You really think so Slippy? Considering how long now the game was being built up for release, the previously announced or estimated due date of November 2016, and all the anticipation that was generated as a result? I really don't think they would need too much more marketing in advance...that despite all the whining once the game is announced as released there will surely be a whooping set of people jumping in to purchase as I and many others would. I can actually bet on it.
What anticipation? I don't mean that as a slight to GT Sport, but it doesn't enjoy the mainstream attention that other genres do. When Rockstar announced RDR2, it became a major trending topic on Twitter and Facebook. That doesn't really happen with GT. There's a bunch of anticipation here, yes — as you'd expect, really.
You're suggesting Sony would release its biggest racing franchise within the next 28 days — realistically 24, since that'd be the last Tuesday before Christmas — with almost no advertising whatsoever. It wouldn't launch this coming Tuesday, since FFXV is arriving that day. Which leaves the three Tuesdays of December. The first one already has a flag in it for The Last Guardian — y'know, the Sony game that's the butt of "it'll never release" jokes that
isn't GT — so that leaves the 13th or the 20th.
I just don't see that being a wise move at all for Sony. I mean, you're free to bet on it as much as you'd like: I'm not really sure what your bet is, outside of "there will be some people that buy it", which seems sort of obvious. But I can tell you that there are some people that won't. As an example,
@Northstar (sorry to single you out!
![Tongue :P :P](/wp-content/themes/gtp16/images/smilies/tongue.svg?v=3)
) has already stated he could only pick one system this generation. The wait for GT meant he bought an XB1.
Maybe folks like him will change their minds once they hear first-hand experiences from other players. Maybe they won't.
