I mean look at GT1 on PS1 and GT7 on PS5 and tell me again the only thing that has gotten better are graphics.

There are so many things that have and will continue to improve thanks to more horsepower beyond “graphics”.
The underlying simulation has gotten so much more complex. From physics to AI to weather simulation a lot was achieved.

GTS to GT7 really did not evolve in that regard and that’s a bummer. The AI specifically is just pure nonsense.

GT7 is GTS at it’s core and it shows.
You've missed the second part of my post, though to be fair it was edited in so possibly edited while you were typing your responce. The answer is yes, improvement beyond graphics have been made in a number of ways, but you're specifically referring to SSD's and I fail to see how that would benefit a racing game beyond the reasons I've already mentioned. FTAOD I have created and published a game on the Google Play Store and while I am a far distance from the likes of where I would expect PD employees to be in terms of talent, I do have something of a grasp of many matters relating to game design and programming.

I´m no game designer and I assume same goes for you. I still feel confident in saying that new tech and more power has consistently pushed this medium forward.
There´s a reason why the step from GTS to GT7 feels incremental. It´s basically an iteration on the same foundation. Much like GT1 to 2 or 3 to 4. The steps to 3 or S felt like proper genrational leaps.

I think we´ll get that in the future. Either with with PSVR2 and however they will handle that or with GT8.
dont forget 5 to 6. to me the worst transition. GT5 ran badly at times at 1280x1080. So they go an increase it to 1440x1080, making GT6 look sooo ugly.

GT7 really is an iteration on the GTS foundation. It's basically GTS on Ultra if it came to PC. When they said the PS4 would have the game, I knew it was gonna be like this. They haven't began working with the PS5 in mind.

Look at their 25th anniversary video, they list and portray GT7 as a PS4 game, don't even recognize the launch of the PS5

Maybe a preview of the next game environments?

Look how there's tree moving in the wind. Highly detailed environments with butterflies at times. All of those small details are absent on gameplay, even on PS5. So I think these show the next game's environment quality during gameplay, when they upgrade their engine to run only on PS5.

Everything looks sterile again.

Look at the environments of the Forza Motorsport Ganeplay trailer. If we will get that level, GT looks outdated more and more,

I don’t think I could go there without letting out all my GT7-related frustrations, but that would be frowned upon. It’s either that or having a massive elephant in the room.
Yeah, it'd be indeed rude to just vent in the middle of a year-end party, honestly.

I know a lot of you, including myself, have problems with the game and all, but it doesn't mean PD can't have fun and/or relaxation on their own sometimes, you know. They're only human after all.

People may dislike the way PD handled the Stadard cars, but I could imagine the car list looking very different, if they’d kept modelling them for car count. Licencing notwithstanding, maybe, in GT7, we’d see just as many cars as Scapes. However, for 2000+ cars, that licensing bill might be high. :sly:

People keep saying Gran Turismo's models are better than insert game but is that actually the case? PD taking forever on each car doesn't automatically mean they're better quality. I guess their graphics engine makes the cars look nice and shiny but what about the models themselves?

The models are better you can clearly see it if you plsyed both Forza and gran turismo, they look more photorealistic, to me also the shape is offen more correct, the lights looks more natural in gran turismo as well, there is just more detail overall, Forza has some decent models but its very mixed some are really bad and have not been updated since the 360 days,

Forza has better enviroments for sure than gran turismo but worse looking car models
That where gran turismo really shine for
Does it really? I'd say the Forza's car models are absolutely on par with GT in Photo Mode (if not better, considering Forza actually models the engine bay). During gameplay, Forza has the edge in chase cam but GT has a significantly better interior model (most of that is down to the lighting and material shaders).

Clearly better, yes.

Even during gameplay the cars even in chase cam looks better in gran turismo in my opinion, even gt sport beat fm7 for car quality overall and it has no ray tracing, i find much more enjoyment with the cars in gran turismo proably also becouse the feel more different to each other campared to Forza, gran turismo is just so much more emotional for me when it comes to cars

Not really, in chase cam GT car model are not comparable. They are lower poly car models with super basic interiors vs Forza's fully photomode quality in game car models.

@Ande3200
Both gameplay

GT has the edge in interiors, and the scape models are better in general.

Forza has great car models for the most part. The only thing that annoys me about them is that Turn 10 still stubbornly doesn't remodel some of their older models from scratch. Some of the car models in the newer Forzas including the current Horizon still have models that may even go back to FM1. Yes, they were given better graphical textures and some modern things added like engine bays, but they failed to fix some of the polygonal issues they had since day one.

A few offenders I can think of off the top of my head are the Nissan Silvia S15, Toyota SW20 MR2, Dodge Viper GTS ACR, Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R, and Subaru Impreza 22B.

Yup thats true, there are still some inaccurate models in Forza. GT7's scape models are the most accurate and most detailed car models (engine excluded) out there. The small details and unique textures in every car in GT7 is unmatched.

So you've just admitted that you'll bring the mood down at a party.
I said I wouldn’t want to go to THAT party, because it’s fake and pretentious. The smiles you see there stem from the realization that the GT franchise has become an institution strong enough to withstand backlash from controversy, such as sacrificing GT7’s true potential in favor of pushing micro-transactions. What a pleasant thing?

@Lux Klonoa said they’re only human. Yeah indeed, and putting humanity’s questionable traits on display.

You think they are adding frequently requested cars to make us happy? They are only doing what needs to be done to keep us hooked on their cash machine. I’m sure Kaz is still driven by a genuine passion for cars, but Sony’s ambitions have outgrown his ability to steer the game in the right direction.

Oh so if you like GT7 you must be pretentious. Got it.

What’s with all these questions? I wasn’t invited and there’s good a reason why.
Would you wear a black or white dinner jacket?

And what drink would you elect for with your free drinks voucher?

;)

It does have its moments when you’re out there on the track just driving, but it could be so much more. Past GT titles have already proven what was possible back when micro-transactions didn’t influence game design.

Remember how you could actually earn credits in GT5 because your PSN friends took your B-Spec drivers racing while you were asleep, or how you got a credits income bonus for logging into GT6 for consecutive days? GT7 just feels like it wants to eat your wallet every chance it gets.
