What do you think the analytical data said about the Supra?

A shining example is the complete opposite of what Pcars control input method is on pad. I hope they stay far away from that.
It gives options to fine tune, only played briefly with pad on default but found it much more enjoyable than GT6 with one. Only used wheel on default settings and it works great for me too.

It doesn't take away from my point though. The input method was not intuitive at all, and horribly optimized for pad users. I recall not being able to change the settings in game either, so you would have to change them in the menu, go into the game and see if they worked, and if not you had to go all the way back out to make minor changes and repeat the process. That is not good in any way.

Haven't tried changing the settings myself either for pad or wheel so don't know about that. All I know is there are a lot of options that seems to help people get it to how they like. Rather this than being stuck with controls and feedback I don't like with only saving grace being it will bad for others too with same controller so levels playing field to an extent.

With how bad the pad's where on PCars, and the hoops you had to jump through just to get it at a decent level, I'd much prefer the option of having it good from the get go, and not being able to change it. If anything, PD can do it like they've always done it but maybe add the option for customization. Still, I'd like for them to stay far and away from the horribly optimzed input method that Pcars brought.

Pcars may have had the better options concerning this, but it was just plain bad in general. They are not the shining example you're making them out to be in this aspect.

PCars by far had the worst Controller setup of any racing game i ever played. And having all those options isnt good either because its everything but user friendly. When you have to google to setup the controller because its that complex isnt something good.

Yes, you dont have any options in Gran Turismo to setup the controller - but the point is that you dont need any, because it works perfectly by default!

Personally find it a lot better than GT to me. I had a little competition with my brother once and surprised how good the controls where, found in the end quite hard to beat time even with steering wheel afterwards. It was interesting to see how he did compared to say other games, pCARS he was better than in GT6 but he became a really bad driver in Forza 5.

Just had a quick search on YouTube and first video that I watched was this one, seems pad control is good for person playing and looks good to me.

DRIVECLUB I would say though is probably the best intelligent controller steering and feedback I've experienced so if GT sticks to limited steering options then something clever like that one I would find it quite an enjoyable experience.

I personally find it unbearable. However, that was very early in the game before the patched things here and there. Still though, wasn't the PC always better optimized than the console version of the game? That can be where the differences are coming from. GT and FM's take on the input method is nearly identical, where as simulation steering in Forza resembles that of Pcars input method, both of which I do not like.

What settings is he using? Is this right at release of the game? How much tweaking was necessary in order to get it to a fairly decent point? was this after the patch was released to fix handling issues on pad? There's too many variables, and that's why you shouldn't use someone else's videos with so little information to try to explain something that you yourself are talking about. However, If I find a bad video, does that make me right? No it doesn't.

Either way, it is a wide known issue that has plagued the game and just because they have the options to make it better, doesn't take away from the fact that it seems like they did very little get it working fairly well for pad users. Instead, it actually seems like they didn't do much of it at all, and fell back on the customization of the settings to let the users figure it out on there own. It's not a fun process, and it's the main reason why I say that I hope it's not an example that PD follows. I'd be all for customization in more games, as long as the controls are actually optimized in the first place.

Think Xbox One version was the only one to have problem with steering at launch IIRC. GT and FM approaches seem to me still quite different. Simulation Forza is not much like pCARS steering to me. pCARS to me offers a lot more control to the driver on how they want to turn. I think that is why I like it much more as it lets me drive more like how I want like when using steering wheel while say GT is quite restrictive.

The person explains quite well I thought in video how long he has played, he said a few minutes configuring and it's really playable. It was launch day when uploaded, quite a easy video to understand if you listen to what he says.

I think you may be correct that it seems to happen more on the Xbox, but I've seen post about it from PS4 users as well, so it's probably just not as prominent. GT and FM's approach concerning input methods is different? I can't seem to tell a difference between them. They both offer fairly intuitive input methods with a good amount of dampening to produce desirable inputs on the pad. Where as simulation brings in a more direct 1:1 method, something very similar to how Pcars feels. This is all speaking strictly from a pad user, not wheels, though.

