WARNING! BITTERSWEET WALL OF TEXT INCOMING!

In my opinion (based on this beta) the graphics are nice, scapes should be a nice feature for photomode enthusiasts and the livery editor looks great so far. The UI looks really good and something you would expect from a modern game, not GT4/GT5P good from my point of view (again, my opinion, don't kill me!) the sounds were really hard to hear but to me it sounded almost like GT6, especially the tire squeal, guess we have to wait from a direct feed for a clear judgement, but the fact sounds weren't highlighted in the trailer makes me think not much has changed... we'll see. My main issue with the event was that there were no consequences at all, which promoted some questionable driving from part of the drivers: dive bombing, trying to get back on track after a spin out, getting back into the racing line immediatly after going off track, etc, etc. if anything this looked like your average GT5/6 lobby... which was really a shame, because the event itself was a superb idea and an excellent opportunity to showcase what makes motorsport so enjoyable to watch, the races had it's moments, but if some kind of damage was implemented, then half of the players wouldn't have finished the race, even Kaz admitted that the players "needed some practice." next time, instead of getting "the best in the woooooooorlddddd!" they need to get a bunch of clean drivers on a similar level that actually battle clean for positions, these event would have been better if a beta was available beforehand and players had time to actually play against each other. Long story short: I think GTS, right now, is an ok game and your typical GT game, in time we'll see how much the game improves.

I'm not really sure what next-gen are you talking about here... first of all, PS4 is here for about 2 and a half years so it's just current-gen... second of all: DriveClub looks really good, especially in rain, but it didn't look like it does now 3 year ago on gameplay presentations so chill off.

ok.Thanks for the info.

Look, I'll be one of the first to defend PD - and GT Sport, because I was very happy and hopeful with what I saw - but when a lot of people reach a similar conclusion, can you not acknowledge that at least part of the reason for that must be on the product that was shown?

Put it this way, if reaction to the game was overwhelmingly positive you wouldn't say "well that's nothing to do with what PD has done, that's just people's poisonously-positive attitudes changing the forum mood!". No, you'd attribute at least some of it to what PD have created. It's reasonable to do that if a lot of people independently have a similar reaction to the same thing - regardless of whether that reaction is very positive, very negative or somewhere in between.

This crap about how it's just nasty people making GTPlanet a nasty place when in "the good old days" it wasn't a nasty place is I think total rubbish, and it helps no one.
Referring to old days can be dangerous, I admit. Today is a good day to look at the big picture and support PoDi. Without them we wouldn't be discussing here. Are you a pc player by the way?

And lets not talk about the amazing scape feature..

No, let's talk about the amazing Scapes feature because it's the one thing that has been revealed so far that is (as far as I can tell) head and shoulders above anything in any other games. Other games have photomodes, but nothing with such an expansive set of locations and that seems to place the cars so well in the scene. It's very impressive.

I meant that in favour of GTSport, the scape feature shows that the lighting in GTS is way ahead of anything else! I just wanted to show screenshots of the actual racing in the game.

And a HUGE amount of locations

Good points.
About the drivers: they are top class. I believe the excitement played a big role in this first event. And there was a software bug just before the 5 lap Nordschleife race. Can anybody confirm id PD had to change the software so that it affected the physics? Causing different ffb feedback for the players. I remember reading something like that in the news section replies.

Thinking back, it sounds like a typical GT game to me. Amazing visuals, amazing cars, amazing tracks, weakish sound (although improved this time around, admittedly), no damage, seemingly accessible, but nice feeling physics, amazing photomode, bizarre Polyphony style (history of cars told via the medium of those "On This Day" thing with theatre, art, and opera)...

And you know what? That's no bad thing. I have PCARS for my white knuckle racing fix. GT has always been a sort of virtual interactive toybox of cars for me, rather than a racing game as such. A more laid back and casual affair. That's why I call it a typical GT game, for me. Now, whether that's what people expected from this, or what they want from a GT game, is another matter. That's what I want GT to be, and well, this looks to deliver well on those fronts. I think the games will continue to carve out this niche, in that respect. Serious race fans might want to look elsewhere.

Not bad at all, PD.

Again, I totally agree. I wish more people would see it this way.
