I've been avoiding saying this, but as a designer I have to say that the UI is an absolute mess compared to all previous games.

Each "path" of the UI looks as if it's been done by a separate team each, with no cross-team communication or any senior designers overlooking everything a whole. GT Auto and World Circuits specifically are atrociously designed.

Compare what we've got to what was initially shown off at the first reveal, it feels like a downgrade, especially world map which just reminds me of the diagrams from these textbooks:

Maybe Polyphony's design team needs to do some UI reading of their own with this:

The UI is a mess of loading screen after loading screen. What makes it even worse is that ever single menu has its own theme so whenever I move between menus really fast I don't even get to hear any music aside from like the 2 seconds it plays while the next menu is loading.
Why the SQUAD song keep playing every time I grind the American Sunday Cup at Daytona? Literally that's the only song that plays and it always plays. Are songs scripted for events now, or is it because I disabled half the race soundtrack? :ouch:
I'm convinced the songs are scripted in this game. Either that or tracks will only play select songs. Ever single event I've done so far has been the same song repeated after it ends or just straight up doesn't play music.

For one of the Blue Moon Bay races for example, Vroom by Knuckles the Echidna was playing constantly over-and-over, and I kept spinning out and having to restart and that's the only thing that would play. I had enough and backed out to showcase to turn it off, re-enter, and now no music plays :guilty:

The game hasn't even arrived at my door yet, and I'm sat on this forum itching to hear about an update announcement.

🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Loading screens have absolutely nothing to do with the actual design . . . especially when they're a limitation of the platform (PS4)

Fingers crossed at some point they add in the '91+ S13 Silvia's with the SR20's in them. It SHOULDN'T take much to do from a modeling standpoint, and maybe to differentiate them more put in the digi-dash they had as an option.

I wouldn't want to see them as some big song and dance part of an update, but just quietly added. The SR's would just be a welcome addition.

Has anybody figured out a way to turn menu songs on and off? I don't know what Lenny Bizzare was smoking when he remixed the ****ing ice cream truck song but I got stuck in the livery editor listening to that trash for an hour straight and I'm going insane. The ice cream truck song and Blue Danube. If I wanted to listen to this crap I'd watch Fantasia. Lenny and Kaz, y'all gotta lay off the juice.

Speaking of which, overall I'm pretty disappointed with the menu music, that's the biggest letdown for me. I doubt I'll grow to love this stuff. Huge fan of the foreign language songs in GTS but GT7 is just boring.

Yeah the menu soundtrack is a bit of a mixed bag. In one sense the brand central music is really good and gives that "I'm looking at a shiny car" feeling, but the recycled music from GT5/6 is a bit boring. And GT Auto's music puts me to sleep. Even my mom, whom plays Gran Turismo too, said turn that elevator crap off.

Found something interesting in Scapes.

This look familiar to any of you?
I realise this could mean absolutely nothing (especially to a company based in Tokyo) but if you please excuse me I'm going to go and look far too much into fact that this is an exact angle of what you see coming up the road in Tokyo R246.

From all the things people are saying (short career mode, lacking options in online, no use for later licenses, middling car and track list etc etc) this game seems to suffer from the same broad problem that every GT game since 5 has. It'll be a far, far better game in 6-12 months after a bunch of updates.

It seems to be the case for all games of this type these days, it's only A>B story driven games that really seem to be complete on launch day, like Horizon FW, Spider-Man, that type of game. Sure they'll add expansions to those as well, but they're a coherent game that you can start and finish and feel like it's all there. Devs can't just go and patch in an extra bit of story content in the middle of those games and ask people to play through it all again. You can't have the story finish 80% done and expect people to wait for updates for the last 20%.

But for open-ended games like GT, where this is no linear A>B path, no story, and clear room for expansion in all areas, it does seem to need that. As I say, it's been the case for all online-era GT games and 7 seems no different. In 6-12 months the game will probably have 3-4 extra locations, ~50 new cars, a bunch of new races and events, major issues patched, and who knows what else content. It'll be quite simply an objectively better game.

Which for me is not a problem at all, I have such a big back log of stuff to play I rarely feel the need to buy games day one any more. I'll be very happy buying GT7 in 6-12 months and I'll surely experience a far better game than those buying it day 1 who then play the updates piecemeal as they come. I'll get to experience the original game along with all the updates fresh from the start, in one go, feeling like one cohesive game.

