I agree with all of this. The thing Fa I’m curious about is how much coding goes into the said updated physics, customization, dynamic Tod, weather and track conditions.
If the answer is “yes… that all takes a lot of work”. Then I’m willing accept the premise tgat this is almost entirely a new game and cut PD some slack, taking into account that they probably had to spend the last 9 months changing gears to get the game running smoothly on PS4.
Even though it is obvious they’re drip feeding content to us. But as far as the bugs and all the associated lobby issues ect. That’s forgivable if this is in fact a “new game”
I imagine the physics take the most time, owing to its complexity. Customisation is probably not too difficult given their experience, but time consuming for how many cars they need to model and fit parts too.
It drives differently to Sport, there’s more going on with the physics and it’s a step closer to realism (not that GTS was arcadey, but 7 definitely has more realistic physics barring the issue over the limit of grip (which isn’t as bad now after the update a little while back).
Given they had five years, it’s not everything it could’ve been. The core is good, but it just needs more content - and PD can definitely do that if they want to. They release a few races every update, but really they could spend a month making 100 races, I don’t think it’s particularly difficult at all given they have code set up already for events.
And man, the AI still sucks. They can make fast AI, some of GT6’s seasonal events had the leader drive like a demon once you overtook them. They have difficulty options for a reason - I wish they’d make the hardest AI actually difficult.
Professional AI can sometimes be good from what I hear, but they drop off 6 laps in a 10 lap race. But chilli AI doesn’t seem to be all that quick - even triple chillies rely on a 20-40 second gap to make it close.
There are a few exceptions, like the World Touring Championship 600 at Tokyo or the Suzuka Gr.1 race for the lead car(s). They’re actually pretty quick there, I’m still struggling to win with a stock TS050. I can make up time in the corners but get wiped on the straights.
