Gran Turismo at 65%!!!

The only thing I didn't like about the video was that the cars don't seem to interact with the road surface, they just seem so float on it.

It's common problem with GT, although in GT it's not so obvious. It's pertinent to insufficiently modelled and flat road structure, which is present in both games but not in real life, where every meter of pavement contains few little bumps and scratches.

I really couldnt care less if we dont see GT5 till the end of next year, as long as they do it right.

Agree 👍

Regarding the 65% I think something is is wrong with that number:

- PD have 6 months to complete a job (35%) that take several years to reach 65%... :scared:

- Have they just worked on the +850 cars and track during this years?

I really think PD needs all the time it can get, after spending so much time making the cars they need another half a year too add all the other features which other racing games have which is a solid online component and decient damage, like Forza, Shift etc..

Robin.

I really envy your patience after six years of nothing.:grumpy:

100 - 65 = 35

And you can't look at it like that, those numbers are just rough guesses.

GTHD and GT5P were nothing?

Full, full, full of them. I know every inch of Suzuka, Fuji, London, Eiger, HSR and Daytona to a degree that I will have a stomache when I have to play them in GT5. No track in GT4/5p have even quarter of soul that Nürburgring Nordschleife had. And that's it.

You know what? They should have put the ring in prologue - just the ring. Then at least while we waited 3 years for the full game I could have been forced to learn it properly ;)

I don´t understand this

5 years = 65%
6 months = (35%) 100%

HOW?

You can't say that because in that 5 years, they weren't exactly working on GT5 alone. There were many distraction between that like Tourist Trophy, GTHD, GT5P, and GTPSP.

Now they can concentrate on GT5 100% so of course they can finish 35% in 6 months. The beginning on things will always take longer (due to the learning process, etc.). Development is not based on linear times.

Also if you look at God of War III, it's at 60% and have a March 2010 release range as well, so yes, this is nothing out of this realm.

That's not correct either:

Tourist Trophy + GTHD + GT5P + GTPSP (I really think this was Sony's decision) = 65% (5 years)

Okay but weren't GTHD and GT5P part of the GT5 process. I really can't consider that as being separate titles; more like rough drafts.

True, but they were suppose to be releases of each. GTHD was suppose to release as a game itself with downloadable content. Then they scraped that plan and moved on to GT5 Prologue. GTHD and GT5P are different projects than GT5. Also Kaz himself have said at one point that GT5's development haven't even yet started when he was being interviewed for GT5P.

To say they've only been working on GT5 (as one project), can't be stated fairly. It's not like how Turn 10 focused on FM3 itself. It's different.

I say they use a hyperbolic time chamber.

Every week PD's staff spends in the hyperbolic time chamber is equivalent to 1 day in our world.

Don't you remember? they hinted at it in GT4.. The DeLorean.. ;)

The question I have is, how stupid can PD get?

How can you claim the game can be released at any time while setting up posters claiming a Q4 2009 release date, but then you send out press statements saying it's only 65% complete after 6 years of development and won't be available until Q2 2010 in Japan? Then Kaz has the balls and nerve to close out his speech with the GT PSP intro video.

$250 for PSP GO and a dumbed down GT4 aka GT PSP

or

$299 for PS3 and GT5?

I bet Forza fanboys are having a ball right now, and rightly so. They're going to be in our ear for the next 8 months or whenever PD decides to release it. I'd go as far as to say Forza 4 will probably be 65% complete by the time GT5 is out in Europe.

I think they made the move because the PSP Go is a newer system (overpriced too in many's eyes) so it needs more help in sale boost than the ps3.

And yes, Forza fanboys are probably partying as of the moment. Youtube, forums, comments, everywhere. Just when I thought this crazy war was about to end too.

Bah, let the Xbox fanboys come! I'll show them that here's atleast one angry finnish dwarf with a sharp axe!

I imagine the curve of development is exponential and that the last 45% will be a lot quicker than the previous 65%.

I can just about live with March. Not that we can do anything if it's longer!

35% you mean, but yes, they are more exponential than linear. 👍
