The rain mixed with the unprepared drivers lead to disaster last night.. from what I'm seeing at least 4-5 people straight up didn't have rain tires for their cars.. not to mention daytona is tricky when dry.. I say we keep the rain with emphasis that it "could" rain, instead of forcing it. Since in the real world there is a possibility of rain and It can rain like it did last night.

At one point I was setting up a one make series that didn't really take off, but I did have a way to deal with the rain in a more controlled but random way.. dice roll, I would take a 20sided die (im a dnd nerd lol shut up) and assign start weather, and weather change to rolls x2 (most it could start with would be 40) and roll a 6sided die to get weather change (1-6 weather change)

So feedback on the weather? Or other things?
I thought that the transition from dry to slicks no longer working anymore was a bit quick. If that was an actual race, there may have been a safety car, if not red flagged.

It is nobody's fault but mine that I didn't have rain tires ready and I like having that added challenge of weather so I say we keep it. I agree that the transition seemed rather quick but it can happen that way in the real world as well. Possibly enforcing a "yellow flag" situation to allow everyone to pit may have helped...had we all been prepared.

Personally, I think we should keep the weather as a factor in the series... and not just because it seems like I was the only one on rain tires, but because I was having a blast sliding around in that Nissan! I'm sure if I had tried to drive not as sideways as yesterday I would have been doing sub 2 minute laps, but I couldn't resist! On to the next one guys!

A red flag or caution or all of us going into a 'start button' mode would at least have gotten all our cars into the pits safely.

On my end the car was going great until 1% came up. The thing is though at 1% it acted like the track was at 100% and it saturated too quickly. The game acted like the track was totally soaked, which at that point it should have been with the amount of rain coming down.

DrAqua had the same problem as me though with getting to the pits and having it just drive though it. It got me pretty pissed because I did have rain tires an was not allowed to change them. This just inhibited the race on my side although it was already totally thrown at point.

The game does not seem to register the proper saturation online which makes it kinda bad. Daytona of all tracks was probably not the best for this to happen because of the banking. I think the setting might need the adjustment but it goes to show anything can happen.

I'm really enjoying these races. This is my first go at online racing, and this seems like a good bunch of guys and the time slot works good for me and I hope to show steady improvement. As far as the weather goes, you did warn everyone before hand, but I couldn't keep it on the track even when it was dry anyway. Looking forward to next week.

Start of 2.1 final.jpg

just thought id show the start of the final of 2.1

First off: GT Academy GTR won Bathurst! (Whooo!)

Second:

Since next month will be a spec class, I wanted to start talking about that so we can roll into it with no (or minimal) problems.

We will not do a Miata or 86/BRZ one make series. They're fun, but they've have already been done to hell. (The 86 will beused coming up, though.)

However, I have yet to see anyone do a one make Ferrari 458 Challenge style one make series, and that was one of my first ideas. And as I've found out, we can match the current Ferrari Challenge specs, in terms of power and weight. The courses would be mostly grand prix circuits, but we'll stick Rome in there. (Because, you know... Italy.) These cars cannot have a flat floor added, so the aero isn't quite as good as what we're running now. But because of that, the speeds are up, and the braking zones are quite a bit longer that what we're used to.

Another idea when I launched this series was to do a one make Abarth/Fiat 500 race. Which went well...
If we go with this (maybe in the future), the idea I had was to race primarily on street circuits. It sort of fits the theme of the car, being a city car. I have specs for the Abarth and the Fiat to get them roughly the same speed, and they have much more power than they do stock.

The other thing I wanted to mention was race format. The 20 minute/60 minute thing seems to be okay for right now. If we're happy with that, we can keep it going forward.

Let me know what you guys think.

Both sound fun! I was actually poking around for a car and thought 69 camaro RM would be good.

I'd love to do a 458 challenge series. I'm happy with the 20/60 minute races too. Good way to spend my night. :)

Or maybe a little Japanese classics

One make or two make races whit
Toyota supra 3.0gt turboA '88
&
Mazda Rx-7 gt-x (fc) '90

As well I remember both of cars have the possibility of full body modification.

I like both ideas...a faster car on bigger circuits and slower car on smaller street circuits. I've always wanted to drive the 458. Current format of 20/60 is good.

Off topic, but Hey everyone, the ISMA Tudor sports car series is hitting Lime Rock Park on July 25th. I have a buddy with a small RV we can get a spot there with. I know I extended this invite to Flip a long time ago, but I would like to extend this invitation to everyone. I think a meet up and seeing the race would be awesome.

I know we are all over the place where we live, but it has been given the green light from the boss at home to invite everyone and offer a place to crash at our place. If anyone is interested let me know.

I greatly appreciate the invite, but it looks like I can't make it :( Scheduling conflict with something else. Which sucks, because I'd rather be there.

Sounds fun, probably noob ?, where is lime rock
Lime Rock Park in northwestern Connecticut. It is about an hour away from my house. A great place with a lot of history.

That stinks man :-( there are other races to hit though it does not have to be the Tudor race.

I would take you up on that but I'm light years away from Conneticut. I will probably be heading up to Road America though!
