Yes. Now everybody can love pd again. Yeah. 🤩😘
you got to be joking, this is like the worst major update ever, no new useful traks, just an oddball snow track for your handful of rally cars, sophy AI that isn't used in any of your career races and a new paddock where you can take photos of your avatar with a new slow shutter speed!!?!?! Wow, what a wonderful addition/s to a racing game!!! I am not surprised by this "miss", just feel completely vindicated in my pre-reveal scepticism!

Is this a PS5 only update, or is it just the Sophy aspect that us PS4 scrubs won’t be getting?

Sorry if this has been answered or is in the article, I’m supposed to be working so only skim read lol

i doubt i'm in the minority.. disappointment will grow throughout the week as customers realise they've been gamed, again! BUT, I did say I will reserve judgment until we get the update... as you say, you never know - they may have given us multiple new ways to earn easier money so that the majority of the GT community isn't forced into grinding 3 tracks to make worthwhile credits - that would provide some redemption. Fingers crossed
I hope with the new events that we get races with decent payouts to replace the 3 races we have now.

I am so so hyped for this update!! So many things I’ve been waiting for! Weekly races, meeting spot, snow track

Follow me on PSN @sandyskids3 or here! I’ll be here more often, especially since I’m planning on making a folder for all my car liveries

Yes. I noticed it too. And i counted 10 championships in the game. So we will not be getting new championships.
So i got an interesting thought about the championships. what if they are holding back Endurance events and championships cause they would be perfect for Sophy AI. Like Sophy could read championship standings and figure out how to win the championship like Alan Prost using the points system to win over just outright wins.

The endurance events would allow the game to have B-spec mode and driver swap!

Sophy AI needs to learn more to be implemented fully. if you played the Race Together event in the March Update they were REALLY REALLY AGRESSIVE. and especially the fact at you were driving OP cars to beat them. if they are added to 9 tracks and is working with 95% of all the cars that's a massive upgrade.

Until we try it my guess it has learned to be more clean and race equally. then it will move on to other tracks and maybe be used in events. Im still thinking it will be used for endurance events and B-spec mode!
Of course, this just shows that PD can't do their job properly. Since when they can be trusted on implementing AI in racing games?
These statements crack me up… I remember when GT7 first dropped and we heard about Sophy. There where some people as yourself making huge claims how PD couldn’t implement Sophy in GT7, and how we wouldn’t even see Sophy if we were lucky until GT8… Then came that little Sophy demo and those folks got real quiet..

Now we are here today with a better implementation of Sophy from what I read. Please explain how do you know what PD can do with Sophy for they have proven many people wrong already who said otherwise?
Other than being unable to be implemented in GT7, the other option is that it's implemented only in small part of the game where it didn't matter much, such as those event challenges. It won't replace the game's default braindead AI, the core part of the game which is what matters, thus making Sophy insignificant (I mean, online races are also option for tougher races).

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Spec II Revealed: Upgraded GT Sophy AI, New Snow Track, New Cars, and More

It’s official: the coming update for Gran Turismo 7, v1.40, will be known as Spec II, and will bring with it a new track, new cars, new game features, and the permanent addition of a dedicated Gran Turismo Sophy mode when it becomes available on November 2...
so no new Event & Championships or B Spec!?
😞 No bueno my friends

It's a shame that the announcement has not met your personal hopes and expectations, I am sorry to see it. But you are over-reacting. The update isn't even here yet!

There are loads of new events!

No new championships though, or B-Spec

So, have they fixed the jittery open lobbies yet? It’s the reason I no longer play this game, not getting my hopes up.

so no new Event

This is an absolute grand slam of an update. It definitely deserves the "Spec II" moniker!

The cars are great. The new chili events are exciting!

The snow track is cool, even though I can't stand dirt racing, it's something different.

The master licenses are a good addition to extend the game's life. I see you'll get tickets for bronzing and gift cars for golding. How good the rewards are is TBD but they will still help the "economy."

The weekly rewards/challenges are a long, long overdue feature. This is something Forza did well with the weekly Forzathon events and challenges. It was too rigid - but still was objectively better than GT7's obsessive distribution of 10,000 credit rewards and randomly selected tuning parts.
I see the reward for doing all 5 weekly races is a 6-star ticket. So at a minimum, you're getting 500k for completing 5 different races. That should help the "economy" and the Sardegna/LeMans/Tokyo boredom.

Above all else - we now know that Sophy is, and will continue to be an active project. In a few months, it's grown from a one-off gimmick into a significant game feature. I would expect more tracks to be added with future updates. I suspect the cars excluded from Sophy are the "outlier" cars that are difficult to classify or balance (maybe the ambulance? or some of the SRT Tomahawks).

Seriously. What is there to complain about? Wait...I've read these forums enough.
That's a decent amount of content.

I will admit I chuckled a bit seeing there's a chili race... at Route X.
I wonder if it's intended to be a new grinding option without being so easy to rubberband/exploit.

On a similar note. We already have a Gr.3 chili race at Daytona. Is the new event at the oval track? That would be cool too.

How is that "reserving judgment" going?

If they add Saab I'll stop driving both my 9-3 Aero and 9-5 NG 2.0T as driving in GT7 is free of petrol costs! 🤣
Ha! I also have a 9-3 Aero (2006, manual) and as soon as I get delivery of the final set of parts (reinforced sleeves) I will assemble the engine (which I fully-rebuilt in semi-race spec myself over the past year, along with drivetrain and an endless list of other parts) and enjoy my real-life 550 whp (approx) Griffin once again :)

Maybe. But i really wish they could bring us Endurance races now. Then if Sophy maybe can become B-Spec, you will be able to replay those endurance races with Sophy.
IMO there is really no reason why they can't deliver us Endurance races. I really hope to discover some Endurance races tomorrow when i launch GT7!

it is only a reminder some of them have to be silenced for driving down the morale of polyphony digital, I cannot believe mr. chef Kazunori-san gave us such a brilliant update that he was working on day and night, a spec ii entree to go the likes that have not been seen since GT5, and some poor PD person is reading this with google translator and seeing those comments...I came here from GT facebook, let us not devolve!
