You guys who have magical abilities can't seem to understand how hard it is, and for some, impossible to race at your level. When GT Academy opened up and hundreds of thousands of us were competing with each other for the coveted few to be admitted into a real life racing academy, I was in the top five percent. But the range between the five percenters and the one percenters was an ever steeper logarithmic curve till it peaked, and the lap times of these top 100 racers were within hundredths of a second. And I was outclassed by several seconds every time, at least, along with about nine or ten thousand others.
In order to beat the Tokyo 600 race, you need to consistently make a 2:02 lap. The best I could manage in the RE Amemiya RX-7, the only car I could make fairly competitive and not get a penalty every lap, was a 2:09. After a dozen do overs because of early race killing penalties, I ate one because I wanted to finish ONE freaking race, and made 4th place. The superskilled Tomahawk racers are pulling around 1:00 laps and managing a 59 second lap at times. My best is a 1:12.9xx, and a typical fast lap is 1:16. That's my limit.
llNovall is running a racing series in the League Forum, and I thought I'd give it a shot. But I was five seconds a lap slower than the others in every car but the Murcielago, which was illegal as a 4WD car, and even then I was still outpaced. They encouraged me to try another car, and then to keep tweaking it, but it was getting outside the build requirements, at which point I thought it was useless to keep cheating the specs just to race with better drivers.
People all have different capabilities and talents. As far as I can tell, I'm still within the top 10% of GT7 players, maybe 7 or 8%. But there is a huge talent difference between a 7% player and a 1% player, and very few can make up that 6% difference with some practice. We all have our limits, that's just the way it is.
As for the Vision cars, I like them too. My fave is the Citroen GT3. If the Tomahawk gets crushed in the update, I'm going to miss it, but I won't be missing Tokyo. They will have to fix the PP system to where I can build a competitive car, or I'll never touch it again.
