I think Jordan already have a huuuuge post for main page with new info about GT Sport, just like with Course Maker. We just need to wait until next week, when PD will make all last checks and permissions.

Just kidding, of course
Or not?

I still consider April as "early 2016." One (eg. PD and Sony) could say June is still early 2016 because they divide the year in half. But come July 1....

Anyways, I haven't been holding my breath. Whenever they release it, I will judge it versus pCARS/Assetto. After GT5/6, they're no longer the standard bearer for me.

Sitting here waiting for that suspected GTS announcement like.....

PD? Launch title?

Then that means... "Neo delay confirmed"!

;)

We could eventually need to shift focus on this matter. As @AudiMan2011 suggests GT could well have been put on a hold in order to sync with Sony’s bigger (VR) picture.

In march 2015 Sony announced an updated spec for the virtual reality headset with a 120Hz refresh rate (Initially it was refreshing @60Hz) The release date at the time was set to the first half of 2016. In the intermediate we learned the headset has been pushed to Q4 2016 and that a major revision of the console is on it’s way (at least if persistent rumors are to be confirmed). Finally so called Sony leaked guidelines are suggesting that starting October 2016 PS4 games will require both Base and Neo modes.

Possibly just a coincidence...

It's already been confirmed that the headset and it's accompanying hardware will not have role in increasing framerates. The console has to carry the entire load in that regard.

More like GTS delayed on PS4.0 to showcase the power of the Neo.

It's just the idea of relying of PD for a launch title made me chuckle :) And to think that PD were on schedule but held back to sync up with the hardware release seems even more far-fetched, to me.

I've no doubt Neo is happening - Sony would've denied it otherwise, sales of PS4 have probably been affected.

Sony FY2015 40m PS4 shipped as of March 31, 2016 (2.3m in Q4 / 17.7m in FY)

So now saying "a few weeks or so" (emphasis mine) doesn't really change much.

We've cleared the six month mark without anything past the original trailer. The latest comments from the FB could point to E3, which is all well and good... but really, I imagine most of us simply expected the game to have a presence there. It also barely falls into the "Spring" timeline – which isn't even the spot PD themselves announced ("early 2016").

That timeline they originally announced was also a reference to the open beta, not the next official reveal of any information (unless the beta goes live simultaneously with E3, which would be a big surprise).

E3's the middle of June, less than three weeks before we start the second half of the year. I think it's safe to say the original timeline is no longer applicable, unfortunately.

On facebook they clearly said "before june" in addition to "days" and "weeks" - so we can expect something in may!

And there could lie the trouble, IMO.

Back at GDC 2015:

Shuhei Yoshida

Key changes:
120hz refresh rate: The previous refresh rate spec has been doubled for this new prototype, which means games for Morpheus can be rendered at 120fps. When combined with the OLED display’s high refresh rate and the power of PS4, Morpheus is able to output amazingly smooth visuals.

Sony has insisted VR games must sustain at all time a minimal 60fps. I can imagine 120Hz exists because 2x60 reprojection is less intensive (original PS4 territory???) than a straight 90Hz render; the seemingly adopted standard by the other players as both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive have a native 90Hz refresh rate.

And so has PSVR (2016 PSVR Event)

Could be reading too much into this, but the imperative need of a more powerful architecture to sustain the increased load of VR appears to me like the only sensible reason Sony would put their dominant and comfortable position in this console generation at risk.

That's hardly surprising seeing as the news broke towards the end of March! To properly see it you'll need the next few months figures, and some way of seasonally adjusting them.

I'd guess that too, but Sony aren't likely to say that even when Neo launches, if they want to sell VR to PS4 owners. Seems to me they've got themselves a bit tangled up.

The way I understand it to work is that the console/game has to produce a native 60 fps and then it's further processed to generate an additional frame between each frame to get the framerate up to 120 fps. The middle frame is interpolated between 2 frames which makes it easier on the hardware than generating a raw 120 fps but still harder than producing 60fps. How much harder we don't know.

Next week is the golden week in Japan, I believe.

Whatever the reason is, I don't find acceptable how poly treats their customers. With the pitstop blog, I thought things will change but not. And no studio is too big too fail.

If I had any pride, I wouldn't buy their game :P
Its your choice, and we all do what we want to do, and dont tell us what we want to do with some "pride" bull**it etc etc... goosh

Yea I think I'm finally pulling the trigger. With dirt rally and AC here, I'll be ok even if the GT Sport beta pushes to the end of the year, which I expect. NEO will be at least $100 more than I need to spend. I couldn't care less about the 4K and VR. Only the smoother frame rates are tempting. So forget it.

I'm happy that this Sony exec ran his mouth and gave us hope for GTS, but my feeling is that his thinking is as wishful as pre-GT5 fredzy.

Also PS4 bundles are freaking $300 at Sam's Club!
