I know this may have been mentioned a lot but it is disgraceful that you can only save your game while online. A truly shocking move. No idea what they were thinking there.

Everything else is great, I love the game, but that decision is truly awful.

I guess it's enforcing online saves to limit future glitches like they had with GT6 launch (selling of the VGT / delete save game glitch). This way they can easily monitor everything and reset accounts with anomalies. Have in mind they are not having any microtransactions so they like to avoid people gaining credits in an unfair way.

Maybe this is also just a demo/beta thing where almost nothing works offline. If the beta/demo would still work offline lot's of people would just leave their PS4 turned on after they will switch the servers off tomorrow and could continue to play.

There was a news note in game yesterday stating that the full game is fully functional when offline. Besides Sport mode and lobbies of course.

Now that I actually think about it, that does make sense :)

There was a discussion about what the 'always online' statement meant in the build-up, and I saw this (despite my early optimism) as meaning the worst.

However, it is a time limited demo, so it is necessary. My bad.

They could have worded that a lot clearer though! Almost put me off buying the full game.

I keep getting worried that the servers will down while I'm working on a livery, really hope this does in fact work differently in the full game.

Hi,
What's the best strat for the Stage 6 30 LAP RACE? I mean pit on when/fuel full tank or not?
Fuel Map at two, always RH tires. Pit at the end of lap 8/16/24, refuel for 8 laps. Easy win, big gap to the pack.

Tried fuel map at 1 before, RH, pit at 6/12/18/24. Lead last lap, P2 close behind kicks me out three corners before finish line.

hth,
D.

I got to Level 15 & C - C this afternoon, & I believed I already saved at some point during the afternoon. Now I was forced to quit after Servers went down when I tried to Load an Online item & Now It's Loaded again & In turn reset my statistics to the beginning of the day with No Milage given & The Reward car being dished out again... Hmmm. I hope when Servers are Live again my progress will be restored properly.

It would be unwise to expect your demo progress to seamlessly continue in the full game, PD have mentioned that there's a cap on how much progress will be carried over, and as it's a Beta you're liable to lose your progress at any point.

Long story short, don't take your progress seriously til the full game comes out, just enjoy the graphics, physics etc. for now.

Couldn't agree more. But Still progress is progress! Pitchforks won't be out If nothing saves or Transfers as I like to start from the Bottom like in any GT Game (I usually Redeem My DLC Cars when I'm already a quarter of the way through my gameplay)

What a battle i have in mission Challenge Interlagos... Try many times to get the gold - first place. .. Maybe i not such a good driver... But i think the AI in this race received a upgrade... Changed my mind about the Campaign if exist more battles like this one.

to be honest I was thinking of sitting out GTS given that I'm having fun on PC with automobilista primarily (but also with rf2 / ac ) but the demo sold me and I preordered the digital deluxe edition, hopefully it will give me as much enjoyment as DC gave me! If only Sony allowed the G27 to work on the PS4 it'd be perfect, but can't have everything I guess, controller only for me and will keep the wheel for PC gaming for the time being

Nice also to see that some of my online acquaintaces from DC are also running in GTS :)

Its more Logitech at fault I believe.

You could use a DriveHub or GIMX to make it work though.

I thought about getting a gimx, but really, my G27 is at least 6 years old (I bought it very soon after it was released) so not sure it's worth spending money on it since I have no idea how much longer it will keep working (still perfect, but you never know). This said if there was an all-in-one package at a reasonable price rather than having to get the gimx, the rpi, the sd card, flashing and so on I probably would get it, but don't want the hassle right now and having to worry the SD card might get corrupted and have to be reflashed or gimx not running etc. etc.

I agree with your sentiment on this. I was really, quietly unimpressed until the demo arrived. I haven't pre-ordered it, i never do that for any game. I'll wait for the final game impressions on here, just to be sure if I will buy it or not. Much better to get user feedback on a dedicated site, than believe anything a games site says in it's reviews. Been seeing way too many people on forums all over the net, complaining that they didn't get what they expected lol.