Of course I get why people want games on day 1, it'd be absurd to suggest people don't buy them or anything, but for those of us who don't mind waiting, it's going to be a far better experience a while down the line.

Which is a shame it has to be like that, but that's modern era gaming for you.
I kinda disagree,GT7 seems way more complete and focused than gt5 and gt6 and most critics who were disappointed in those games agree that gt7 has a good package from the get go,even if it isn't as long as earlier GT games.
I do agree that live service games take a life of their own with time but that's the just the nature of the Gaas model

Showcase/Media/Music

Ice cream music is the Entertainer written in 1902. Often considered one of the most popular songs in history. All the remixes seem to be classical-ish music. Incuding this, the most beautiful music ever written. :)

It's the GT Auto theme, got a kick out of hearing the remix in gt7,so goofy but fits with the silly gt auto.

Your not wrong there.Straight away i think of Platoon.

The recycled music from GT5/6 is a bit boring.
The worst part is that they didn't add the whole GT5/6 menu ost, I wanted to hear more from Yuki Oike, but it appears that it's been removed from the soundtrack, too bad since GTS had some themes from that artist. Another example is Cargo, they added DRUMACT, Piano-Logic, and Sequel, but not GT-Force which to my humble opinion is the best of them.
And to keep the things worse, most of these beautiful musics from GTS like Dream Machine, Symphonic Movement, Morenito and more didn't make the cut. BUT the new additions to GT7's menu soundtrack are excellent imo, i.e Hey Moloko, Squad, CIANOTIPO and Good old Days are great for menu soundtrack.

Even worse than GT5's gaudy turtle speed UI?

I mean, characters talking to you is not something usual for a Gran Turismo game.
But the campy/earnest/cozy vibe is all GT

This pic is hilarious 😂
There were files of R246 found in gtsport, would not be surprised if it's in one of the first updates.

Can someone explain to me, with the utmost eloquence, why the 787B drives like such, utter dog 🤬 on a hot and hazy summer day in this One Lap Magic mission?

It understeers like the front tires retract into the wheel wells. I literally do not understand.

Speaking about longevity, how long the singleplayer mode is compared to the previous GT's? Is it longer than GT1, GT6 and GTSport at least?

It seems this game will rely on a lot of updates to get much longer and complete in the next 1-3 years right? I say this because it seems they'll add many new events, features and content with DLC's. It has the potential to be longer than GT3 and GT4 giving them the time to enlarge the events and modes list. I'm expecting a lot of stuff arriving.

I went back and discovered that while you can modify the race BGM list, you cannot modify the menu BGM list. Which needs to be solved ASAP because there are multiple songs I can't stand. If I recall, we could modify the GTS menu playlist.

I see what you mean and I'd wager that...you're going to slow lol. I'd have to test other cars in the category but low-speed understeer is a common theme in real life, usually a combination of really tight LSD or spool diffs and massively wide tires, especially at the rear. The wider a tire is the less it wants to turn because of the rotational speed difference across the width of its footprint. They don't want to turn very well until cornering with enough speed to unload the inside tires. Karts are the extreme example of this because they don't have diffs at all.

That said, I felt some understeer but I didn't think it was especially bad lol.

Here's a quick change they should do immedietly.OPEN MULTIPLAYER FROM THE START.
Don't make people go on and on with cafe missions just to go online.
And i saw one of the comments in the video that suggested 5 daily races,3 BoP and 2 open tuning, sounds good.
I'm sort of amazed there is no online time trial. I'm sure it will come sooner or later but that's the only online event I can be bothered with.

One quick question about the new Audi R8 LMS EVO.

I swear to gosh I saw one in a race today with the brand-new EVO II wing on the rear, but I went to the dealership and it was just the wing that came on the 2019 car.

I haven't gotten the EVO yet because I spent my Gr.3 car money on the Ferrari 458, which was my main car in Sport.

Anyone that does have the R8 EVO, can you confirm that there is in fact an aero mod option to get the EVO II wing? I think if it is the case, that makes it the only Gr. car in the game with any sort of body alterations.

If it were the case it would also mean you can drive the 2019 car with a 2022-spec rear wing, but the whole car isn't the 2022 spec car. Really strange there.
