I almost had a scare when I came home from work and saw my PS5 blinking white. Something must've happened when I tried to shut down this morning, but after an unplug and plug back in it was back to normal. This happened with my old PS4, but hopefully it won't happen again with GT7 around the corner.

It would be a shame if tuning was never used in dailies but there needs to be a clear distinction for players, one daily slot with tuning always open or create a Race D just for tuners.
I definitely think there’ll be a player base to support a daily race D that could be added. But three or at absolute minimum two should be kept with BoP and no setups to keep things even-steven.

I love that PP and tuning will be used in Sport Mode.

I'm gonna take so much joy in taking crappy cars, tuning the handling to the best of their abilities, and beating drivers who will just use the meta instead of letting loose and having fun. I won't even have to win, if I can just manage podiums I'll be satisfied.
This was my approach to open lobbies in GT5/6.
Every 500pp race was a grid full of RGT's; NSX's; RX500's. And then me, in a Toyota Tacoma, usually dead last but probably having the most fun.

..and we all know the reason why. GTS let you buy cars with real cash, now you can straight up swap real cash for credits.

How this isn't a bigger outrage I don't know. Maybe it'll pick up steam once the game is actually released and we know the exchange values, but this is so far away from "GT won't contain any microtransactions" of a few years ago when GT fans were bashing the competition for having far less obvious MTs. This pops up every time you buy anything in GT7, and nudges you towards the MT option if you're short of credits.
Don't want to start a versus match. But I'm telling you. If Forza or any other game like Grid Legends did this, people would be at those devs throats, and they know it. It's not surprising people won't mention that because GT is big in name. So PD can practically do whatever they please, including adding MTs.

I have no problem grinding for a high end car that I need (or really, really want) if I can either:

  • have fun doing it..
  • and/or it advances me in the career mode
  • and/or it takes no longer than an hour

Any longer than that, yeah… I have no issues ponying up a few bucks. My screen time is limited, and time is money. No shame in my game

That’s why I’m hoping for an implementation of a version of Sophy in the next 18-24 months or so. My guesstimate is this will happen right around the time they start phasing PS4 out of updates, PSVR2 hits, as well as PS5 pro

I agree. I like having the option of just paying a couple bucks to get a car I really want. I work a full time job and unfortunately just don’t have time to grind away like I used to. As long as I don’t HAVE to pay real money, I don’t see the big deal. It’s just an option.

Here's another review I didn't see shared here if you feel like watching:

Yummy.

I just realized they still have the wrong wheels fitted to the CLK LM.

Speaking of, does anyone know if there's a list of custom wheels available somewhere?

Or PD/Sony could make it so you don't have to grind for hours to get one car and not have MT. That's the big deal. That they purposely try to push you towards paying real money, even if it's not strictly required. I don't get why you'd just be accepting of that.

Grinding and paying real money shouldn't be the only two options on the table.

I am going to remain cautiously optimistic because of my experiences with MLB The Show, a first party sports game, just like GT7.

In The Show, they have their version of "Ultimate Team" called Diamond Dynasty. I don't play it, as I dislike sports fantasy and everything it has spawned so I stick to Franchise Mode or Road to the Show.

But I know people who play the hell out of Diamond Dynasty and they sing the praises of Sony for making it absolutely unnecessary to pay real money for player cards, unlike EA, for instance.

And I'm not sure if this will make me sound like a corporate apologist scumbag but if a few people with FOMO want to spend real money, perhaps that will allow for more and better updates throughout the course of GT7's lifecycle. Just a thought, really.

I'm accepting of this, because its video game companies evolving with the times. That's good-ol' fashioned capitalism at work. No ones holding a gun to your head saying you have spend real money

FWIW, I didn't do one micro transaction in GTS. Looking back, I probably wished I had as it would saved me more than a few mind-numbing hours pounding out laps against the brain dead AI. I didn't even buy the Lewis Hamilton DLC because I didn't;t feel like it was worth it.

FWIWWIW....... if the AI didn't blow in Gran Turismo, I would be more apt to grinding it out for cars. Hell, if I could battle it out against the likes of ACC's AI, I would be happier than a pig in slop!!

My PS4 base digital edition unlocks at Midnight Eastern time March 4th. If I set the time region on the PS4 to the most forward possible will that unlock the game earlier? If it does work we should all spread this information so no one is needlessly behind.

No, it unlocks based on your account region's time zone. You'd have to buy the game on a NZ account to have it earlier.

Many things just went through my head that I cannot say on this site (but may say on other sites). There is no point in companies restricting like this, but I will try to make an account in the region with the most forward time to get content for y'all as soon as possible.

To be fair, many games release simultaneously worldwide regardless of time zones, I don't know what the case is for GT7.

I won't be able to use my wheel set-up since I'm still suffering from some cyatic pain when I extend my shins while seated, but I'm still definitely looking forward to diving into this on friday. Got this off my chest as well.

This is the finish that finally dragged me to 50 and bagged me platinum on Sport just in time to move on to the next big thing. I was in cockpit view without HUD so I didn't see where the AI was as I drifted toward the wall. Didn't hit the barrier until after the line so clean race bonus was intact. I'm so glad they ditched the driver levels. That is the worst grind I've ever done in any game. GT7 can't arrive soon enough!

Yes, that way is the most fair.
And yet to us on this side of the date line it doesn't feel fair if you guys get to play a game on Friday 4th and we have to wait until what would be Saturday 5th. For us it's better if we all start at the same time and date regardless of where we live. Edit: Which is less than 10 hours away now :D

I've been frustrated by this probably more times than you guys as we're the ones who normally get the short straw. ;)

Agree. This is a great way to support developers and keep the game running for some time. I imagine GT7 is somewhat a solid base that will only grow in size and will be filled with new content. Like my other favorite game - Destiny 2. And so far all updates the PD introduced for GT sport was 100% free. I think it's fair to have some microtransactions for not patient players with money.

I never did any mtx in GTS either. Except for the one time I was drunk but it wasn't much. Capitalism is predatory by nature and it's up to each individual to be savvy enough to navigate these shark infested waters. I'll admit that I've been drowning a bit lately so I have no interest in paying for any cars in GT7 at this time but, hey, I got a PS5, Fanatec, and an OLED so I'm straight!

Happened to me around the same time on the opposite side of the world. Must be a glitch in the matrix...

Remember when games released months apart in different format zones?
While not by format this still happens. We had to wait months after the US for the Tony Stewart Sprint Cars game and quite often the NASCAR games as well. Not a big deal to some but I grew up on Friday night speedway here. My dad even raced and I helped as crew on the car.
