The Carrera GT is notorious for its unfriendliness, which was arguably what killed Paul Walker. Its lap record on the Nürburgring was clocked by none other than the legendary Walter Röhrl, who knew a thing or two about handling difficult cars.
I will quote Walter Röhrl on this: "The only difficulty with this car is launching with the clutch, after that it drives like a 50hp Golf."

The Porsches in general are setup to be extremely forgiving and easy to control at the limit. That is also what what Walter Röhrl said on several occasions, the only reason this is even a discussion is the accident of Paul Walker which attorneys try to use to make money off by giving Porsche the fault. And of course some boulevard media caught up with it.

Didn't Walter Röhrl also said "the first car in my life that I drive and I feel scared."?

That is taken out of context by the media as well. He said that during early testing of a prototype in heavy wet conditions before the car was set up properly. He also said it behaves horribly and he wouldn't even want it if it was a gift but that was before they began involving him and getting good setup to be easily manageable by everyone.

Played acc last night for several hours on my gt dd pro. **** me, mind blown. Incredible ffb, immersion, physics etc. Felt more natural, intuative tbh, although I'm a very average driver, so not particularly quick. Was surprised how easy it was to get into tbh, had the expectation I'd be spinning off left right and centre from stuff I've read about it. When I did overrun/ spin, it was clear why, no head scratching or frustration.

I'd recommend giving it a go, so rewarding, enjoyable.

I'll have to give AC another try. These are interesting comments, as I'm relative late comer to racing games, well car racing. I've played motogp all my life, and Ride etc. Got into car racing during lockdown when bought a driving rig to combat boredom 😁. Started with f1 and GT Sport. Now on gt7.
Interestingly I tried AC and hated it. Found the physics less intuitive, and tbh thought the graphics were awful, almost ps2 like.
With everything I'd read I thought I'd be blown away, but I was underwhelmed 🤷‍♂️.
Maybe I was calibrated for GT!!
I'm playing on ps5, with NLR rig, Fanatec pedals and csl elite wheel.

PC or PS5? I got the ps5 one and ot just seemed like so many settings I had no idea what was optimum.

The graphics of AC are waaay out-of-date. Next version is apparently coming out in 2024.

Maybe you're getting AC and ACC confused, the latter's only having been out for a few years.
I got both, sorry i meant ACC, but tbh I didn't see a marked difference between the two🤷‍♂️ 😕.
I'm going to give ACC another go 👍👍

Word. I tried to play GT7 again after only playing on pc for a while... What a hot mess. The tuning in GT is pretty crap, since the base physics are so off... But its pretty ok if not using a wheel... Its really evident how basic GT physics and ffb is once you try pc sims. The ffb in GT7 feels like a rubberband with some very vague effects added.

Try dirt rally 2.0, tuning make a huge difference in that game, and its an awesome immersive feeling when you get into the rythm of the codrivers calls and try to push your driving limits. Ffb is maybe not the best, especially on tarmac stages, but its miles ahead gt on loose surfaces.

Im still bummed about the wierd snap and oversteer in gt, but any mention of it in this thread is awarded with youtube videos or driving lessons. Oh well, hope they fix it.

And that thing with riding the kerbs, its just silly, never ever ever ever would a tire stay on the rim.

Exact the same for me,i‘m a beginner in both games (last GT was pt3 and bought acc few weeks later to have more food for my DD pro).Out of the box i felt more comfortable with acc to find and drive at my limits.FFB,car weight, immersion (that cockpit view!) physics more reprodicible, retain oversteer etc.Driving gt3 cars in general is just more fun in acc for me.And that SOUND of the Ferrari evo is one of the absolutely best i‘ve ever heard in a video game.Goosebumps every time :dopey:

And an AI that deserves it‘s name and is not trying to kill me.

One thing I love about acc, and I've no idea why gt don't have the option, is that u can have the cockpit view without the steering wheel. If your using a rig and wheel, it's super annoying, off putting and unrealistic to be able to see the actual wheel you're using, and another several feet away on screen. I have my TV positioned roughly where the windscreen would be.
I've never driven a car in real life and been able to see 2 steering wheels!!
It's not as if the devs don't know a lot of people have wheel set up now 🤷‍♂️🙄

FOV adjustment just seems so basic as well. I don’t get the omission.

I’m glad my GT DD Pro works with ACC because, honestly, it is completely wasted on GT7.

ACC has incredible FFB and physics. All the cars feel intuitive to drive and if you spin out, it is clear why.

