Im looking more for VRR than 120hz. Hopefully we can toggle them separately.Judging by experience, 120hz + VRR is highly likely going to be dropping resolution to 1080p... also, on my LG CX, VRR might help in some occasions, the smoothness looks...different. Anyway, let's wait and see. Also, although no PSVR2 yet, if it improves things that put me off, I might reconsider. Fingers crossed.
Also.. I'd hate to do my licenses again (and/or Human comedy stuff) now that I golded them all...
Actually there is one...
...yet it's INACCESSIBLE.
Edit: i guess it will get a hit in resolution. Then a 120hz/40hz fidelity mode wouldnt make sense in a racing game.I doubt it will drop resolution to 1080p , since they writing 120hz VRR typically means that it will unlock framerate instead of locked 120fps
also if you put 120hz and get like 60fps it will be still smoother than 60hz
I'm also speculating whether the 120hz VRR is an improved performance mode, or an adaption of the PSVR2 motion interpolation. But there is a catch for 120hz container in general for all games. In a 120hz container HDR runs only in yuv 4:2:2 instead of 4:4:4 or rgb hdr due to the 32gb hdmi limitation from the ps5. I hope sony will soon role out a patch to unlock the 40gb hdmi bandwitch.
I hope it is a nativ 120hz performance mode and if, then the double picture effect due to interpolation is gone for VR.I'm also speculating whether the 120hz VRR is an improved performance mode, or an adaption of the PSVR2 motion interpolation.
I think we both hate it now for opposite reasons, you because it's too sensitive and me because it's not sensitive enough and the wheels have a big unfair advantage (the steering is ridiculously slow in the faster cars), we can't both be wrong so hopefully the update gives more range in the sensitivity adjustment so those who need the slow steering can survive and those who want the pace from GTSport get it back. Here we go again. I'm probably in the minority, but they screwed it up about 4-5 updates ago, when they increased sensitivity. It was already too sensitive, and I had/have mine backed down to -2. Still struggle with it at times, so if they up it again, it'll be undriveable for me.
Here's hoping they back it off some.
I hope we get the pace from GT4 or Driveclub, these two was the best controller implementation.and those who want the pace from GTSport get it back.
I've never tried adjusting the sensitivity of the controller, but it is much more noticable how jerky the controller makes the car look, esp. when taking long, fast corners... I can't get anywhere near my wheel laptimes on certain circuits (Suzuka and Le Sarthe being two key examples) with the controller, despite being a relative noob with a wheel. I guess with the controller they are struggling with the ever-increasing realism of the game and the fact that it is intrinsically harder to simulate that with inputs from the directional buttons...I think we both hate it now for opposite reasons, you because it's too sensitive and me because it's not sensitive enough and the wheels have a big unfair advantage (the steering is ridiculously slow in the faster cars), we can't both be wrong so hopefully the update gives more range in the sensitivity adjustment so those who need the slow steering can survive and those who want the pace from GTSport get it back.
I genuinely think it's just because they add so much 'fluff' to controller steering with the smoothing etc. I play RBR on controller with Next Generation Physics 7, an incredibly in-depth physics mod that even Niels Heusinkveld says is better than AMS1, and the only thing I need is a little bit of deadzone.I guess with the controller they are struggling with the ever-increasing realism of the game and the fact that it is intrinsically harder to simulate that with inputs from the directional buttons...
I would add Project CARS 3 to that too, it feels like most games now are designed primarily for wheels which is fine for the esports but not great for the majority playing on the standard hardware. The F1 games were the worst (hopefully it's fixed on the newer ones) where it was almost impossible to turn around the hairpin at Monaco.I hope we get the pace from GT4 or Driveclub, these two was the best controller implementation.
I'm thinking more about the analogue sticks where the car could be as smooth as the players thumb, I can understand it not being perfect but the raw pace is a lot slower than the old game which is the part that doesn't make sense to me. The directional buttons are always going to be janky no matter how much smoothing is going on.I've never tried adjusting the sensitivity of the controller, but it is much more noticable how jerky the controller makes the car look, esp. when taking long, fast corners... Yes to weather and 24hr variations to tracks, can help make a track feel new again. Recently found out I really like Deep Forest with the twilight setting over afternoon or something boring like that.Very good update it seems, in my opinion.