That said, despite some minor worries about the future of the game, the gameplay itself has seriously impressed me. Please note that I am not a pro race gamer and won't be comparing it to any "sims" etc. I am only talking about myself and not the racing game community as a whole. But I am loving it.

I too am still pretty furious at both Sony and Logitech for needlessly dropping G27 support, as there was no good reason to do this whatsoever, other than to give you no choice but to buy the new one. But, that is what it is now and no amount of complaining from me will change that, so it's back to the control pad for the time being. I know i could buy just the wheel, as the G29 is compatible with my G27 pedals and shifter, but it's still a lot of money to pay out to play a video game. I will probably concede, further down the line, and get a G29 - as it's quite apparent already that this game NEEDS to be played with a wheel, if someone like myself (who is average at best) is going to be able to compete at any reasonable level. I need far too many aids to help me use the controller, that my car is seriously slow, compared to a wheel driven player.

But that's really only my main gripe ( excluding online only saves - eek! ). The rest has been excellent I think. That livery editor alone is superb. So well thought out and fluid.

Would love to get back on to the Green Hell, so am on the verge of buying the game, but want to wait a little longer and see what the posters here think of the game first.

Is anyone else worried about the fact we can only save when online?

From the manual: http://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gtsport/manual/#!/save/content01

NOTE: Online Saving Only
Gran Turismo Sport only supports online saving. Your game progress data will be stored on the online server. Please be aware, therefore, that any progress you make while offline cannot be saved (certain contents are saved onto the PlayStation®4 console's hard disk drive.) If you are playing offline, you will be able to use previously saved game progress data.

Gran Turismo Sport supports autosaving. To save manually, select "Save" from the Top Screen.

I know this is quite common for multiplayer games like Destiny. But as GT seems to have a lot of offline races and missions cant they just save progress offline and sync it with the servers when there is a connection?

I don't think I will, if the G27 ever dies on me I will likely go fanatec or something else, they could've sold a "G27 adapter for PS4" for $100 or even $150 and I would have bought it no problem, but having people toss their perfectly working wheels for no reason just because you want to sell them a new one that's about the same as the previous one does not sit well with me.

What kind of BS is this, Sony and PD?

The game has potential if they can greatly expand the roster of both cars and tracks. But at this point, I'd be leery of buying it simply because of the constant CE-38700-8 errors. Not being able to access the options menu is killing the demo for me - the menus music is fine, but some of the race music tracks are awful.

I decided that for all normal racing the Stability Control is a necessity as the cars do have a tendency to go out of control with very little provocation. I seem to recall a similar problem with an earlier GT game. I wonder if the issue is resolved in the retail version.

So they can't simply deal two saves: one on the servers, and the latest one on your console? All they have to do is to check the save on your console and if something is wrong, provide the latest save online. TBH, this kind of decision seems very arrogant, I can't believe Poly is serious and we are supposed to accept it.

At this point I think it's best for everyone's mental health to brace for launch issues.

I expect there to be problems for the first few weeks. Maybe months. It's a big project and PD doesn't have a solid track record with online quality. Maybe Sony makes things tougher somehow as well, who knows.

This reminds me of the Battlefield 4 launch. If you recall, it was a proper mess for a while. It took some big updates but now BF4 is considered a classic. I hope the same for Sport, I'm willing to match their dedication as long as I see them putting out regular fixes and optimizations.

Also do not underestimate the demand being put on the servers either. Don't forget how huge of a draw this franchise is.

I think they neet put offline mod and standart cars back.

You mean this?

The fact that the demo is a free-to-play download and online play does not require a PlayStation Plus subscription are two major factors that are probably not being considered by others as well. Its entirely-free-to-play status is no doubt causing a lot of stress on the game's servers. People are seemingly and automatically assuming that all PlayStation 4 owners have a PlayStation Plus subscription.

I have good faith that server performance will improve in time for the game's retail launch.
