A $700 package requiring a signature, I'm surprised you thought it wouldn't.
I have a UPS account where I stipulated ages ago to always leave a package at my front doorstep and they've done as such for years. So yeah, I'm surprised too.

Some game phenomena/tactics only apply to the engine of the game.
ID software had (has) a knack for tying movement into speed.
It is not by intention that if you move diagonally in the game Doom1&2 that you are faster, but rather it is a byproduct of how the engine calculates distance. You were even faster when doing it against a wall while attaining the "correct" angle.

Then there is this thing called strafe-jumping, which increased the players speed in relation to turn radius and landing angle, which also made it into counter-strike back in its days of continous development.
Also weapon recoil to a degree was related to your frame rate (not refresh rate, as you always could artificially drop frame rate for certain effects).

As you propably know, GT7 (and none of its predecessors) does not use any game engine made by ID software.

Maybe you should stay on topic if you want to talk about a topic, for example when I said
"AI that is not limited by the CPU does not get any better with more power".
If you played Wing Commander 3 on a modern PC, you wouldnt have a chance of surviving one second of combat, because its AI is CPU limited, which worked just fine when it was released, but doesnt work on CPUs that are multiple dimensions faster.

The FFB is smoother, and that is using a small bit of the increased hrspwrs.
The AI is more precise and noticeably less clumsy, especially in the highest speed, very small reaction window situations. probs another hrspwrs or 2.
How does the pro improve the ai and ffb?

I guess if you have GT7 installed on removable SSD, you lose all your replays in showcase when you transfer it over to new console. Everything else seemed to work fine but all my old replays are gone (edit- except the ones I shared publicly). Maybe if I had put GT7 installation on console storage on old PS5 and transferred it that way to PS5 Pro it would have saved my old replays/ fastest lap ghosts, etc.. But I think they are gone forever at this point. 🤷‍♂️

Can you not put your removable ssd on the pro and then move the replays onto the internal SSD?

The FFB maybe to do with perception which is what I felt. better response/input lag, due to increased frame processing or even a lack of dropped frames resulting in a smoother feel in the steering or the perceived movement of the car while steering.
Not sure about the AI. Sophy specifically maybe affected perhaps.

The impression of getting better FFB might be due to a higher framerate and lower inputlag. It feels better, more tight and more connected in your mind.

It is VERY unlikely that a small boost in CPU clock and a more powerfull graphicscard would result in better AI. That is just not how it works. If that would be the case that would mean that PS5 and PS5 pro users would have a different gameplay experience.

That's what I did, but the in-game replays and screenshots, etc.., are all gone.

When I moved the media files over that are on the PS5's built in SSD in the data transfer, all my recorded video files, screenshots and whatnot are there on the pro in the media section, but no in-game race replay saves or screenshots that didn't get saved to media library are there. All the stuff in-game you find in the showcase like that is gone except stuff I shared publicly.

I thought in-game replays, etc., would come over with the data transfer but they didn't. I think I should have just moved GT7 install to PS5's SSD instead of leaving it on removable SSD. It would have taken a lot longer to transfer though.

Something to think about before people move game files over if it's located on removable SSD.

Assuming you still have you OG working I wonder if you can copy the SSD to the internal, factory reset the Pro and redo it?

Yeah I was thinking maybe I could stick the SSD back in the OG PS5 and see if all that content is still there in GT7. I'm not sure if it would be though. It's not that important in the grand scheme of things, I made vids of anything I wanted to keep anyways really. But if anyone wants to keep old replays and in-game photos, they should put GT7 on internal SSD before transfer or else it'll all be gone.

Having spent several hours in VR now on the PS5pro I have to say it is definitely better. The biggest thing is that it’s so much smoother and smearing appears to be eliminated. I’m not sure if that means reprojection is gone, but whatever is happening it looks better.

