ok...they...learn nothing apparently after Spec 2
Sony and PD know exactly what they're doing.

Spec II is likely one of the final major updates to bring in new players for the Christmas period.

We'll get a smattering a DLC updates and promotions during the year. Then something PS5 Pro related and a GT8 announcement.

We're on the home run for GT7 as it's pretty clear PD are saving a substantial amount of content for GT8. Who can blame them, there's little to be gained by giving free content to existing players, without a mechanism to monetise it. For GT8 perhaps it will be sold from the outset as a GAAS with a mix of free and paid content.

Why are people so sure a PS5 Pro is coming? Everywhere I look it’s purely rumour based on the fact there was a PS4 Pro (which as far as I’m aware was a reaction to Xbox producing a more powerful console).

If anyone has a source that has some validity can you send it my way?

The thing I can't understand is why don't PD release paid DLC as well as a mixture of free content just like T10 and PG do for Motorsport and Horizon? I can't see anything stopping them. Unless it's some kind of principle thing.

Tim Henderson and Jeff Grubb say it’s coming this year. Look them up. They are extremely reliable sources. Especially Tom.

Because this is worse than having everything free and you will have playerbase fragmented for those who own dlc and those who don’t.

Yeah this is my theory/ fear as well.

It’s in line with what Sony is going for and unfortunately GT lends itself extremely well to the GAAS concept.

„you’ll need to be the lucky owner of one example of the Bulgari Aluminum Gran Turismo Limited Model chronograph watch and register viathe included QR code.“
This is the worst. A racing simulation/arcade game turned into a product commercials marketing instrument.
I fully understand and support the idea of VGTs as crazy ideas, but they’re implemented half-assed because there’s no meaningful integration in the game.
And I totally get why PD wants to cooperate with car makers to license certain models and promote them.
But in a car racing game, it should be car related. Or is that only my crazy imagination?

These updates are so predictable in their mediocrity that I would be very surprised if it had not been generated with AI tooling ... i.e there would be more human effort put into promoting the updates on the 'socials' than actually conceptualising and creating the new content ...

The last race for the current Manufacturer's cup has been listed as TBD. I thought FOR SURE that meant we were getting a new track. But no.

Wow, just wow. Absolute piss again.
that happened last season too and the last race ended up being 1) on daytona oval 2) with custom BOPs so no one could even use liveries

this last round will be a throwaway/yolo round for me anyway since we got two formula-adjacent races for rounds 1 and 3 and those are right up my alley

Imagine the outrage if a paid DLC GT3 car was OP and won the Manufacturers Cup? That's a lot of the reason why.

Speaking of BoP, this update will go up a lot in my estimation if the Mazda3 gets nerfed in about 12 hours.

Do I get a free Mazda with the update tomorrow?

There are so many wild things about cars and racing to add, but they somehow decided an imagination car from a watch brand has higher priority.
Heck, even a simple as a different track layout, or one single old GT3 racer from old game rosters would have been more valuable.
I mean, we aren't entitled to every month update, but I feel they kinda wasted their time and energy on random things nobody cares about.

The talk of wives made me realize this is kind of like the disinterested quickie handjob of updates… it ain’t much but on a positive note at least it’s going through the motions to get the job done and keep this marriage to GT7 going and slightly fresh. They all can’t be date night while the kids are away
Ok, if it’s really true we won’t get all 3 cars tomorrow, I think I have to revise my metaphor from a quick HJ to an unexpected unpleasant finger up the keister.

Except the ambulance you could get at the time of the update, for free no less.
Said ambulance is, without upgrades, completely worthless. Even on normal difficulty, I have been unable to win even the Sunday Cup events (no, not the country/continent-specific or the Classic, the very first races in the game) with it.
TT tomorrow gonna be the Jimmy at Nord.
Nah, that's the GTWS final. Tomorrow's TT will be the watch car at Autopolis. I could have it reversed, so we can really see who is moneyed with a custom livery on Saturday.

As for the update itself, it has the look of being the worst of the content updates, with only 1.07 behind it. The positives are a new Menu Book (at least based on the fact every new World Events category has had a new Menu Book associated with it), the real vehicle associated with that new World Event should be dirt-cheap, and the VGT that can also be bought starting tomorrow will be free for those of us who watched the associated GTWS stream via the in-game app last month.

The negatives:
  • Two cars this month and one next month
  • Assuming there is a new Menu Book, the likely prizes, including the most-common one from the likely 4-star Wheel of Despair, won't cover the cost of running it...and that's if we only have to buy the dirt and snow tires and somehow manage to get the clean-race bonuses on the dirt and snow
  • Both Extra Menus are time-gated behind the Hagerty's 3-month-long cycle with none of the cars available as of Wednesday (though the Dodge Charger required to finish off the Dodge Extra Menu should be available presently)
  • The Nissan Extra Menu is the first to be fully time-gated behind Hagerty's 3-month-long cycle, with the first two of those not due to be available for at least a week (the 1999 GT-R GT500 and Skyline Super Silhouette), and the last (R92CP) leaving Hagerty's this past Sunday and thus not due until mid-April
  • Assuming they're on-time with the Hagerty's price adjustments (they missed the previous 2 announced dates), that

The definiton of "overcompensating". Yet some other beloved cars, have a lot less customization options in the game.

If they were to make one of the VGTs with such limited availability, they should have added atleast one more car in the update. But then again, even if that wasn't the case, a 3 car update with 3 "controversial" choices, should always have a bit more.
I’d be happy if they made the 1929 Mercedes off-roadcapable 😭

Update is so bad I couldn’t even be bothered to watch the trailer… I’ll boot GT7 up tomorrow to see what else may be included but there’s two games coming out this Friday that I’ll be spending far more time with.

But if we widebody the Sierra, which is already the widebody version of the Jimny, would it be widebody-ception?

You hit the nail on the head...Swift Sport engine would be the perfect swap into this, but that makes WAY too much sense for PD. IRL, I've had multiple friends that swapped Swift GTI 1.3 DOHC engines into their Samurais and they were stupid in a good way.

Anyways, all I really wanna say is "More Zuks plz"

As a former owner and massive fan of the ZC32S, having the model either side of it is a kick in the pants 😂

GT7 is in a really bad state right now.

The game has gone very stale for me. The Spec II update did a little bit of a revival for me in that I enjoy doing the weekly challenges and Im enjoying just slowly working my through the licence tests but the game offers me no other enjoyment apart from Manufacturers GTWS.
The online mode is dull. Daily races are not appealing at all. Same tracks, no imagination with strategies, the bop needs an overall, the race format needs a refresh too (add qualifying to daily C) and finally use the good dam weather and time zones. Sick of seeing S02 and afternoon used every race. Just don't understand the lack of weather. RBR for me is a track in Gr3 cars and we had no weather there and we used that track now maybe 6/7 times.

As for tomorrows update. It's quite telling now the community has turned and it feels like a lot of top drivers (GTWS drivers too) are leaving the game or just don't really play it much. I don't think I've seen as much backlash on twitter then I have in the last week from players.
I myself don't play GT7 at all. I'll do the weekly challenges and thats it. If GTWS Manufacturers is on then I will take part, but I don't switch the game on apart from that now.

Past event details have always been fully withheld in these scenarios, whether it's been for a soon to be released car, track, or both. Expecting it to be another track the update immediately following Spec II is kinda on you, really.
