Edit: wait a second, regarding Seatlle, how come we didn't get confirmation since supposedly everyone ran it during the first day? or am I missing something.

So my thoughts on GT Sport.

1. After GT6 I said I was done with the GT franchise. I'm a little older than when I started to frequent this forum and I play a lot less games. But after seeing GT Sport I have to say I may head back in. This time around however I'm going to hold off on a pre order and wait for a GOTY type edition with all the DLC or something to this effect.

2. So some people don't like the way GT Sport looks. While they still have some polishing to do, I think this could be a pretty game. It's clearly the GT6 game engine tweaked and shaped to run at optimal FPS on PS4. My gut instinct is, Sony needed some killer apps for PSVR and what better type of game but racing. As PD are in-house it seemed appropriate the next GT game would be compatible.

PD probably couldn't do a new game engine in time so why not use a tried and tested one which when pushed on more powerful hardware could run at decent FPS and resolution which are needed for a puke free VR experience. This is why GT7 isn't here, Sony/PD have been concerned with getting it prime time for PSVR launch.

3. This leads me to a little more speculation on my part. While GT Sport looked great I still noticed some AA issues (I know it's still in development don't shoot me) but I'm wondering if this game will be 4K on the new rumoured PS4K. We already know PD love pushing resolutions and they have experience with testing GT games at 4K so they know exactly what is needed for this type of resolution. If so it's possible the FPS could be dropped from 60FPS to 30FPS to squeeze the extra pixels in. This could also be why some fine AA is missing in GT Sport at 1080p, once at the higher resolution this wouldn't be an issue and no need then to spend extra resources.

All of the above is speculation to the highest degree in my part and I have no insider knowledge at all, to be truthful don't listen to me and pass on by, I'm the equivalent of the homeless guy screaming about the end of the world, just roll your eyes and give a derisive snort on your way past.

This certainly would make sense. As you said, PD love to push resolutions. GT4 for example was one of very few PS2 games to breach the HD barrier. It would make sense if they wanted to be 4K console pioneers. :)

I saw the MX5 video. I am VERY impressed with the graphics. Not a huge improvement over GT6 (there was hardly anything to improve on), but little details such as shadows, textures, landscapes have been taken to a new level. BEautiful menus, excellent music, magnificent interface. It is definitely Gran Turismo.

Still not impressed with the sounds...

Bottom line, this might be the opening for the next great Gran Turismo, but I'm not sure I'm willing to wait another three to four years. By then, another new, better and bigger Forza will be out, or consoles will probably be dead. I doubt I will spend money on this game since I have Forza 6 for all my car enthusiast needs, and Pcars (and a G27) for driving pleasure. GTS seems a bit... meh... irrelevant... for now.

Aww, no top down motoring with the MX-5. :(

For people who didnt see the video of the MX5
There is another one with a comparaison with GT6
Edit: the sound is from GT6

Cool! Didn't catch the initial video.

Any word if there will be Practice and Qualifying offline? I just don't want to fall asleep while driving to that music. :sly:

Great video, love brands hatch, and it looks amazing here. Such a great lighting model.

As for this build vs copper box, as some have asked, they did mention updating builds all the time, but the quality of sounds depended on what you chose to drive at the event. I guess the sound guy is frantically updating all the car systems, which must be a tonne of work. Poor guy.

You could go to menus at the event and turn music off. I hope a GTP staffer managed to get a direct feed capture of only SFX.

Very excited about GTS now, I really miss playing it!

Alright guys, now that i decided to get myself a PS4, can you recommend me some games to play while waiting for GT Sport?

I already plan to get Driveclub with it but i wanna get some other games(not like my Xbox One, with only three One games and some 360 games.)
Project Cars is pretty good, though I haven't played it in a while. How about Dirt Rally? That game is awesome :)

I'm repeate myself but I like sound engine although they're still a bit clean.

For cons, sound of tires ..... Not bad but too loud !

Otherwise, I'm very impressed by visual. Everything is much better : lighting, texture, depth, color ..... Everything is more natural, more realistic. And it looks clean and stable. Flicker on GT6 began to hurt the eyes.

Agreed. PD still have time to make subtle tweaks to the game, so I'm pretty confident that GT Sport will provide a far greater driving experience than GT6 did.

Anyone met Darin from ISR there ? Heard/read a lot bad things about him :( The review incorrectly wrote Kaz name, Yamaguchi throughout the article  Don't know if intentional or not, but hard to believe ISR could get Kaz name wrong.
The article was written by "Marc Puc". Darin's sidekick maybe there?
That yamaguchi typo is quite a shame. Didn't notice it at my first glance in a hurry. :embarrassed:

That's not how it works. A 100 degree field of view is completely unnatural in any game unless you have triple screens or are literally sitting right in front of the screen. It takes 100 degrees of visual information and squeezes it into what should be a natural 30/40/50 etc. degree space depending on your home setup. Everything ends up unnaturualy stretched out and looks out of proportion.

In VR you are right up against the screen, your eyeballs are literally millimetres away.
