I still won't fully judge the update until I see the events that are added to them.

If it's 3 low-tier races around Grand Valley (alongside it's CE) and another crap Extra Menus where all you have to do is click and go, then it's almost more of the same.

Championships and true Endurance races are needed. It's a great time for the Grand Valley 300km to be introduced.

Great update but i can't see any technical reason for the Sophy not to be included to Ps4 , guess they really want the people to move to Ps5, hope it will be included to Ps4 soon they can't do us like this.
Machine learning AIs typically require a lot of horsepower even just for running them, I'd be surprised if it can be deployed to the PS4 version. IIRC, each Sophy instance used to require a dedicated console (can't remember whether it was PS4 or PS5) in early exhibition races with GTWS finalists, getting four of them running in the same race along with all other normal game activity is an outstanding achievement.

The only big downside is that there probably won't be higher rewards.
That's pretty much confirmed from the screenshots on the gran-turismo.com hype page. For running 3 laps against 4 iterations of 3 different levels of Sophy at Tsukuba, one gets a maximum of 6,000 Cr. (not counting the clean race bonus, which may or may not be available) on beginner, 12,000 Cr. on intermediate, and 25,000 Cr. on expert, while getting nothing for a "1vs1" run.

I think come Friday morning when I finally get home from work, I’m gonna have to pull the cover off my 56’ Carrera and go for a leisurely cruise up Highway 1. Weather is calling for rain all over California, but I’m sure the sun will be bright overhead in Grand Valley

Wow, I am so excited from reading all these posts, I think this will be GT&'s best update yet, especially bringing back an old legend track that's been the start of the get-go since 1997(GT1). Hopefully Sophy won't be too aggressive with us, xD.

I know there's still a few lobby glitches that need to be fixed, sometimes i'll join someone's room and all of a sudden i'll get an error message saying that I'm not connected. This is annoying.

Looks like I am saved from the Sophy 'experiece' since I can only play the PS4 edition of the game on my PS5 as with all my other PS5 games I don't have enough space on the standard hard disc to have GT7 as well.

Not that I was that excited about Sophy anyway but it would have been nice to have an explanation to say 'console' limitations etc for us PS4 players as I already have two friend on a PSN message group moaning about this (not in a bad way though) just lowers their level of interest in the update.

I can't be the only one who immediately thought of this when they saw the Sophy emoticons in the trailer:

This update looks incredible yes. But one thing is worrying.

Those "top prizes" doesn't look to exciting too be honest xD

Wow, 25,000 for the expert, so we're gonna go through all the trouble of racing with the AI(Sophy) in expert and only get a small reward? That's not worth doing to be honest. I know others might not agree with me but that's my opinion. I think it should be 10 times more, or maybe 20.

If you think it's "not worth" racing against four high quality opponents for three laps because you only get 25,000 virtual money, that's very much your call... but it's not a very intelligent one.

I think the payouts, considering they're one-offs, could well do with being higher. You're looking at Race 1 of four, paying out 43,000cr. I'm not aware of what Race 2-4 pay out, but even if it's the same that's 172,000cr for some of the best racing in the game (or possibly any game). Assuming you win, which is very much not a safe assumption.

Bearing in mind that it's effectively a beta test of the feature and PlayStation 4 users have no access to it, it's good that there is a reward but it's not so high that PS4 owners feel screwed over by missing out on megabucks by virtue of a $500 paywall.

Well at least the new improved AI won't be boring/stupid like the old. They made mistakes, were slow, easy to beat and they ran into the wall sometimes. Or even ran into other drivers.

Oh, well I'm still using the ps4, thanks for making it more clear to me, yeah it won't to people who don't own a ps5 yet as the payouts won't be huge, so we won't be affected by it. Soon I will get a ps5 and maybe test it and see how the new AI are in the future.

The AI is going to bring out a lot of driver flaws after 25years of divebombing the past A… er, moving roadblocks.
Well Famine just told me that this will only be accessible to ps5 users, so anyone who is using the ps4 will not be able to use it. So they will be missing out on the action.

It isn't worth it when it comes to credits*, simple math. Some people might say that it is worth it for a challenge and it is also true but I wouldn't call their opinion "not a very intelligent one". Why do you have to be so mean and call someone's opinion(call?) "not a very intelligent one"? PD could easily ramp up those prizes so it would be new and fun way for PS5 players to grind credits.

Also as a PS4 Pro user on sophy only for PS5 - $677 oh yeah totally I am going for it 🤣 another $677 for VR. Nah, I am fine.

Have fun PS5 users 😇so I guess this is what someone meant that PS4 won't be supported or just a wild guess before trailer.

And that's literally not the point of it. The point is to demonstrate a considerably better gameplay experience.

If you're valuing that by how many virtual bucks you earn in the process, then... yeah, your call but way to totally miss the point.

Yes, it could be more, but then PS4 owners miss out even more than they already are. Also we don't know what the rewards are for the other three events.

this is the greatest update ever!
We have the VR that’s a great add on for the game with the most beautiful car models in the industry.
There’s sophy which is gonna make the single player experience great again! And I hope it’s going to be applied to all events in future.
Grand valley is back this mean lot of nostalgia, but also races events circuit experience….
There’s 4 new cars also!
Basically this time PD just didn’t drop money in our pocket

If you care about the virtual currency that much, perhaps just set up a farming script and leave the game running while you are not at it. That way you'll stop worrying about rewards and start simply enjoying driving and racing.

Can anyone tell from the photos if the Carrera we're getting is the 2.7 liter or the 2.8 liter? Would have been nice to get the '74 Turbo RS, but if the one we're getting is the 2.8 liter that's the difference between a barely 200hp car, to almost a 300hp car at base. Meaning the difference between it being able to grind Sarthe and not when fully upgraded. Love the iconic livery, but I don't know enough about pre-930's to know whether that livery was only used on the 2.7, so any info from those more knowledgeable would be appreciated!

It's not the currency, per se, it's the currency combined with the extreme cost of EVERYTHING in the game. God help those poor souls that bought the game after the Tomahawk exploits/scripts were squashed; this game is a total non-starter if you didn't get those "easy" credits, unless all you do is Sport (in which case there's a better game... Sport itself, lol)
