Gran Turismo at 65%!!!

Bah, let the Xbox fanboys come! I'll show them that here's atleast one angry finnish dwarf with a sharp axe!

It better be sharp, I think the Big Offensive will start soon.

I think:

1. They programmed GT4, it was released in Japan in 2004, in EU in March 2005. So this can't be 5 years, that must be 4, because the Japanese GT4 isn't the same as the European GT4. You agree with me?
2. Tourist Trophy came out in Europe in late May 2006, so there can't be much programming left for GT5. Maybe only a trailer.
3. The GT5 E3 trailer was in 2006, so maybe a half year of programming?
4. When GTHD was there, this is only 1%
5. Then they began programming GT5P, which are 5-10% of the game. It came out 2007.
6. They developed updates for Prologue and the CItroën GT till 2008 (15-25% now)
7. GTPSP needs to come out soon, so they had to produce two things at one time. In this year this are around 50 to 55%.
8. GTPSP has a release date since the E3. Now they could only work on GT5. In these two months this are around 55-65%.

In the end maybe they began to program GT5 in 2006, 3 years ago, but had a netto time of 12-18 months of development. I wouldn't be surprised if they can realease it in March.

Common sense. Mercedes and Ferrari don't make such a big deal about their cars being in GT5 if it isn't coming out soon. C'mon people, the sky is NOT falling...

For some reason I feel this way ... all the hype ... then dead air to follow until March. The delay would not at all surprise me, but I'm not sure we've been given all of the info either.

I don't see why not... marketing is marketing... you get attention now, if something doesn't pan out later, you still got the attention now. No one turns down marketing exposure like this...

I think the point is exactly that the "marketing exposure" has been next to nothing ... outside of vids and press releases from manufacturers ... if it were my corporation I'd want the bang of a full on assault worldwide release info, not just japan, and angry fans on the internet

Sony isnt worried about selling GT, they know it'll sell. They want to push GTPSP to sell PSPs. GTPSP is evil'

b

Agreed:tup:👍 Sony is the one that screwed up GT5s, release date by wanting to sell PSP GO's and GTM!!👎

So on a GT forum, fewer people are viewing the whole PSP forum than are viewing a Forza Thread?

And ANYBODY is viewing a Forza thread in the middle of TGS with Sony featuring GT5?

Devedander, SuperCobraJet, let's face it, the decisions on when these games launch are decided by big wigs who only care about how many benjamins they can bring in.

A few months ago there was probably a few suits in some Sony high-rise somewhere looking over graphs of data that projected PS3 slim sales over the next 12 months. These graphs included dates of GOW III in March, MAG in January, and Uncharted 2 in October.

They then made the business decision that it was in the interest of SCE that GT5 be released no earlier then April 2010.

The idea that there is not one single official screenshot or video from PD confirms the above beyond a doubt.

Earth= pure genious

Just copying what you posted during Gamescon I think it was.

If this game is 65% done.. then there is NO WAY we'll get a early 2010 release, or even a 2010 release at all... i thought these last few months were for polishing (as many recent interviews have stated) but still 35% to go is just waaay too much for them to do in 6 months.

And once we are in 2010.. there is no pressure, it could easily slip once again into late 2010 or early 2011.

Yes, a bit pessimistic.. but if it's at 65% we will not see it early next year.

The numbers speak from themselves. Who cares about GTPSP ? There are more people on GTP on the forza 3 forum than in the GTPSP forum. WTF ??? The whole concept of GTPSP is stupid, no career mode or tuning whatsoever, it is just a gimmick of a real GT. Gran Turismo is not a pick up and play game. When you play GT you can play for hours and hours (Tuning cars, running around the ring, endurance races...). IMO sony pushed PD do to a game on the PSP because they saw it as a way to sell more PSP's.

🤬 GTPSP, if it wouldn't be from it I would be playing GT5 instead of Shift.

I have no doubt whatsoever, you are exactly right.

In fact I believe this was done just prior or right at the start of E3.

However the kicker decision was priority of GT on PSP. This is what automatically resigned GT5 to "Spring 2010" status, which obviously suited the beancounters and marketing projections. That however does not automatically equate it to being the best or right decision.

Certainly their priorities are not mine, but I still believe it was a bad decision. I do freely admit that opinion is influenced by the GT5 faithful having to pay the substantial delay price for this strategy.
Time may or may not tell since 6 mos. from now, there is no way to go back and try it the other way.

Lastly, I don't have to like it either. 👎

I could've bought GTPSP if it was released AFTER GT5 (maybe as it was meant to be: a pick up and play racer with the GT label slapped in the cover. But not now.

Just an FYI GT5 is listed at 65% and Ratchet and Clank A Crank in Time is rated at 80% and that is coming out in October. By that math GT5 would be a little less than 2 months off. So yeah, ignore this percentage crap.

Okay, I understand that GT could be further along development than the 65% the brochure suggested (maybe 75%). But Sony still said it was releasing on March '10, so I don't think it's releasing any sooner still. Again, we haven't seen the hundreds of cars or the damage modeling in them, or the weather effects, so I'm confused as to where they're at.

It's at 65% now since they released the date, they can delay the game even further.
You know:
"Yes we're finished, but we're just polishing the game up now, ready to be released at any moment"

"We can release GT5 anytime we want" > 65%

65%!

I mean, that is not all that much more than half.
I got more than that on my math(s) test. And I suck at math(s)
I don't think it is correct. Whatever 'it' is.

Actually, I hope it's correct. It would mean GT5 is even a bigger game than we thought. Better than saying 95% and then seeing a March 2010 release.

To reflect on his comments, I assume and hope that the reason was that they had a change of plan and decided to add-on to what they had planned if they were to really release it shortly after GTPSP or this year. I also think this because the "170" dilemma is no longer in the feature list. However, the head-tracking there isn't either. Perhaps the other reason is because the head-tracking technology won't be ready till March?

Whatever that 65% is, it's not surprising to me. I mean if you look at the other games releasing around the same time, they too are around 65%.

Why are people even bothering replying to this figure? It was from some gaming magazine, that guessed it. Completely pointless thread.

Very good question. I shall also remind people of what Windows means when it says "65% Complete":

I think you're guessing on the fact that the gaming magazine is guessing as much as they would guess the percentage figures if they are really guessing. Unless that is you're 100% sure the gaming magaizine is guessing all those pecentages.

This is not too confusing is it. I don't think so. Sorry if it is.

They've stated it was an "educated guess". Anyone can make an educated guess. I guess that two buses will come along at once, and neither of them will have people on who own GT5.

That may be true, but only a few can make educated guesses on a game's development. I mean how can anyone like us make an educated guess about GT5's development when we know little about it? Thing is in Japanese and for all we know the educated guesses might come from the developers themselves, or it might not. My point is just that we can't be too certain about any of this.

The developers themselves would have to guess how far completed it is? Think not.

I could guess (and have done several times in the forum) at how far GT5 is developed based on information like the, at the time, expected release of December.