Pop-up, while still happening, definitely appears to be less. And I swear it seems a smidge sharper. Now don’t get me wrong. It’s still definitely blurry in places and there’s still foliated rendering going on. But I don’t see any jerkiness, the presentation is all smooth.

I can’t wait until they get PSSR and optimization working with GT7 in VR it’s gonna be so good.

I’ll just wait for and see about the update and find out for myself. Shouldn’t just base improvements on better lighting. I race at all times of day. Plus, when I watch the VR replay, I need to know if the action is more crisp.

Not quite sure what your idea is.

You cant transfer PS5 M2 to PS5Pro
You can only transfer PS5 integrated storage to PS5Pro (this creates a copy on the new console)

You can swap the M2 into the PS5Pro
You can transter from M2 to integrated storate (this deletes all transfered files from the M2 storage)

I am still seeing double image ghosting on objects going by especially if looking to the side or up.
The guy in the video above stopped his car, turned his head and said he can’t see the blurriness anymore. I mean, you won’t see blurriness if you turn your head. Not sure if he means in his peripheral vision. That’s just replicating the natural eyesight as per normal. However, TneNormsk and the guy in the video are saying the rendering is smoother. Video guy did note it’s not crisp.

I’ve been using the MP4/4 and Civic Touring car at various tracks(with varying maximum AI cars) and time of day to gauge the difference in lighting and detail of rendering. The open cockpit of the MP4/4 makes me feel the rendering of the cockpit is more crisp than the Civic. I really feel like pulling the trigger and just getting the PS5P because I think we all, individually, have a degree of what’s clearer to our own eyes.

Again, me watching the VR replays, if the update(s) can tone down that double image ghosting the headset twill be a must have.

Just did 2 hours of GT7 VR with the PS5PRO.
I'm happy to confirm that there is a big improvement even without a patch.
It is very noticeable and for me worth buying the Pro even without a patch. I needed some time to adjust actually since I played quite a few hours of GT7VR with the PS5 the last 12 months. It truly feels like a more realistic game now. It's that much better already.
This is absolutely no placebo effect. Here is what I am seeing / experiencing:

1: Definitely running at a higher resolution. It seems like it's running 100% native resolution now instead of the 90% on a regular PS5. In each car I tried new details pop out to me. I can read displays now clearly. I see sharper letters and materials. It feels more realistic now. Each car is a new HD experience. It's that much of a difference already even without a patch

2: More vivd colors. Less washed-out effect. Makes it more realistic

3: Definitely better level of detail in the environment / tracks. It seems like there are more objects with a higher detail present now

4: Sharper field of view. More detail in the distance. I actually now see mountains in the distance that were not there before. Higher resolution and detail for far away object. Still some pop-in but surely allot less. More stable and deep view.

5: Mirrors are very much improved. Higher res, fps and detail. Feels more realistic now.

6: Other cars seem to have higher detail and les pop-in

7: Shadowmaps and Qmaps seem to run smoother

8: Helmet animation / reflection is much higher detail and better FPS

9: The response of my Logitech GPRO feels different. A bit tighter / less latency. It actually feels easier to drive now. And a bit easier to catch drifts. For real

10: 2D screen between races feel a bit more stable/sharp

11: It feels more stable with big grids and lot's going on while having a higher level of detail. Therefore really feeling more realistic.

12: Reprojection is definitely still there. It is even more noticeable now since the whole experience is sharper / higher res / more realistic. If they can patch out reprojected with a Pro update. Ohw boy!

So even without a Pro update it's already a significant step up. Highly recommended!
Now let's see what they can come-up with when the actual optmalisation is done and we get the official Pro update.

Yes the reprojection ghosting stands out on the pro, it's crucial this is removed for the pro update version. Though we may have to wait until pssr is optimised.
I am pretty certain it will happen as developers must feel the same. Ghosting is spoiling the immersion on Pro.
Maybe we will start with native 90fps, then with optimisation with pssr get the full 120fps native.

