Anything less than a Yakuza LAD level 3 apology from Kaz will not be enough

Im 58 years old and have been loyal to GT over the years because it was the better game, I saw forza try to imitate to be competitive, and I didn't like the XBOX all that well either, so I stayed with the PS platform from 1, 2, missed out on 3, and finally a PS4, have liked few other games, very few, but always GT was there. As soon as I got my PS4 (Jan 2021) I also grabbed gtsport and dived in head first, got back the groove I had been missing for a few years, and really looking fwd to the new GT7 i heard so much about, almost drooling with anticipation.
Now I have GT7, bought the preorder 25th anniversary edition, and I liked what I saw at first, I had no progession issues like few others had, and on a PS4 slim I did have longer load times but was not intolerable and very little frame rate lag shows at end of the races when results show on screen. When patch 1.06 released and buggered the license tests for dirt tracks I was saddened but still faithful to GT, when the shine wore off a bit more realizing the lack of decent rewards for winning races and knowing the cost and availability of getting the cars I want were unlikely, the faith was still there but shaky.
Now that 1.07 has effectively shut down GT7 and from what I read here, taken Gtsport offline too, my faith in GT is at its edge, I will NOT abandon this game and I will hold out waiting for it to be fixed. I hope that someone/ anyone from PD reads this and knows that PD owes us devoted to the game, and owes us big, they need to make this right, give us the game fixed and fixed right, stop pushing us into MTX, and restore and/or improve our quality of life in this game to be able to win the credits (without serious grinding) to get the cars we want..
Is that too much to ask ?

I believe this post has them.
Thank you.

Well at least they fixed the World Touring Car 800 credits.

I won't be getting the game until May or so because i'm currently at college and don't have a PS4/PS5 with me. Hopefully by then the other issues will be ironed out.

@Samus, while I "like" your post, Gran Turismo has always altered its DNA over the course of its lifetime. Supposedly, every GT since 4 has signed its own death warrant.

So, for someone like me, what are the alternatives?
  • Forza - err... no, I've had my fill, thank you
  • Assetto Corsa - it's very cool, but Kunos has my ire for its own car and track add-ons which really don't offer much, haven't even bothered to play it versus Fallout 4, No Man's Sky and GT Sport
  • RaceRoom - that's another winner, which I've sunk a wad of cash into, but getting the PC set up for it when I can have a blast playing GT7 - sorry, Sport right now, yeah... why not just play a prettier game with similar-ish physics, AND a livery editor?
  • rFactor 2, Automodelista - ohh... why not just give R3E and AC some more cash instead?
  • iRenting - no, just no. And you people complain about microtransactions??
So, what's a racing fan to do? Sorry to only shower on the picnic lightly, but gotta be honest.
Well if you don't like the alternatives, that's on you. But also kinda on Sony/PD. If you feel you've got to move away from GT and there are no alternatives you like, then join people in pestering them to, er, make GT great again.

These are all choices PD/Sony are making. Nobody is forcing them. They're not an indie developer strapped for cash, doing what they can to stay afloat. Tell them what you think of what they've done to the series.

TBH, I don't think PD ever expected anyone to go for the mult-million dollar cars as soon as possible. Just seems like a ridiculously unrealistic goal to hit right out the gate.
While I mostly agree with you, if that was the case, PD should've structured it so they started from cheapest and went to most expensive car. I would've been perfectly happy to drive the 100k Jeep Willys for days. However, I can't get it...

He tweeted that the servers were fine. Nothing happened from their end.
Yes. That’s fine. And I hope the Fukushima nuclear reactor isn’t damaged again and so far it isn’t. Which is great because we’ve already had a lot of potential nuclear scares with the war in Ukraine.
But the Fukushima disaster of 2011 and today’s quake highlights the difference in power between man and the Earth. Yes, we made weapons that can destroy entire cities and islands, but if the Earth twitches in the wrong place, hundreds of millions could die. And we’d never be able to buy that damn Jaguar.