GT7’s FFB is awful. Pair that with the weird physics and it’s actually much harder to race on the limit compared with ACC

My g923 died for my mistake. I changed It for a t300 and now i can feel how much bad Is gt's ffb in comparision to Ac/Acc ones.
Ac and Acc benefit with the new wheel..somehow even gt,but not as the others two games.
Anyways i still think gt7's physics,if we talk about road cars expeccially,is good. It's ffb that sucks

Ps5 mate. Update to 1.7 made in next gen (60fps) along with other improvements.

Yeah I've spent a fair bit of a time googling around about various settings and arrived at conclusion you really only need to turn off stability mgmt and leave abs/tcs factory default, so they behave like tge car irl... they all have their own abs, tcs settings. Some have 2 tcs settings - for when it kicks in and how strong it is once it does. Cars behave fine, close to real life out the box and what I gleaned is you don't need to worry about tuning until you're much further down tge line and trying to shave off last few tenths. Spending time learning how to push the cars, learning intricacies of each circuit is apparently all you need to worry about for a while. Ah, tyre pressure/temp is tge other one to think about... but info is out there, so nothing major

Other thing is fov, and display settings. There are calcs out there that tell you how to set them, but again, many others say it's personal preference at end of day. Loving the dashboard cam, with no arms, driver visible.

Graphics aren't quite on level as gt7, but more than good enough tbh.

You can set ai driver rating and aggressiveness from 0-100. I struggled on 90 but won comfortably on 80, so will next try 85 and ammend as I progress. Does feel like you're in a race, when on 90, the ai cars, constantly probing at you, really is another a level or so compared to gt7.

I changed tge gain on the wheel to 70, as was although incredible on 100 and certainly doable, really was an excursion physically and can feel your wrists getting a proper workout as you press on. I lift weights at reasonable level too, so God knows how untrained, weaker blokes get on with it! Guess it's realistic though as no doubt racing is hard work irl!

Yeah, I was leaning towards gt3/4 cars more and more on gt7, so no issues just having term in acc.

Some people mentioned understeer in acc, but I'm not seeing that tbh. Maybe if running a stability mgmt or the preset safe tune the cars are more prone to understeer?

OK so I've just had another shot on ACC, and tbh I find it awful. The graphics are really poor, grainy and lots of pop in in the distance, trying to see the vanishing point is terrible. Side scenery blurred and pixellated. As for physics, I'm in the gr3 Mercedes, and compared to GT it feels vague and like it's on marbles even at low speed, plus massive understeer, even at low speed.
I'm not poo pooing the game as i know some love it, I'm just saying for me,my initial impressions compared to GT.
Maybe as its more of a sim, setup is more critical. I'm just driving it "out of the box" as it were.
But I do love that steering wheel-less cockpit view!!! 👍👍😁
But it's not enough to make me want to play it, it feels like a ps2 game at best just from the graphics.

Do you have the PS5 version? The game looks pretty good to me obviously not on GT7 level but I wouldn’t call it ps2 quality.. if your on the PS4 yea the graphics are rough… I will agree with you about the pop in it’s pretty bad… If you only care about Racing GT3 and GT4 machines at the finest level I will go with ACC. For me GT7 will be top for me because the driving is great match with all the different tracks, and cars you can customize it’s a broader spectrum of Motorsports.

We had our season opener last night in our GT4 MichelinPilotSport series and beside us haveing some technical difficulties in the beginning and the poor state the online lobbies are in once we got racing it was great… Better than GTS in all factors, in which GTS online racing was great.

You should upload replays of the series! It sounds interesting.

I am expecting a physics tweak in the update but I doubt FFB will be any better. Just my speculation.

Yea I think I’m going to upload a small clip.. It was super intense and pretty stressful.. but very fun @llNovall does an amazing job orchestrating the events! I think PD nailed the track day events and the tracks feels alive.. there is more to add in my opinion but it’s the best in the series right now. The time transition make the driving a lot better and challenging… by second race with the shadows out I was having a hard time with my braking points.

Oh actually yea you're right I'm playing on ps5, but its the ps4 version of acc 🤦‍♂️🙄😆.
I thought it would run OK on ps5? My ps4 version of GT Sport still looks amazing on ps5. How come ACC doesn't?

Why on earth would you run the PS4 version when the ps5 version is a free update.

There’s a difference of day and night in the old and new versions.

What killed Paul was Rodas running up to 94mph on a public road on the original OEM tires when the ideal time is 4 years, not 8.

The CGT has been described as a perfectly good car as long as its respected. It only gets unruly if you begin to push it, which is where it starts to splits opinions. Some find it terrifying, but a common theme for Porsche owners who have tracked Porsche race cars, they love it.
