Perfect, I hope they add some good body parts with the Citroën...

It’s got bumpers. So, not the lightweight version. Ill have to look up how much power that has.

Ah, so it'll be ~2350lb instead of the 2130lb. Guessing it's the 2.7L with 207hp then...
Hopefully we have weight reductions and bore/stroke-up, as well as all the other engine upgrades. If it can get under 2100lb at around 400hp it might be good for Sarthe. Cool-ass car regardless though and a very welcome addition to the game. Now we just need the 959! (and 992... and a GT2 of some flavor)

@MikeUD06 I don't buy that Sophie couldn't run on the PS4 Pro, and if it can't it's poorly optimized. Which that latter part might be true of the game in general given the extremely low-poly off-track assets. I play on PS4 Pro and PS5 and I don't really notice a difference in performance; they both have weird stutters occasionally where the game will freeze for 1/4sec. Might be an issue with the server, but it's kind of odd that it seems to happen at the same places on the same track if it's a server issue.

But they haven't finished the "offline" portion of the game a year after launch, so of course it's not optimized properly, lol.

Some thoughts about update...
Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera RS is a gem
Honda RA 272 is the crown of F1 racing in 60's
Citroen DS 21 Pallas is the unexpected!!!
Italdesign VGT doesn't matter to me
Grand Valley Highway is very intersting!!!
Insteed Italdesign VGT concepts i would prefer that...

Generally is very nice update!!!
Looking for some new races!!!

Scapes having a vertical camera option is massive.

After bouncing up and down about Sophy and Grand Valley that was the first thing I started thinking about, I’m curious if it’s expanding most/all scapes or if it’s just a functional addition to these new ones and all future scapes going forward?

Anything that makes scapes less 2D is huge, as I think it’s a significantly more productive and diverse alternative to photo travel locations like we had through GT4-6.

Also, I haven’t looked thoroughly at the new GV layout(s), but it seems extremely different from the OG track, almost to the point that it looks like it’s meant to be an alternative layout in the same vein as DT Gardens vs Seaside was? Maybe this is the first layout we’ll get for this location (or maybe I didn’t look hard enough yet), and a more “OG” like “Speedway” layout could come later?

Regardless, it looks like this track will have the most “public road” aesthetic of anything in the PS4/5 era yet, and could be an incredible addition for cruise lobbies. Some of the shots give me Sierra vibes:

How would you suppose they add PSVR2 support to a console that doesn't support it, or Sophy to a console that doesn't have the power to process it? The updates are otherwise identical.
I was obviously referring only on Sophy as gamechanger, though I didn't write it.
Maybe it's time for PS5.

I'll wait until the consensus is in. Besides, it's still just a limited mode. It's not a game wide change, so why bother?

And that's literally not the point of it. The point is to demonstrate a considerably better gameplay experience.

If you're valuing that by how many virtual bucks you earn in the process, then... yeah, your call but way to totally miss the point.

Yes, it could be more, but then PS4 owners miss out even more than they already are. Also we don't know what the rewards are for the other three events.
Thing is, what would it cost PD to increase the virtual bucks "top prize" in these limited time events? Wouldn't it make more sense to dangle a bigger carrot to get more feedback from a broader spectrum of the playerbase (such as players who do care about the tangible reward from a race)?

Also, are PD really adding two VGTs without interior models in the update where VR is one of the headlining features?

For those who are interested I live on the east coast of the US and usually the updates occur around 2:00 a.m. the morning of the update in this case for update 1.29 it will be at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
0600 UTC is 0100 ET

The server maintenance runs from 0600-0800 UTC (0100-0300 ET) and the update will become available during that time. That won't necessarily be at precisely 0600 UTC, but it pretty commonly is.

I never ask whether it would make more sense for PD to do anything

On the flip side, I wouldn't have thought a playerbase that has been complaining (mostly justifiably) about crap AI for 25 years would need any incentive of any kind to leap at the chance of racing against AI which the one person on this site who has actually driven against it says is "like having your best human rival, online, all the time, ready to race whenever you are, for however long you want". Get it in my veins.

And again, flopping up something like a million credits for this (like the last special events, the 25th Anniversary Nations/Manufacturers Cup) would just lead to a massive backlash from players who own the same game as everyone else but can't access it because of the $500/scarcity hardware paywall.

They also seem to be similar to Mission rewards - 6,000 for Magic Mountain, 14,000 for Rolling Stone, 30,000 for Gone With the Wind, compared to 6/12/25 for the levels here - suggesting that they're seen as Missions rather than as races, which is... fair enough, I guess.

I think they could do with being higher value rewards, but they need to be not so much higher to piss on PS4 players' faces while also reflecting the enhanced difficulty that seems more appropriate to the most difficult standard missions (38k for The Sun Also Rises). Maybe up to 3x what they are would be a decent middle ground.

what a crazy update. I think the VGTs lack cockpit though, it seems Italdesign hasn't even designed them?
What makes you think that ItallDesign didn’t designed them? Their design looks totally like in the tradition of their past concepts in my opinion

the lack of showing on the trailer + the characteristics of the car's windshield or lack of it.. it seems like it is painted where the windshield was supposed to be. Hope it actually has one though

There's not a single shot of the interior of the VGTs in either the promo video or the update highlights (where there's screenshots of the interior of every other car in the update).

All we see is a vague silhouette of the driver and the steering wheel from outside the car, much like other interiorless VGTs.

Sorry my bad, i misunderstood your comment, thought you meant that the whole car wouldn’t been designed by ItalDesign overall.

But it seems to have one according to the official description from GranTurismos homepage:
„The Italdesign EXENEO Vision Gran Turismo features a specially designed crystal sphere cockpit developed 'around the driver' and comes powered by a powerful V10 mid-engine and electric motor hybrid system.“

And it has a V10!