The only things I want in a future update are more offline content:
°more races in all tracks
°races with more than 15 20 laps
°add weather and 24hr variation to more tracks
°more competitive AI
°ability to make custom championships and ability to share them
°more parts to customize cars (wheels, bumbers, sideskirts, hoods etc)
°better payouts for the events.
I recommend to lower your expectations ^^ or don't expect anything from PD in general. I highly doubt that it will happen.I really hope that nurburgring 800 wtc race is high paying one like Lemans and tokyo
I want the launch visuals of the rain effects bad badly and the smoke tooWould have a preferred a brand new track but the new layout is welcome.
Changes in physics scares me because if they goof it up it sucks as you’ve gotten used to something.
I run no assists except for countersteering because this game has always had some weird grip thing happening with it regarding a car just suddenly kicking out with no warning. Maybe people call that snap oversteer? I call it unrealistic. So I don’t think I’ll be happy with it being reduced. Project cars 2 you can feel it coming and correct for it or save it at the cost of a reduced lap time having to gather it up but in GT7 it has always been I’m turning I’m turning boom I’m spinning I’m spinning. Lol. Like mid turn some giant just kicked the back end of your car out from behind you.
120hz refresh rate sounds nice but if the graphics get nerfed because of it then I’m pissed off. I swear this game doesn’t look as nice as it did from day one. They nerfed the tire smoke too. It makes no sense. Some of my replays, there’s tire smoke from one broadcast view, rewind, dude oh there isn’t and I can’t get it back. I sometimes hear the tires howling around a wide smooth sweeper and down the straight too… surely there’d be smoke? Nope.
I have a love/hate relationship with updates. They fix things and break things.
Legend Car Grand Prix being available is a double-edged sword imo - imagine the discourse (mainly microtransactions-related) surrounding it knowing that they had to own an expensive LCD car just to complete that championship (or the game, if it was a mandatory menu book championship). That Legend Car Prix should be unlocked. When we saw the first teaser trailers, I believe the Chapparal and A220 were driving on the Main straight at Monza. Not sure why a Championship like that, isn’t available right now.
They are aware of the car leaks/datamines for starters, by changing some under-the-hood data to plug further leaks, as a precedent. Are these Menu Books „extra“ Menu Books or real ones with actual races?
It is just not funny anymore. PD must be aware that these events leaked and they still don’t seem to care that much that people are missing a lot of content and events like these are what a lot of players (I assume) want. Are they holding back till Sophy is ready? And even if, that’s not a good reason to keep letting players starving for meaningful events, events that finally make use of all these pretty and mostly very expensive cars.
Well, the 2J is eligible for that championship, and that can be earned for free, so that solves that problem. What's stranger is that there appear to be two separate regulations - one says race cars from 1979 or before, the other restricts the championship to only a handful of specific cars. But if the former option were used, you'd be able to participate in some relatively cheap cars - the A220, 300 SEL, or even the Gordini in case you wanna get utterly curbstomped.Legend Car Grand Prix being available is a double-edged sword imo - imagine the discourse (mainly microtransactions-related) surrounding it knowing that they had to own an expensive LCD car just to complete that championship (or the game, if it was a mandatory menu book championship).
Fair point, but there'll be people who conveniently ignore the ability to get the 2J for free.Well, the 2J is eligible for that championship, and that can be earned for free, so that solves that problem. Again, based on what I've seen so far, VRR generally helps in hiccups and stutters, but overall is not smoother compared to non-VRR as in... feeling of smoothness; non-VRR feels far more fluid - at least on my LG CX.I doubt it will drop resolution to 1080p , since they writing 120hz VRR typically means that it will unlock framerate instead of locked 120fps

I can't imagine turning my head being annoying. Hope there's something in the update to make life easier for you dude 👍I'm hoping they update the menu screens in 2d mode/cinematic VR to eye tracking compatible, having to point head is annoying to read text. Think that might be Sonys task rather than PD though.
VRR reduce the input latency thats why it feels smoother/more fluid on my screen.Again, based on what I've seen so far, VRR generally helps in hiccups and stutters, but overall is not smoother compared to non-VRR as in... feeling of smoothness; non-VRR feels far more fluid - at least on my LG CX.
