I bought the W196 and it was equipped as standard with racing hard, so I decided to buy a set of sports hard tyres for a more realistic experience. I drove it on the Nurburgring for 3 laps and had a lot of fun despite some accidents. Now I haven't driven the car in any other game but I have driven the Maserati 250F in Assetto Corsa, which is from the same era and you could really feel the car sliding about on it's cross ply tyres. Unfortunately that's not the case here, although GT does filter a lot of stuff out on the controller. Can't complain too much though because it's a legendary car with a legendary name attached to it. As for the Mission X, it's very fast but unrefined so don't slack off or you'll find yourself facing the wrong way. It's way more characterful than other concept cars. Kinda reminds me of the old-fashioned supercars from the '90s.

I'm using a Logitech G29.

So far I've done 7:15 on the Nordschleife on an all-stock Turbo S on Sports Hard.

Then tuned to 650 pp running on Sport Medium tires, specifically for Porsche Cup events, it managed to break the 7-minute barrier, garnering a lap time of 6:59.800.

So happy with it. I will then build a 700 pp Sports Soft tire tune of it.
Update:

I tuned to over a thousand horsepower, and running on SPORT SOFT tires, I did a 6:32 lap at the Nordschleife.

However, I do have a setting that only runs at 905 horsepower (Low-RPM turbo) for Hypercar Parade events.

Building a grid of 10 W196 and 10 RA272.

I should be able to grind a few more W196 before it leaves.:)
What are you gonna do with all the Same Cars...?

I tested the Pro patch all different setting options. Right away I was a little disappointed as I get a strange blur/shimmering around any metallic surface like wheels and some paint reflections, unless I both select frame rate priority mode AND turn off PSSR. SO that's a bit of a fail to me as 3/4 of the mode combinations result in this which looks objectively worse to me even if it may be more "accurate".
Yup, having the same "issue", but it was like that even before the patch or the Pro console, RT/Quality mode always had that muddy/blurry look on edges and metallic/chrome parts.

I don’t know, but I remember first noticing it years ago.
Well then I guess it's your word against mine ;)

And it's not that I want to defend my position. I want to be wrong, I desperately hope there are more cars in the game where the driver presses the clutch pedal.

PS5 Pro users, please let us know about the PSVR2 improvements, specifically things like draw distance, LOD pop-up and ghosting due to the reprojection rate. This is the only single reason I'm considering buying PS5 Pro which is utterly pointless in every other game. At least for me.
I use VR since a week, and for me, the biggest problem was, with the eye tracking for me the focus speed was not that good, now this problem on the pro with the update is gone, I feel more focused the feeling, a bit sharper also.

I decided to turn off the new VR mode (VR Positional Reprojection), it makes the feeling of the space a bit more realistic, but on the down side (I tried wtith che escort cosworth) the black frame of the windsceen was bugged, near the wipers was glitched transparent (when, the wispers on moved the transparent spot with the wiperstock)and the black frame was more sharp without this new option. This effect not visible on the screenshots of the spectator view (above) what I made, only in the real VR.
This was made with Priorise Performance and Raytracing (PSSR don't remember), the car lamps was better, than before, but the car near me, don't had reflection of my car, not any, like a ghost :D (down, this what I could catch on moving :D)

Agree mate. I put sm tyres on for this week's daily before my daughter woke up... such a fun/engaging drive. Can properly throw it into turns and control/recover loss of traction.

About to boot up ps5 and give it a go on some other tracks, following school run.

One of best stock cars they've released in a while imo.

The new Ford Escort XR3 - as issued in the game i.e. no upgrades, seems a tad slow to me, a true representative of a car i know little about ?

If you’re going to use an archaic piece of technology you should probably expect it to be a bit slow.
You and I are both archaic by now so I'm sure you understand how priorities work.

Also the age of the PS4 Pro has nothing to do with the update and download oddities I witnessed, except that it's not had the lion's share of attention in development and testing. Why that should make any difference is, as I said, odd.

Given the long "install", I suspected internal changes to the file structure, which is surely fascinating.

Instead it seems your post is intended as an attempt to show off your perceived sense of superiority for presumably being in possession of a slightly-less-obsolete piece of consumer entertainment hardware.

In any case the update went smoothly second time of asking.

Use Comfort tyres for old cars, then you'll get a more authentic feel.