Same for me but the complaints are completely valid. Due to the paltry online payouts, even streamers who play every day wouldn't be able to afford all of the cars for at least 2 to 3 years.
I mean i'm not saying it's not an issue. Just that for me, it's not a dealbreaker towards buying the game or not.

If Gran Turismo really wanted to do microtransactions then here's a better way they should have gone about it instead of crippling in-game economy and progression with the added bonus of p*ssing off the entire fanbase:

1 - Create a separate sub-currency for microtransactions which is separate to Cr. and has no impact on car purchases, performance effecting mods or game progression.

2 - Keep currently available manufacturer paints + gloss, metallic and matte paints as they are. Take the other more specialised paints (chrome, satin, matte metallic, reflex, flou, flakes, etc) and treat those as other games treat shaders and you put those behind the sub-currency.

3 - Keep the current bodywork parts and widebody kits as they are, add to them till there's every "tier" covered for each car with those "basic" kits. After that, additional bodywork parts and widebody kits added to the game will have the identical effects on performance as the "basic" kits, but, because they're effectively "ornaments" = you put those behind the sub-currency.

4 - Do the same with non-performance affecting parts that are added in future to "wheels", "others" (light colours, etc) and "racing items".

5 - Leave livery, suit and helmet creations exactly how it currently is outside of changes to paints.

6 - Create ways for players to earn that sub-currency for free which aren't a monumentally time consuming grind (Bungie does this well with Bright Dust in the weekly and seasonal challenges in Destiny 2).

In a nutshell, anything that's a purely cosmetic modification is what should be used for microtransaction economy behind a separate sub-currency and not things that have a direct effect on gameplay, that way you don't p*ss the entire fanbase off. Those who care that much about cosmetics will bite on the sub-currency as long as the rest of the game keeps players coming back and online is sufficient (which it isn't currently).

It doesn't take an entire brain-trust paid for by a publicly traded company to figure this out. . .

Reminder that around the ~1 minute mark of the State of Play involving Gran Turismo 7 they claim:

"Gran Turismo 7 represents the pinnacle of the GT Journey. We think of it as our most complete GT to date."

And now I can't even log in to buy the Porsche I wanted because of infinite maintenance, money not being attainable because there aren't any events that give any (anymore!), and that the car is totally time-gated until it refreshes again at a later date like a Fortnite skin.

330k in blue bay in 10minutes with a n400 Ferrari f40
I started out grinding that race with the McLaren, but found it to be very boring, so boring I forgot it was quicker.
Try the race to the right of it with the E30 M3 set at N200 :) it's awesomely challenging :)

Or, and this idea may shock you, have an actual meaningful economy structured so that MTX aren't required in the first place.

For a game that's main focus was single player, there certainly is a lack of events to do. Especially considering how grindy it is, but that's to push micro transactions. And why are we not able to play campaign offline? Also, the counter steer assist is still on after it's been turned off. They really need a suggestion box or email address to notify them of bugs. The livery transfer system is bad enough. it will be extremely disappointing to lose anymore content that took hours of work. Also, I hope they changed the tag system to how it was in Sport, instead of using words in the description to find things. There's a lot of good things that were changed unnecessarily to make it feel new.

The whole problem is That we pay 80euro for a game where its not posible for a normal person With a life to get the cars we want without using mxt what is fine of the game was free but it was not.

I hated it how it was but accepted it but now they lowered the price after a race its just stupid now

Its a Shame because i loved the game so far. I Find it strange that the big YouTubes or media wont talk about it……

Who mentioned moving away? I can time share. ;)

I guess I could dig up the post I made on Twiffle a few hours ago.
You're not winning any friendship trophies with this stuff. Reduced prize credits isn't fan friendly. And one poor sap had his progress wiped clean in this update. Now I'm afraid to try it until a few hours after maintenance ends. "Come on, man!"

As others wrote here: remind yourself that there was a big earthquake in Japan when complaining about the servers being shut down, maybe it has something to do with that

They do, there's a post somewhere in this thread addressing this.
SuperGT at least acknowledged it's a grind to get enough credits in his video about the quickest way to earn credits I believe
