The jump from PS3 to PS4 won't be nearly as significant as the jump from PS2 to PS3 was, or PS1 to PS2. Sure, there's gains to be made, but not nearly as much as before.

The gains will come more in terms of improved lighting and texture work. The majority of Premiums are at the point of diminishing returns - other than the lack of underhood modelling - and PD has a history of great work in the lighting department. I think the big area that we could see improvement in would be the tracks themselves: while Goodwood and Ascari have incredible lighting in GT6, other tracks look and feel flat.

Given the focus on motorsports, I'd be surprised if we don't see a field increase to at least 24 cars, too. It's really the bare minimum for decent multi-class racing, if PD offers it.

For the longest, I wanted to speculate on what Gran Turismo SPORT would probably be like. My only area of concern relates to how deep and how complete is this package going to be? I am thinking the collaboration between Gran Turismo and the FIA can entail almost anything considering how many different series the FIA sanctions and how many different kinds of racing GT can pull off. When I was blogging my thoughts on GT Sport, I was thinking Gran Turismo could cross into uncharted territory. Like, I want to imagine seeing stuff like FIA karting, Formula 3, maybe World Rallycross, or maybe even something like the World Touring Car Championship. Long shots in all of this would be the return of the WRC (like in GT5) or even Formula 1.

I even feel like depending on the execution of GT Sport, concepts from some sort of career mode or team-building mode should be implemented into Gran Turismo 7 to offer the best execution of a racing model concept in Gran Turismo history. For now, everything is still speculation. I do feel there is somewhat a golden opportunity for GT SPORT to offer something great.

I agree with this post. Quite frankly, I want the FIA parts to have a 2016 Gran Turismo meets Toca of old style to it.

Possible GT Sport screenshots may have been leaked on Twitter by Super GT drivers Satoshi Motoyama and Kohei Hirate, who attended Polyphony Digital's annual (and notorious) Christmas party.

Although I was skeptical Kohei's RC F image had anything to do with GT at first glance, my opinion began to change when I later saw it in Satoshi's gallery, where it appears in a lineup with other images. If you look closely, what appears to be the "GT" logo is displayed in the top right hand corner of each of the frames. The unusual location and placement of the Audi R18 in a night-time cityscape is also suspiciously Photomode-like.

A reverse image search of the RC F image returned no similar results, ruling out press shots. Rome has, of course, also featured prominently in the GT series in the past.

Just wanted to see if you guys could dig up any other clues from these before I post them on the blog. 👍

Yep, that lexus city shot is definitely game, not real life, while the lighting looks fantastic you can see the car has no self-reflections. And it definitely breaks the illusion a bit, because the rest of the shot looks incredibly life-like, they could at least put screenspace reflection there like Driveclub does to have self reflections.

Not liking the static Environment there

Thanks for the gif. I am sure there will day/night and weather cycle in Nurburgring. It is demanding track to build as well. It is like a forest and I guess that is why it is called green hell. The gfx look great hope other track also get this treatment. Silverstone is probably the most bland track with empty grand stand.

It's been a while since I played but don't pretty much all GT6 tracks have empty grand stands, to help with performance? I definitely remember Red Bull Ring launching and stands always being empty.

That, and to avoid having a ton of 2d sprite crowds.

Personally I'd rather have a tiny smattering of decent looking 3D crowds for performance and esthetic reasons than big 2D crowds or creepy, low poly 3D fans. Gotta be a tough choice for devs though, trading off framerate for what is basically not even icing on the cake but more like little sprinkles.

I dunno, I think a good atmosphere around the track makes a surprisingly large difference to the feel of driving.
True, but they have to nail the framerate on this one for Morpheus and this is one of the things that might not make the final cut if it affects framerates. I wonder if they'll have a different set of parameters available for using the headset to help with the framerate.

Agree with you but i don't think GTS is the case.
Gtsport appear to be something very individualistic among the other simulators and racing games; you will be a driver with the opportunity of either represent your nation or a manufacturer. I can't really see any team building mechanic into the game here at this point, maybe something will come along when they'll release GT7 but for now something a la Grid is really far from this tbh.

I'm not the only one then  too many tracks suffer from this; the lack of any bystander or decoration makes the race pretty bland, take Red Bull Ring for example.

Gran Turismo is an incredible car racing series of games. GT6 on PS3 beat hands down PCars on PS4 regarding car handling behavior, physics engine, and AI. Nevertheless I believe Gran Turismo Sport will be an upgraded GT6 running on PS4 with some improvements on graphics, interface. I will buy it so I can enjoy the PS4 while I wait for the GT7. That's wise marketing and it's good.
If I were PD would launch remasterized "Golden Edition" from GT to GT4 with all cars and tracks "released" for the PS4, and later on (after GT Sports and GT7) the same for the GT5 and 6 for the PS4. They will collect a few bucks and keep customers interested and satisfied.

I think you're going to get a lot of contrasting opinions on that one...

EDIT: Jinked it.
To be honest, it's so wrong it's not even worth discussing. Like trying to argue with a 9/11 truther or someone who believe in alien conspiracies:lol:. That's not a slight on GT or raising PCars on some pedestal where it doesn't belong. It's not a perfect game by any stretch and has some issues (camber:mad:)but in terms of overall physics, FFB and certainly AI, it's well beyond GT.

And I think Driveclub is more realistic and fun than GT, but hey, that's only my opinion. :sly:

As for the beta coming out in 2016, I'll be one of those people who waits and see cause PD has a history of not fulfilling their promises or taking YEARS to actually fulfill them...

That is correct.
---
So, how many more months until we can get our hands on that beta? You guys think they'll even get it out by "early 2016"?
At this point i expect anything from PD, for the better or the worse.
They could even pull a playable demo by tomorrow morning for all we know.

That is his opinion.

And I share his opinion, particularly on physics, handling.

But this is not the subject of the thread.
Physics (handling is a function of physics so it's the same thing) aren't an opinion, they are quanitifiable and they are measurably more comprehensive in Project Cars. It's like saying in my opinion the graphics are better in Grid Autosport vs. GT6. The graphics in GT6 are demonstrably and measurably better than Grid Autosport on the PS3 so for one to say their opinion is different is meaningless.