To avoid the placebo its probably best (for me) to think of things I dont like rather than think are good/improved. So now the big thing is ghosting and non cockpit resolution, outside rendering needs to become as good as interior.
Need some professionals like Digital Foundry to test it too, though they tend not to do much VR stuff just report what Sony/PD announce.

Definitely want to believe, but until I see some side by side comparisons I’m not 100% convinced most of this isn’t a placebo effect at play.

Very excited though
2nd to this - the improvements are totally blausible, especially fps, but i'm yet to see anyone compare PSVR2 PS5 to Pro back to back or "hot swapping". Propably the only way to avoid placebo effect. Swapping from the fly also would be easy to do as one can connect/disconnect PSVR while playing.

If dash gauges sre even a bit more readable without leaning in, its major update for immersion.

I agree that the ghosting / reprojection seems to be more noticeable now or feels different with the PRO. This is also the reason for me needed getting used to after so many months adapting to the base PS5 GT7VR experience. Maybe it's because there are different FPS speeds running for different elements now. Maybe some are now higher than 60 and are again being reprojected. It feels slightly out of sync maybe. But another explanation can be it's more noticeable now since almost everything has more detail and is sharper/clearer now.

But don't get me wrong. I really love the overall improvements. It already looked great. Now it looks stunning. It gives me good hope for a very strong PRO update by PD which will make it even more amazing!

I'll be playing allot more later today. The session this morning did make me feel a little less VR motion affected. Could be me. Normally it kicks in after 45 min or so. Not heavy just a tad that goes away 2 min after. Now with the Pro not really noticed it actually.
Will report back later after a longer session.

On the ps5, when i do quick looks to check my right hand mirror, then back to the road i sometimes get what looks like lens breathing. Like, if your focusing a zoom lens and the frame adjust slightly as your doing it. Im noy sure whether is related to image stabilization, or what, but its long been a pet peeve.

Is it any better?

This is definitely improved. I always wanted to be able to read them to have a beter immersion. It has happend already without a patch. It just seems the resolution got a bump up to 100% native PSVR2 resolution. On PS5 it runs at 90% PSVR2 resolution.

And believe me I'm in the camp of: No patch, there couldn't be this kind of improvements...
Well they sure are there already! :)

Yes highly optimized already. More detail, deeper view and stabler image.

When I first ran GT7 on the Pro, I had in-game wheel control (Logitech 923). Then I went to settings to change sound levels and came back to the game, I only had button control.

At the moment, I can't play GT7.

Edit: gear changes and pedals work. Steering does not work.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Runs at a Locked 4K120 on PlayStation 5 Pro Even Without an Update

If you were a little disappointed that, having ordered your PlayStation 5 Pro console, Gran Turismo 7’s “enhanced” update won’t be available at launch, there is still some good news regarding how the game performs on the more powerful machine...
DF didnt tested it deeply. In high speed rings rain when hitting other cars can drop to middle 90s, during replays also can be below 100 but still big improvement vs base console.

I have both original PS5 and PS5 Pro and tested them back to back with the PSVR2. I didn't notice any differences between image quality.

Resolution looks the same, pop-in (such as AI car details that pop-in when you get closer to them) looks the same, mirrors look the same and reprojection is still in use.

The only difference I noticed is that the framerate is more stable. The framerate has always been exceptionally good all things considered, but it would still hitch every now and again when under stress. I haven't been able to replicate this with the Pro yet.

Also, when the camera pans around the car at the beginning of a rolling race start (in 2D mode just before it 'pops' you into the car in VR mode), the framerate is noticably better. I tested the Citroën DS and that panning shot looks 30fps on the OG PS5, but runs about 60fps on the Pro.

In the excitement, Did you forget to connect the steering wheel to the wall power ?

a BIG question - could PSSR be utilised in stock PS5? Is sony just playing the same game as Nvidia by making new software upscale exclusive to new hardware just to sell hardware? Planned obsolescence anyone?
