pre-orders or at the very least give an idea of when it will release. You're just making early promises when you have a lot less certainty over the final details if you do it too soon.

Regarding everyone that says "there must be X months beforehand to hype it up or it isn't happening", they could release this game tomorrow and the internet would do it's job to create widespread praise. Unfortunately we're at the mercy of Sony and their marketing team, not just PDs bad community relations. They know what they're doing and on the brink of next gen, everyone is on edge for information.

It's just unlikely in general for Sony to launch a console with a huge first party game from an established series, because launch titles just don't sell that well generally, because of the low install base. Plus the fact launch titles tend to turn out pretty rough. First party PS4 launch titles were Knack, Killzone and Driveclub. Two new Ips (one of which got delayed) and a sequel to a series that was never hugely popular.

Someone mentioned Spider man and that is actually another good example, because it's only a smaller spin off game to a game that only had one entry. Granted it's obviously a huge franchise generally but yeah, it's still not a full blown sequel.

Things can always change of course but historically it's usually been that way, save the huge established series for 6 months + into the gen.

Pre-orders are a big deal as well as limited or special editions that include bonus content or free DLC packs down the line. And the actual hype before release really does boost early sales. Of course it would probably still sell well if it did just come out tomorrow (provided it wasn't on the PS5 which isn't availalbe yet), but it wouldn't sell as well as it could, so why clip your own wings and ignore the proven benefits of building the hype, anticipation and expectation with a managed launch build up.

Not final art but still neat.

Wonder if that's Amazon dreamt up art or Sony art, never seen that image anywhere before so it's got to have come from somewhere. Interesting design.

I know some may think this means we will be getting GT7 sooner rather than later but remember, placeholder GT art has been know to appear on shelves years before the game arrived!

All but possibly Returnal will be unofficial/fan made/retailer made. Any official Sony artwork would have the studio logos on, even if they're not final.

It’s literally Kaz’s Twitter banner. It’s a placeholder.

Xbox have fired the first shot in this face-off, so hopefully there's more information about the PS5 coming in the next few days. It could give some indication about when we'll get GT7 if it really is a launch title.

I was not aware there was a London event, that was during a time when I wasn't really as up to speed with news and reveals about games.

There is still time for information reveals, I mean we don't even have the reveal price/release date of the PS5 yet and somehow it wouldn't surprise me if Gran Turismo 7's next info burst isn't tied in with that somehow.

That said aside from FIA events we haven't really had much info from PD at all since the last update in June with the Mazda.

It's all going exactly as I expected though as my strong feelings are news to start coming during the rest of this month/October but we shall see!

There is time, but I just can't see Sony launching a major sequel to one of their biggest first party series as a launch title based on just two months of promo at the most. Even Gran Turismo 6 has 7 months of promotion and build-up.

Again, Spider-Man, that's more believable because it's a small spin-off game that they've said is only 7-10 hours long. It doesn't need months of promo because of that, it's basically more of the same as the PS4 game but much shorter. Besides, there is already a fair bit of info on that game - https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/spider-man-miles-morales-ps5-release-date-trailers-and-news

Far more than we have for GT7, which again, is essentially nothing.

PS this was the GT website in October 2015, shortly after they announced it - https://web.archive.org/web/20151031051136/http://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/products/gtsport/

The core of the game was already laid out, which was then expanded on at the London event in May 2016. Here are all the articles - https://www.gtplanet.net/tag/gt-sport-london-event/

Situation is too different today.

Demon Souls is a potential candidate for the launch and yet we've only seen a few images, nothing more. But nothing at all !

I'm not saying GT7 will be released this year. Actually, I don't know... Like all of you. We have no choice to wait for Sony.

I only see Harvey Norman showing Gran Turismo 7. JB Hi-fi and EB Games don't show anything(other than PS5 and mentioning games are in development) on their sites.

Demon's Souls is a third party remake though, very different.

Most sites are not properly listing PS5 consoles or games at all yet because Sony haven't set the prices for either. Some sites in the UK have a "set your interest" for both the consoles and games, 1 pence.

For sure. The Harvey Norman site seem to post what was recently "found" on sites in above posts.

Have you seen this? They are definitely promoting the game in a way :

Not really, that's just promoting the features of the console using footage from the same 2 minute trailer. Nobody is going to find that specifically looking for GT7 coverage and it's nothing new for anyone that has already seen the full trailer. It doesn't advance or excite anyone.
