Please note that they have interviewed and profiled one staff member per department for the new website. This is not indicative of the number of members of staff in each department.

For the most up to date publication of their staff size and their specific roles, I recommend checking the GT6 credits.
2 year old credits from a videogame are more accurate than their own current website?

:odd::odd:

Their new website has a supercut used for their background page. It's apparently sourced from an unlisted YouTube video from their official channel.

Not liking the static Environment there

PD provide application form for the jobs and even salary explanation, the car simulation engineer has some nifty experience requirements, one of them is real car track experience. Akihiko Tan is the man on the spotlight, but I fail to see how the guy did a good job with how GT5/6 car specs and setup are all messed up in terms of accuracy and realism in tuning. Almost none of the road cars uses real life data for weight distribution, alignment and spring rate, just to name a few.

Kaz needs a lot more competent car simulation crew.

Given the amount of trees there are, and how big the 'Ring is, wouldn't that be a good thing performance wise?

Oh yeah no doubt, but coming from TW3 and Driveclub this is really noticable. (granted they're 30 FPS games).

Funny how we brought up the same thing just in different threads. (Be sure to read Huks' response.)

Is it just me being paranoid or is PD planning on using the 2D paper cut-out trees again? Notice the tree nearest to the apex of the turn at :28 to :32. The camera pans from right to left but you still see the exact same side of the tree. It does not seem to be a 3D model.
I see the phenomenon you're talking about, but I do think the trees in the trailer have a certain depth to them that couldn't be done with simple 2D paper cutout trees. If I had to make a wild guess, I'd say they're doing it the Driveclub way; basically 3D trees that have groups of leaves represented by 2D sprites always facing the camera.

They look fantastic in photos and when you're driving past them at full speed, but things get weird when the camera is moving past slowly.

@Ameer67  , good points about Driveclub doing it in a smilillar manner, but DC's trees do move about, they do look more 3d-ish aswell. But can't tell for sure.

It's not likely you'll see DC level graphics, more than 16 cars on track and maintain a solid 60 fps on the PS4. Comprimises will have to be made somewhere.

You are most likely correct. However, Driveclub went into crazy detail. 1 million trees on track, several layers of paint, various animals..... etc. Basically a lot of stuff you rarely/don't see. If you take that all away, that's a fair bit of power freed up.

On top of this, Sony are unlocking the 7th core. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens :D

Well, if you believe their marketing. I personally never did. We can see from other PS4 games so far, the power just isn't there.

That depends partially on how well-optimized the game engine is. There's a reason some of the worst-looking indie games run worse than even the most demanding of AAA games sometimes.

I don't think the game will ever be optimized well enough to be able to achieve that within GT. There's a reason why they are running at 30fps with half a field of cars.

I wonder what happened to the collaboration with KW and Yokohama. Let's just hope that PD are furthering the relationship, because suspension and tyres have a massive effect on performance and hence the physics of Gran Turismo. Those two areas are in urgent need of an overhaul and I'm interested to see what will change, if anything.

I doubt Driveclub is maxing out the PS4 though, GTS will also have the advantage of the extra core and the bigger budget.

I don't think it's anything. Didn't Porsche's at one time have them on their windshields as well? Probably just marketing/sponsoring.
Yeah, they're sponsoring quite a few events, such as the ADAC 24h Nürburgring and I think at some point, they sponsored the D1GP as well - I think they still do, however I'm not sure on that. Part of that sponsoring deals seems to be that all cars are "forced" to drive with those GT windshield banners.

EDIT: I should read more posts than just the two most recent ones. :dunce: I should go to bed now, I think.

It may not be, but it doesn't mean we should expect Driveclub-like graphics on GTS.
I hope GTS doesn't have Driveclub-like graphics, but beyond that.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to throw out my expectations before I get disappointed

Id be satisfied with the current graphics in premium model cars providing they can fit more cars into an online lobby,

Thing is we do not know what to expect, there are still some fantastic looking 60 FPS games that give DC a run for it's money like MGS V and SW BF.
