First the news about a 12 year old joining the Mercedes AMG driving academy and now the 2 discs for the PS4 version of GT7.

Might as well just bring out the wheel chair at this point. Anyone up to teach me how to do some sick drifts in one?

Question (if anyone knows the answer)
In the State of Play video, when KaZ discusses Mission Races, he mentions Drag Racing, which could be pretty damn cool.

But, Is this mode limited to only versing the A.I in Mission Races, or is this something we can actually set up in lobbies? Because if we could set up actual drag races with real opponents (with engine swops).. that'd be amazing! I really want to see wheelies in GT7 ASAP lol

I'm hoping for drag enthusiasts sake that lobby capability is the case. There will be some backlash if it isn't that's for sure, but I'm also wondering how it would work too?

It would work with a countdown timer like a standing start race. Of course, I don’t know this at all, but that’s how it could work. Players that enter the track, could be in a line up.

As the poster above suggested, I think standing start and they have bouts of maybe.. best of 3 in a lobby. And the rest of the lobby waits for their turn 😎

I know they at least did something like this in GT3, but I think it's a lot more interesting this time around. Instead of just increases in performance, it seems that there are regional events, too, like a Japanese Clubman Cup, or the aforementioned Sunday Cup Classic at Goodwood. Hopefully we'll still get some returning events from prior GT games, as well as new ones with interesting regulations. That Sunday Cup Classic has already piqued my interest. For example, we don't know if it's restricted to cars from before 1980, or before 1970.

EDIT: And furthermore, I know that so far, there haven't been many events seen with a PP limit, but I'm hoping we'll be able to see identical regulations for almost any event (with enforceable PP limits) online, whether it's in a championship, or at least as an option in lobbies.
I know and as I've discussed to you before (of which you didn't reply, on the how the career mode works thread), there are regional versions of the events. Just that, unlike events that has broad range within a car type like Drivetrain type (and also I think, manufacturer events like GT-R Cup, it can have a high level one in featuring max. tuned GT-R and racing version of GT-Rs like Super GT ones), I don't know what's the variation and range of events like Sunday Cup or Clubman Cup, of which those are only random, original GT name of its starter events (If you can explain your interest regarding GT original events I'd want to know, I know that car type events can be so varied if they want though).

GT's problem before is entering any events with cars way out of their league though so it's actually better to use PP limit, probably they just didn't set up the PP limit for those events yet (PP No Limit is a placeholder).
What do you think of the idea of me journaling my way through GT7's campaign when it comes out? I'm simply afraid nobody would be interested, regardless of my writing style. Would people do that? I suppose it's like a Let's Play in the very classic sense, where they used to write about the game alongside screenshots of the game. This is opposed to what's arguably the more popular form of Let's Play, where you improvise live commentary on a game as you're playing it, and the whole thing is broadcasted on say, Twitch.

Take the general way of how SomethingAwful used to do Let's Plays, and then add a lot more class to it. That's what I had in mind.

EDIT: My take on an LP would be purely text-based, too, and new entries would be posted not long after I'm done with the corresponding time I spent actually playing the game.
Actually I'd encourage for more deep discussions for practically anything. Though dunno if the campaign in the game lives up to your current interest now.

Actually honestly, sometimes the special variations of the events being held only as minor part of the campaign, like drags only being relegated at Driving Missions can hurt IMO. It's like how in GT5, the rally being only held at Special Events section with GT Rally diminishes the rally part of GT even if that kind of rally was the more accurate take PD has done to actual rally, as well as any knowledge regarding NASCAR of the actual NASCAR events featuring none of those. I'd rather see the drag races taking the World Circuits part of the events, and by that probably it can be set up at lobbies too.

I don't know the answer, but it would be nice if it was like what they had in Motor City Online(MCO),with some improvements.
You could bet money/credits or you could race for pink slips, lose the race, you lose your car.
I want to say you could set HP limits and the track temperature/weather.
Once you were staged at the Xmas tree your bets were locked in,if you hit the exit button before race for whatever reason, you lost your wager.
It was intense to say the least, you had to be hella fast.
It would be nice if you could set up a lobby/room and set all the parameters ,could be alot of fun.

How soon will well known reviewers get copies of GT7 to review before release? Is it usually 2 weeks before release or closer? I imagine it'll be soon to create some additional buzz for the release of the game, no?

I'm sure within the next two weeks they'll get vouchers for the game. We're still waiting on Jordans Sophy interview so I'm sure once that's out of the spotlight, more information will trickle out. We're getting rather close and I haven't seen any advertisements. It's kind of strange.

Let's face it. They could easily implement a lot of features in online that are already developed in the game, but much like Rally, it will be half assed and left dormant in favor of other aspects of the game.

GT1 had wheelies.

You'd hope that reviewers start to get playing it soon so that they have a decent amount of time to get through the game and form a solid opinion. Ideally they'd get the opportunity to get 40+ hours of varied gameplay under their belts before an embargo lifts probably a few days before release.

Don't know how in depth PD is willing to go with engine swaps but at least players will learn the name of the engine in every car.
Also,i've been wondering if the "measure" button is another way of players knowing if the car needs an oil change or engine repair.Maybe the car will even lose PP over time(this could be a nightmare for the tuning people 😂)

No, there's a Conditions menu to know if a car needs oil change or engine repair:

Though it's good that there are more to learn with engine name in the Tuning menu, I think there'd still be another thing PD can add to have the players learn something more.

If you know tuning it wouldn't be a nightmare, but I am looking forward to tuning though 🙂.

Interesting that the engine can actually need reapir.

I wonder if specific parts get damaged over time, or if it's a "body rigidity" type of repair where one button+credits fix everything in the engine.

Measure will run a series on benchmark tests after you've applied upgrades or changed tuning variables. So it'll show the baseline that you have versus what will happen if certain things are changed. Forza has done a similar thing for a while.
