Gran Turismo Sport delayed to 2017

That is a valid point.
I'm still sad that they dragged their feet to much with development. Like I said in my previous post, they had 50% of the game done at the Copper Box according to Kaz. I think that if they were to have had started development before the Paris Game Week event, and had the game roughly 75% complete at copper box, then they would have not had to delay the game. I personally believe they were not designing the game with a deadline in mind, and that they will release the game when they feel it is appropriate, even if that time is way beyond the deadline. Although that could be from a lack of staff, I'm not really sure.
Those percentages were BS though.

After 3 years or so you are at 50% and then have 3 months to finish the other half?

Eh, whatever.

I expect I'll be buying the special Forza 7 launch edition of Project Scorpio before GTS comes out.

Just a bit puzzling, is Kaz saying they started on the next GT (ahem, GT7) a bit after GT6 was released. Is this delay totally Kaz's fault. Remember, the cars were confrimed future proof. The game was given a release date. We were shown and told what should be expected in the game. Then, everything went pear-shaped. When Kaz did find out those specs for the Pro, was that his wake-up call? GT5/GT6 graphics were not going to fly this time?

4-5 years playing GTS, will possibly give PD time to make half of that proposed 500 cars.

Doubtful. This is a game that needs a marketing lead-up to release. Launching it post-Black Friday without a marketing campaign would be a bad decision, IMO. GT2 had that exact problem in Canada.

You really think so Slippy? Considering how long now the game was being built up for release, the previously announced or estimated due date of November 2016, and all the anticipation that was generated as a result? I really don't think they would need too much more marketing in advance...that despite all the whining once the game is announced as released there will surely be a whooping set of people jumping in to purchase as I and many others would. I can actually bet on it.

I think that they need at least a couple months to shop around advertisements and the like. There's maybe a few hundred thousand people who pay enough attention to know that it's releasing with no advertisement, and that's probably optimistic. Everyone else either needs to see an ad or needs to visit a shop and see it on a shelf.

They're not going to sell 10 million copies by sneaking it in the back door. They probably wouldn't make 5 million. Because no matter how good a game is, you can't buy it if you don't know it exists.

The wider gaming world either doesn't know or doesn't care about this game as it is. It's not talked about in any general gaming websites that I notice, even the blog posts about it on PS Blog attract a few dozen comments at best. It's not on people's must have lists.

Make no mistake, this game is going to need a big push when it does eventually resurface.

My son is a pretty big gamer and he's seen a couple of the trailers but he's not into racing games as much. Pretty much gets each GT and that's it. He thought the previews looked great, then I told him about the car and track list and his response was, "I thought it was a full game, sounds more like a demo"

Yeah but a preview is just a preview eh. That's why they call it a preview.

Is that why GT6 outsold GT5?

Was there any real competition or comparative racing games to Gran Turismo when GT5 debuted back in 2010?
Think about it. Let it simmer.

There was a few games that could be compared when GT5 launched and only 1 or 2 more when GT6 launched. Competition on the PS3 is not the reason GT6's sales were lower.

There were, just like there were in 2009, 2005, 2001 and 1999. And yet GT5, GTPSP, GT4, GT3 and GT2 all wiped the floor with everything and were industry events. GT6 had its sales halve and was mostly ignored by the industry upon release even though it still sold quite well and was a tentpole title; unless it was a slow news day and a gaming site would republish a press release about a VGT car or whatever. Is that the "money in the bank" Sony would seek out by giving GTS a limp-wristed marketing effort to pair with a surprise December release after the game spent the entire summer being ignored? GT is so big that dumping the game in store shelves with little fanfare would magically let everyone know about it even though the game has been completely under the radar since the beta was cancelled?

What anticipation? I don't mean that as a slight to GT Sport, but it doesn't enjoy the mainstream attention that other genres do. When Rockstar announced RDR2, it became a major trending topic on Twitter and Facebook. That doesn't really happen with GT. There's a bunch of anticipation here, yes — as you'd expect, really.

You're suggesting Sony would release its biggest racing franchise within the next 28 days — realistically 24, since that'd be the last Tuesday before Christmas — with almost no advertising whatsoever. It wouldn't launch this coming Tuesday, since FFXV is arriving that day. Which leaves the three Tuesdays of December. The first one already has a flag in it for The Last Guardian — y'know, the Sony game that's the butt of "it'll never release" jokes that isn't GT — so that leaves the 13th or the 20th.

I just don't see that being a wise move at all for Sony. I mean, you're free to bet on it as much as you'd like: I'm not really sure what your bet is, outside of "there will be some people that buy it", which seems sort of obvious. But I can tell you that there are some people that won't. As an example, @Northstar (sorry to single you out! :P ) has already stated he could only pick one system this generation. The wait for GT meant he bought an XB1.

Maybe folks like him will change their minds once they hear first-hand experiences from other players. Maybe they won't.

Have not been following GT Sport news lately after the delay.Any rough estimate of when GT Sport might release next year? Else I need to purchase a PS3 to suffice GT hunger.

But you set him straight and told him its like COD/BF with plenty of DLC to come and primarily online with no real single player capaign...?

With 61/140 cars yet to be revealed, PD need to balance the classes based on the 79 revealed:

Gr.B- 6

Gr.1- 7

Gr.3- 19

Gr.4- 3

N200- 1

N-Series- 3

"Normal" cars- 19

Safety Cars- 2

Vision GT with class pending- 13

Citroen-?

Honda-?

The classes could be evened with 19 cars for each class bar the VGT(17 maximum) before duplicating for the confirmed 20 car grids.
We would still need to know what other manufacturers will be in the game. Unless these are all the manufacturers we're getting. I'd be afraid to see duplicates in the Gr.4, N200 and N-series counts.

PD have said nothing since the delay except for telling us how realistic the Ferrari red paint will be when you play on PS4 Pro.

Classic PD lol. Like how on the back of the GT6 case it actually says "a new level of driver freedom that will change the racing genre forever"

How long without any proper news now, as in official?

As I say since the delay announcement on 30th August the only communication was about the fancy PS4 Pro effects earlier this month. The last actual update about the game that wasn't to announce a delay or just about tech stuff was E3 in June. They released the Nurburgring video in August but no actual game news with it.

Errr...no:sly:. He's not a good driver at all so online doesn't interest him at all for this kind of game. He mainly wants to roar around in all kinds of cars against the lame AI. We'll see what happens when it's released.

Almost half a year with no significant scoops then. They sure managed to get the most out of the copper box demo :D
Didn't PD state that they realized the importance of communicating with their fan base more regularly, when they released their pit stop blog? In the end nothing changed to their modus operandi...

Doom fans had to wait almost 11-12 years between 3 and 4. Video Gane development is one thing you certainly can't rush.

So they announced that Doom 4 was being worked on more than a decade ago? From what I can tell is that it started around 2008, and then got rehashed around 2011.

Does anything beat Duke Nukem's development cycle?

People are just trying to argue for the sake of arguing on these forums nowadays. I didn't mean it took them that many years to develop it literally, just that fans outside of the GT community should be fortunate their games come much earlier than some other fanbases.

People like to get bothered by the simplest things on these forums nowadays. No need to get your jimmys ruffled, I was just getting to the fact that the comparison doesn't fit in this case.
