Gran Turismo 7 Physics

Do you want more detailed and realistic physics on the next GT

I see we're transitioning from the "git gud" skill issue to the "stop being poor" gear issue portion of this fiasco without addressing the fundamental problem. Just ways to get around it.

I love the physics/ffb and will be both sad and mad if they change anything because of whiners with poor gear/settings, or people who lack skill, don't want to practice and have egos too big for assists.

This is just straight gate keeping.

My biggest issue so far on my t300 is the tight turns it can feel like driving on ice at times once the steering input goes past 2/3 of a turn no matter the amount of throttle I use the rear just goes and almost never able to catch it. Maybe its the sense of speed messing me up 60mph feels like 30mph in this game lol

Hey look another person completely missing the points people are making, it's not a gear thing, it's not a settings thing, it's not a skill thing, it's not an ego thing, wouldn't need to practice or relearn how driving works if it was realistic.

You're telling me you didn't have an adjustment period when you first drove AC or iRacing?

GT DD Pro 8 Nm, 5/1 in-game, 100% FF - it's ****ing great. You can clearly feel the edge where you max out available grip and any slight disturbance like throttle/brake/bumps will send you flying. The wheel goes from bumpy to perfectly smooth - stay right before that edge while it's still bumpy and you won't get snap oversteer. If you turn your wheel too much IRL and max out available grip, and then get on the throttle, you'll exceed available grip and slide.

I only use ABS, no other assists.

However, with poor ffb settings or weak wheels, that edge is really hard to notice and feel. If I lower my wheel to 50% (4 Nm) I get caught sometimes in the more sketchy cars. With 30% it feels like lottery. With 100% at 8 Nm I never ever get caught - I can pick the sketchiest car and drive it on the limit consistently, catching small slides and so on. If I spin, I always know why, it doesn't feel random at all.

Also, in GT Sport we had loud tyre squeal and lots of built in understeer. Now both are gone.

And yes, this forum is toxic. Imagine if people were more humble, listened more, asked questions in hope of learning, and practiced instead of whining.
You sing your own praises on gear and skills and want us to be humble?

When I am braking in a straight line the rear just wants to snap a bit for no reason, and I don' think it should snap oversteer when braking in a straight line and that means there is something wrong with the physics.

Unfortunately, all there is to it is a better “feel”. It doesn’t change the ridiculous loss of grip after the limit, trust me, I know.
You boys better be right because Saturday I’m gonna move the whole house round and set my wheel up to a permanent fixture….until the wife says it needs to go away.

I don’t have a DD here but I can borrow one.

I want to see how G29 stacks up over the controller….

Have you ever gone from 100 to 15 in real life? I was doing 40mph when I hit the brakes and my rear swung right out. It can happen especially if your stability control is off.

I’m telling you it’s not that hard, and I’m just confused because after the tires go beyond their limit and you have no electronic aids to help you… your just magically suppose to save the car???

Ughhh sorry for double post

Well, historic returns are not indicative of future returns…

Yes I have done that in my 1987 Ford Laser and straight line stop, but we are talking about the game physics and not real life and you should not brake in a straight line and the rear wants to snap.

I have two 45 min races tomorrow in our Michelin GT3 cup challenge. I will report everyone feedback from the race… it’s been good debating with most of you and I have learned a lot even if we agree or disagree we just want the best physics for the game!

I've actually done that. Anyone wanna hear about it?

Like riding a milkcart downhill with your best friend? Its like a raggedy trolly with the rear wheels on coasters. Balancing on each side... He bailed at 60kmh. I did too by then, but not by choice... nobody died everybody got injured

Pro tip: if you go straight to the water aisle and load the bottom part of the cart with the water towards the front, then have your 14 year old daughter stand on the front of the trolley you get massive oversteer without upsetting the overall balance of the cart.

I cannot, for the life of me, comprehend why the factory live axle on my Super Bee is more consistent and stable than a two-way or full custom diff. It also feels like the settings on the diff make next to no difference on the car stepping out so violently.

car is 499 HP, 2500 lbs and on sports soft tyres. driver is actively trying to control the car with constant throttle adjustment.

The GT3 cars are a lot more driveable than the road cars, so I'm not sure it would add much to the discussion. Still would be interested to hear the feedback though.

I would say, not competitive in all circumstances the radical is a good bench mark to play with…

It does, but the tyre threshold is so low that it doesn’t really make much difference. It kinda works for high aero cars like GT4, GT3 and so on.

Not as massive as 370Z has in GT7 😂

No not GT3 it’s a a 911 991 GT3cup car, we are all nervous but excited!

Oh in that case, very interested. I decked out a '01 911 GT3 in game and it's awesome. But even with RH tyres it's still a bit of a handful.

Tbh, id be very nervous driving it in competitive online lol. Probably why Race B is currently dominated by 4WD cars!

This thread has degenerated into a group of people rationally trying to explain exactly where the physics problems in the game lie and a couple of posters immediately responding to say they’re absolute legends at the game and Motorsport in general and anyone who thinks there’s a physics problem is just an inexperienced, unskilled, clueless moron (unless the post is by Scaff in which case they profess respect for him but still ignore the content of the post). One of them hasn’t even yet played on a wheel, despite repeated posts pointing out that the game’s problems are amplified on a wheel.

It’s gotten incredibly tedious.

The grip threshold physics are problematic. Anyone who says otherwise is just wrong. Simple as that.

I’m out.

Wait... So...

You havent tried it with a wheel yet you think all is good? Have fun!

Guys seriously, your having trouble pushing a stock 370z?
It's quite easy to push the 370Z when it's on the limit, but when you try to push the car over the limit like @Scaff said it's almost impossible to catch the slide and power through the corner. 370Z is meant to be a very forgiving car for drifting and power sliding, even Tiff Nedell use them to teach people how to drift.

now I know you're more of a grip racer but have you tried hooning/drifting/power sliding a stock 370Z through a corner sucessfully?
