As admirable as I think the Scapes feature was in GT Sport and as much as I'm impressed with its evolution in GT7, I don't know if I'll really be using it much. I think I'll mostly use it to showcase cars with various custom parts equipped, rather than cars left as-stock. To be honest, I think a car's place is on the track, so I think that when I take photos in GT7, the overwhelming majority of them will be Race Photos, whether they're taken during campaign events, time trials, or missions.

But man, am I hyped for the game otherwise.
Kaz(and alot of other people in the car industry) think of cars as art pieces,i'm not surprised there is such a big focus on scapes, the Race photo mode is very exciting i agree,so many crazy moments online to capture with PD's crazy amount of image detail

I don't disagree at all, though, especially the designs by Pininfarina. Last October or so, I actually visited the Museum of Modern Art in NYC where they had a limited-time exhibit on cars - including a Cisitalia 202 GT, a design by Pininfarina. They also had some other iconic cars, like an older Porsche 911, a Fiat 500, a Citroen DS, and others.

Fun fact: They had a version of "Unique Forms of Continuity in Space" on display within another gallery, too, which many here will know as the FIA-GT Championships trophy.

I’ve ended up using scapes more over the past year, just another element to try when I feel burnt out with races

Scapes are good when you want to photograph multiple cars from your garage. Especially, new liveries you’ve created. Setting up A race scene we couldn’t get by doing race. Now, hopefully, we can set up a custom race with our garage cars and watch those scenes in replays.

Yeah, imagine the possibilities if they added/returned historic variants of tracks such as Monza... Would be amazing for some period correct race photography

Those are SW88s on the Integr. Yes, Son!
Oh my word, if we can use the smaller diameter wheels. Some of the wheels in the game look noticeably smaller than others. Such as the Weds wheels.

The wheels on the EK9 SSR Formula Aero Mesh? :)

Could be Enkei 92s that are in GT Sport

It’s possible, but trying to find the center cap protruding.

I imagine some of the track (and car) production slowdown for GT7 is probably a result of COVID. I'm sure PD's production pipeline was significantly slowed down in 2020.

I dream of having late '60s Formula 1 cars and historic versions of some of those tracks in GT.

I feel that it's a missed opportunity to not include the older layouts of their fantasy tracks such as Deep Forest and Trial Mountain. I've already seen people in this thread alone annoyed at their old layouts being gone for these new, FIA style ones. They make sense for Sport Mode, but there should be options for the original layouts for people that wanted to race on the original layouts and isn't playing GT7 for sport mode.

It also could play into their own fictionalized history theme they have going for them in GT7. They mentioned Trial Mountain in the original trailer for having its own track history like it was a real race track. Having the original layout as an option could play into that more. Plus it would still make sense as plenty of racing games including GT in the past have included historic versions of race tracks.

GT4 had the 80s and 90s layouts of Fuji, GT6 had the 80s layouts of Monza and Brands Hatch, Project Cars 2 had 60s Spa and La Sarthe. Both AC and PC2 had historic Monza including the Oval. PC1 & 2 had an earlier version of Hockenheim. and I'm sure there's more examples than that. but my point is that early tracks could be beneficial to the series.

Actually, I remember Kaz said something that the surfaces of the tracks having curbs as large as an entire car, so therefore, the PS3-era assets weren't good enough to work with on the PS4 and PS5, thus, requiring Polyphony to re-work and re-imagine these tracks.

Just because Yamauchi says something, doesn't make it correct. The kerb excuse was just a cover to completely redesign the tracks, because clearly, having kerbs wider than the car isn't a showstopper for PD...

At launch. We know for a fact from the State of Play showcase that more cars/tracks are coming in updates.

Which is why I prefaced my statement with currently.

Definitely. However travelling abroad isn't required for fictional tracks, so I don't buy it as an excuse besides overcoming the issue of office logistics.

There were large chunks of time during the pandemic where people could not go to their office and getting everyone set up with WFH is a huge challenge in development and even if you do, your production is going to take a massive hit initially.

By this interview, look like real tracks were closed as well:

Real life racetracks have been closed and the opportunity to go for long drives isn't quite there as it used to be. I wonder if you've been able to enjoy real life driving while all this happened, and whether you've been able to keep your love of cars alive somehow.

Kazunori Yamauchi:
Actually, COVID gave me an opportunity to drive my cars more. I still drive on the Tokyo Expressway every night in my Porsche GT3.

I did notice the Integra on SW388s but didn't think anyone here would care lol. I'm most pumped about that
I'm glad Polyphony are still adding some new wheel types. I hope to see GT get licensing for Ronal/Speedline. I feel like the Ronal LS (basically E30 basketweaves remastered) and Ronal Turbo wheels are must haves, along with a couple other iconic wheels from Speedline.