The RS Cosworth (😉) was never really lauded for it's outright pace, standard car had 225bhp and 225ft-lb torque, but a lot of turbo lag which did hinder the feeling of speed, 0-60mph typically north of 6 seconds. So if they have modelled the initial car with the larger turbo that tracks with the slower feel, the later, larger run of cars (beyond the initial 2500 for homologation to the WRC, around 4000 cars), had a smaller turbo and some other tweaks which got the 0-60mph time below 6 seconds, reduced the lag, sharpened throttle response etc.

I haven't looked into it in the game yet, so unsure if it is modelled off the initial 2500 car homologation run or the later, tweaked run.

Pretty good update in my own opinion. The cars are good, except for the mission X but that is purely a personal thing.Im not a fan of EV vehicles, though I do appreciate the technology and engineering behind them. The engine swaps are a mixed bag,the Volvo is bonkers but for me the Bugatti engined GTR is a bit of a let down,in a race,or on Tokyo at 600pp where I tend to test cars,it doesnt seem to improve on the GTR very much.
Im happy for the guys with PS5 pro and there update, for me though i dont feel its worth the high price for what looks like a small upgrade,I know there is more storage but I might add I already have 2tb of storage on my PS5.However I dont knock anybody for how they spend there money,im glad they are pleased with it.Maybe if I didnt have a Ps5 then I would almost certainly have bought it.
Just my opinions on it all. 👍

Reflection of the cars is already not available in VR. RT in this mode would be way too demanding.

I didn't even try the Porsche mission x yet 🤣.
Been seeing a lot of people saying it sucks.
As for the rest of the cars, it's a 👍.
Loved the Porsche 911 turbo s. What a beast.

Cheers i was a bit concerned removing the rear wing & livery had maybe slowed it down

So in Canada, you can go to a shop with your old PS5 and pay the difference ? That's cool !
Oh, I am sorry to see that you passed sarcasm but failed elementary school math. The PS5 Pro has extra features. Those extra features come at an extra price. That extra price is the difference.

"So in Canada" Some people paid over $1000 for the original PS5 when it was released because of limited supply, remember those days?

Anyway, back on topic for those who waited for the PS5 Pro and are happy they did, Here's a video showing the issue I have with the new update on PS5 Pro (I don't know if this happens on PS5. I have confirmed that it DOES NOT occur on the PS4. (Go to full screen and look at the wheels and side skirt)

It looks like there's an issue with caustics on the wheels. Too much ray tracing creates the same effect as sparkling water. I wonder why it was released this way. I'm starting to think that the PD team is being starved on the necessary resources. Hopefully this gets improved in future updates because, now, the wheels look better in the PS4 version.

It's the same on regular PS5 ray tracing mode. It's just how it looks on GT, it's ray tracing noise.

I actually like the update. Love that the Escort is added, anyone noticed the sound of the Turbo S 911 when you select the car in the garage? So good!
Guess the Jimny is the odd car here, but i really like the new event on Grand Valley. The atmosphere is beautiful.

The Special Event on the weeklies on Le Mans is just fantastic. It really gives me old GT vibes. And then there is where i sorta want to 'complain'.

With each update we receive i keep noticing more and more of just how much they took away from us. Stuff we had in old GT games. I guess it's kinda personal maybe, but now with the special event on Le Mans it really throws me back how fun it was to just race in the older games. I mean GT7 is fantastic physics wise, car wise and graphic wise. But still.... I just miss the old days when you just could keep racing in career, manufacture races, earn new cars with completed races, races getting progressively harder but also getting better cars. I just don't know, GT7 is a fantastic game, but it can just be so much more!

One of the biggest things for me is that we still don't have proper endurance races. When are we going to get such races?? My thoughts are never. I mean in about 4 months the game becomes 3 years old. On the other hand, it's great too still receive updates for an almost 3 year old game, that 's true. But man i miss the old days.

I wish the weekly special events would come to the main game. Those DTM races are so much fun. Gives us new tournament races.
It all feels so bland sometimes. Pick a race, race it. Choose another car. Do it again. Meh. Give us progression, things to grind for (20 million cars maybe?).

Also sometimes i feel so restricted in what races you can do. We need more no PP races in all classes. I'm just now getting in to the engine swap thingy in the game and it gives a whole new purpose for me to play the game, which is fantastic. But it also kinda feels restricted to do this and have fun, because there are only so many races you can do with an engine swapped car.

Now, long post, all i want to say really is that is miss the old GT's to grind, wish we get endurance races rather sooner than later, and that we keep receiving content. A spec 3.0 with lots of races would be so freaking cool. We can only hope.
