I believe S is the highest rank. Comes after A. In terms of DR, it's all about how fast you are and your wins, and in terms of SR, it's how clean you race. The higher your SR rank, the less ghosting you experience in online races. At S level SR there is no ghosting at all.
Not true. My SR rank is S and there is still ghosting when people run off-track or collide with eachother.

When I was a lad we had to get up four hours before we went to bed to walk 3 miles barefoot in the snow to line up outside the game store for 5 hours just to get the chance to touch the empty box the games came in...

How the... How did you sheer metal by just driving around?

I'm just that strong. :sly: No, just 1000s of stresses pulling the sides of the wheel back and forth which made a crack form at the weakest part.

Sorry for you wheel but loved the fact that you kept driving! Thats dedication

Thanks haha, couldn't lose a race now could I!

S ranked drivers don't have ghosting, but the drivers who aren't S rank still will, which is why people you are racing are ghosting.

Yamamoto-san has posted this on his FB account so I took a chance and commented it that he should make Kaz include some of his cars, like the Opera S2000 for example (they are friends) and he liked my comment (yay) so maybe maybe maybe it means something :D

Sony's ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ takes pole position for week 42

https://ukie.org.uk/news/2017/10/sonys-‘gran-turismo-sport’-takes-pole-position-week-42

Sony debut at No1 with ‘Gran Turismo Sport’, launched on Wednesday 18th October and this is a first outing on PS4 – original ‘Gran Turismo’ launched on PS1 back in week 19, 1998 and the last version was ‘Gran Turismo 6’ on PS3 back in week 49, 2013 – ‘GT Sport’ has a better week 1 units than both of these but is nowhere near the series high of 2010’s ‘Gran Turismo 5’ (week 1 was over 3 times higher).

Yes, I feel it was a design choice. I only hope hardware/memory advances in the computing industry make it possible to process weather and time of day in conjunction with the other graphical bells and whistles that PD chose over weather and time transitions. I do feel the base outlay for a PS System will grow to about $700.00. However, what might rescue the situation is PS platforms with upgradeable GPU CPU. That way the game could be played with the transitions provided you purchase the additional hardware. If you don't desire the weather changes, leave your system stock.
They already have. PC2 on PC is a much better looking game than on console and has all of those dynamic TOD and weather effects. Remember console hardware is very limited to keep the price down.

Well, I'm officially declaring my relationship with GTS over. I'm not going to play game where I get a 10 second penalty, two of them infact, in a race where I hit someone who has crashed in front of me. That is not my fault, I did not cause their accident and I did not know they were going to stop ghosting almost immediately as I hit them. Screw it, screw this game. I'm off to PC2.

Ah that explains it! :) Thanks!

Perhaps it's only when DR is also S? Or maybe some of the top streamers I've watched have just not had any incidents that required ghosting.

~90k+ first week. Forza 7 was ~25k, PC2 All platforms was ~18k.
That's higher than I expected.

Edit: Actually, make it almost 100k.

Here all sales extrapolated to 100% of the market.

Gran Turismo - 44,000 or 57,000 (I don't know if the reported 44,000 figure was extrapolated)
Gran Turismo 2 - 115,000
Gran Turismo 3 - 92,000
Gran Turismo 4 - 281,000
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - 120,000
Gran Turismo 5 - 299,000
Gran Turismo 6 - 61,000

EDIT 2: Sorry, misread the text. GT5 "sold OVER 3 TIMES higher".
It sold anywhere between 76k (3,9) to 96k (3,1).

Is the only way to increase DR to win races?
I seem to qualify in the top 4-5 fairly often, unless it doesn't register my quali time, but I've not won the last few races, just collecting what would be podiums... but my DR doesn't seem to be increasing all that much

I've had various friends (I don't chat to that often) talk to me about GT Sport who don't really have an interest in the series.

Looks like the competitive slant and brand power is selling it. Fantastic figures in the UK considering we've got terrible taste when it comes to these charts. Very rarely see anything that isn't CoD, FIFA or GTA at the top spot.

It'll probably be ousted by Mario this week but a good debut, none-the-less.

I'm pretty sure I lost DR yesterday after winning a race, so seems even winning doesn't improve DR :P

*takes no avoiding action for crashing/crashed vehicle*
*game's fault*

To be fair, ghosting makes it really weird. Because it's largely impossible to know whether the ghosting will continue as you pass through them, strictly speaking the safe option is to take evasive action if you can. Just like in real life. But then you get into weird situations where someone who drives worse and just plows through them ends up faster because the ghosting stayed up. It turns from a situation where superior driving, reactions and observation give a better outcome to one determined in large part by luck.

I like the idea of ghosting, but the inconsistency inherent in having cars come in and out of intangibility really screws with the strategy. Arguably it's probably superior to just YOLO into them instead of trying to evade, the faster you're going the higher chance the game keeps ghosting triggered so that you don't have a massive impact. Assuming that's how the trigger works, I don't really understand it at this point.

So has everyone tweeted to https://twitter.com/thegranturismo and https://twitter.com/Kaz_Yamauchi about how awful it is to force online for the whole game, right down to game saves? Not even being able to use scapes, play single player campaign, or save progress is highly ridiculous, especially with all of these server issues. Honestly don't know what Kaz is thinking. They probably want to get data on what users are doing at all times, but this is at the cost of good user experience or downright actual ownership of a game people paid premium price for.
Done them already... we'll see if he consider it or not.

Wait.....wheres the Lotus Evora? It's present on the beta but not the final version. Checking Youtube footages and the newest is 3 months old.

Its the Race version, kinda like Toyota SFR Race Concept, its a separate car.

Lotus got bought by a company called geely or something like that recently which probably caused licensing issues.

Is it in the game though? I don't think I've seen a gr.4 mx-5 at all.

That applies to nearly every country in the world. Even in Japan, COD is a top seller and GTA did insanely well
Same over here in the middle east. GTA, Fifa, Tekken, Call Of Duty, Overwatch and Crash Bandicoot are probably the only games that sells well. However MMO, RPG and strategy type of games aren't that popular here compared to the western market.

GT used to be more popular over here but Forza Horizon, NFS and IOS/Android driving games are for more well known among gamers and car enthusiasts. Doesn't help that we aren't into motosport at all which's what GT Sport is all about compared to previous games. The lack of cars...etc.

Of course the DR level can change.

What's the point of ranking without the ranks changing.

I've just never seen/heard of it changing, so I was wondering how possible it was and what would trigger it.

Particularly in light that winning doesn't necessarily move the rating!

Hi people,

Does anyone know the best lap that was done with a DS4 pad with the Civic on Brands Hatch? My absolute best was 57.365 (never managed to do it again haha), but I had in mind the best overall was around 56. something. I wonder what was the best with a gamepad?
For future championships, it would be fair to have sorta of a distinction, because clearly a gamepad is around a second disadvantage. To achieve perfect laps with a DS4 with the Civic on brands Hatch, it requires great abilities and the concentration of Doctor Strange.

And practice, I think I managed a 57.1 in a race while trying to chase down the leader, but I'm pretty terrible and I would say that if you where skilled getting low 56's would be easily achievable with a pad
