One just cant be the "laughing stock of the industry" when he is the one which sells the most games.

'laughing stock' is obviously an exaggeration.

The point being made was that PD's seeming inability to hit even basic targets, produce games in a sensible period of time, and vaguely communicate with their vast fanbase is not befitting of a modern games developer.

And I think that point is absolutely relevant.

This has probably been asked before but how many people can race online in a single race? Is it 16 again?
In GT6 I believe that it's a maximum of 16 players in a room. I'm not 100% sure though, I haven't played it in a while.

I'm so sick of this bull ****, the creator goes on and on about making the game in the era we live in ... How can u even accurately accomplish this when you keep dragging ads on completion of the game , well be in a whole new era by the time the damn game FINALLY gets released. It's been three years since the game was first introduced that it was being Made. I'm not even going to care about or want the ****ing game anymore by the time it actually comes out . There's no news on it ever , no gameplay not even a screen shot , just the same dumb ass trailer we've been seeing for over a year now .Gran turismo 7 is the reason I bought a PS4 , iv been a fan since the first one, but this is ridiculous. Now we have to wait for some GT sport whatever the hell that is, to come out before we can see 7. I dunno about anyone else but in getting real inpatient about this whole thing. from how this is going so far PS 5 will be out before GT7,, UN ****ing believable.

The saddest thing is that they could placate you, and everyone else, by simply communicating something, anything.

PD wont care about being called the ,,laughing stock of the industry'' when they are still considered the developer of the best selling driving game. (And despite selling lower numbers than part 5, GT6 still sold more than all the other racing games of its time ;))
I would have hoped Kaz "Expect Perfection" Yamauchi cared more than how much his game series lined various pockets.

And with that attitude the game will just keep getting worse and worse. You poor deluded fool.
Does Apple care that so many android users are calling Apples products un innovative, outdated and what not? No, because its just some Android Fanboys who are saying this, despite their products being good selling well.

So why should PD care that a few GT "fans" (...) here on GT Planet are calling them "the laughing stock in the industry"? Despite their products being good and selling well...

Whats so bad about GT6 that make you think that way?

Android phones get released. Apple phones get released.

There's none so blind as those who will not see ;)

Remember when they said the GTSport beta would be out in early 2016?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

lol, I remember all too clearly.

What's happening right now, I fear, is a delay to an announcement of a delay at E3.

And no mention of the beta ever again.

No idea what/who Pepperridge Farm is, but I find it ironic PD missing the beta release date (it still says early!) when Jordan himself, IIRC, that he thought it was announced a bit early.

Jordan knows more about GT than Kaz!

Are you sure about this?

Apple cares if their products are being outclassed by competitors products. That's why they spend so much money on R&D. They don't just want to sell the best phones now, they want to sell the best phones forever, if they can. That means delivering a product that is consistently at or near the top of the field for any given price point.

You clearly think that GT6 is an example of a product that is at or near the top of the field at it's price point. That's fine for you, but I can tell you that there's a significant amount of people who bought GT6 that don't think so, and another ~5 million people who bought GT5 that thought that GT6 wasn't worth buying at all.

That doesn't seem to me to be a company that knows how to satisfy its customers, especially when they haven't announced any information about their new product in six months even though there's supposedly an open beta in the next two weeks.

You can attempt to defend them all you like, but Polyphony should care about making the best game they can and not just churning out dreck because fanboys and girls will buy it. They should care about getting people on board with their exciting new game. They should care about talking with the community, taking feedback, giving explanations why they choose to design things in certain ways and so on.

Otherwise they're little more than Need for Speed on a much, much slower release schedule, churning out the next nearly identical game to milk more cash from those who haven't yet got bored of the same old game. There's a place for those sorts of games too, but Polyphony position themselves as innovative industry leaders. I'm not seeing it.

Think what way? You were the one who said PD likely don't care how their games are perceived as long as the games sell the best. That flies in the face of what PD say themselves practically every time they say something just like it does for the equally ridiculous Apple comparison you used to justify it.

Something is just not right. If Kunos with just 27 staff can not only announce a release date but provide updated information via YouTube and their own website then what does that say about PD?

Gran Turismo is the franchise that has kept me in console gaming past the point I'd give it up but I didn't even think of it when picking up the PS4. Assetto corsa will provide my driving requirements.

Thats not comparable. Racing games havent changed its principles in the last years, phones did have since the rising of the iPhone. Nokia didnt react to the new touchscreen smartphone trend (and sticked to their outdated symbian pressure sensitive touch phones) and tried to hop in years too late with an OS that wasnt needed.

Thats not the Case with Gran Turismo. Racing games havent seen some magic change and GT6 still is comparable to todays racing games.

This is true, for sure. But that could be rather said about Call of Duty than Gran Turismo. To me atleast, GT6 is the overall best game i've played.

Arguably the GT series has been equalled or fallen behind on just about every single important aspect of of a racing game from a afficionado's perspective. They are comparable with current games only in that they have cars on tracks.

PD made their games in that way since GT1 - and always delivered great games that sold well! So why should they have to change anything?

So Polyphony isnt the innovative industry leader because they didnt communicate officially since the announcement of GT Sport? I guess Vision GT, GT Academy, Partnership with FIA and other stuff doenst count something... as well as having the only recent game in the genre of driving sims with an Course Maker, the Partnership with the Ayrton Senna Institute, the Goodwood stuff, the possibility to drive on the moon...

The only game series thats comparable to GT (at least to a traditional GT) is Forza. Other games like PCars, Assetto Corsa or Dirt Rally are way to small in scope to be compared to GT or Forza and have a different (more motorsport oriented) focus.

Once more is known about GT Sport you can possibly compare it to the other games, as its looking like a smaller, motorsport oriented game.

OK cool, I'll just leave you to your quite impressive positivity!

In the real world, meanwhile...

:banghead:

Yeah, because thats the only feature i've listed

It and the course maker are the only features you listed. And the course maker showed up 20 months late and in another time zone from the originally announced capability; though you're right that it is something that the series brought to the table.

The rest of the things you listed are development partnerships and licencing agreements. Development partnerships, one of which we haven't even seen put to use yet you still listed it anyway, are not inherent gameplay innovations. Development partnerships could turn out to contribute as little to the quality of the game as the KY Automotive partnership and Yokohama tire partnership did for GT6.

Lets see...

Vision GT - Cars directly designed from the manufacturer exclusively for Gran Turismo

GT Academy - One of a kind event with the chance to become a race driver - starting by competing events in Gran Turismo

Partnership with FIA - tba

Course Maker - Maybe 20 months late, but still the only game with such a thing ;)

Ayrton Senna - Special events which added go-karts and cars of Ayrton Senna (and supporting the Ayrton Senna Institute)

Goodwood - which games do have this track and special events on it?

The moon - The moon