I have no speakers, and the reasons I asked for an explanation of what you feel is because I'm talking to you not the video. You always try to escape having to explain yourself because of lack of experience, so you pull some random video off the internet to try to say what you can't.

So it seems just like what I said, in order for you to get a desirable effect you have to change the settings of the game. It is not fun, it is not good, it's not user friendly, and it's horribly optimized and it is definitely not a shining example. That is something that PD should steer clear of if they want to implement custom settings.

Yea at default settings. But i found a controller setup the day i got the game. It feels great to me.

Me and my boyfriend both funded Pcars before release, and the controls where bad then for a control pad. And things where not much better on a wheel either. Both required a lot of tweaking to get something resembling "nice". Things a little better since all the after release updates, but it is still a pain to set up. The FFB settings on a wheel take an age to get nice, and the controls on a pad take just as long. It is a case of SMS giving far too many options, but then the community who funded Pcars cause this issue by asking for all these additional options. SMS should have just put in settings that "worked", but giving an adjustment for speed sensitivity and filtering. That was all that was needed for adjustment on a control pad.

As for a wheel and the FFB, they really went overboard with what is adjustable. Assetto Corsa is much simpler to set up, even on a control pad. And the FFB by default is vastly superior to Pcars. In my opinion, Devs of racing games should look towards Kunos and Assetto Corsa as an example of how to add options for a control pad and options for setting up a wheel and the FFB. That includes T10 and PD!

Play Pcars on a Pad requires some time to get it right, if you know what you're doing. If you're like me, you'll have to google how to make it work in a acceptable way, and that's so boring.

I lost about two hours to get my FFB right in my T300, and the fact that on every single car i had to remake, and then a uptade came and it all got on the garbage.

So no, Pcars isn't a example of how a racing game should behave on a pad.

I'm going by pad experience. FM is quite strict on when it lets you steer so get scenarios where it won't turn much even when it should be easy to make the corner still. Don't get that with pCARS.

Like I said, I did not change the settings and I quite liked how it was on default whether wheel or pad. It also gives options so that people like in video with a few minutes of tweaking can get it more to their liking. I rather have option of spending a few minutes of tweaking to get it to level I like than not being able to make changes and stick with it for life of game.

I guess it comes down to preference, I found default settings really good on wheel and pad and haven't tried tweaking. Assetto Corsa however I had to do some tweaking due to a lot of wheel vibration.

Because you have no problem doesn't take away from the fact that this is one big problem that has been plaguing the community for some time now. This is something that should be avoided at all cost, and following how PCars approached it is not the right move. More options is nice, but saying that it's a shining example is just wrong. I was never arguing about the options available, more so that Pcars is horrible with the input method. Having more options doesn't automatically mean that it's better, it just allowed you to actually fix a problem they themselves caused.

Like I said though, I would much rather have a properly working input method that requires no changing, and that you're not allowed to change, rather then get one that is absolutely dreadful on pad and that you'd have to go around searching for a decent set up for. What's horrible about it is that the settings are only available for changing through the games main menu, rather than the pause menu. Still, I've mentioned plenty of times that I'm fine with more options.

Out the box I find it better than GT and Forza. It is good that game gives option to change from absolutely dreadful to decent. I can't tweak simulation steering in Forza to be any better than it is when it comes to countersteering for example and that's fixed likely for life of title. Much worse scenario to be in as a pad player IMO.

I'm having a bit of a hard time believing that you found out of the box to be better and more intuitive than Gt and Forza. If that's your preference though, that's fine.

You can't tweak a mode that gives countersteering sensitivity a 1:1 ratio with your inputs on pad, no, but you can use normal mode so that the dampening helps with counter steering. That is enough option to get things working properly. It's very easy to choose, and it is in no way a worse scenario as the set-up for steering is already nice and fluid from the get go. If the problem is with countersteering, in which simulation removes the damper that makes the countersteering like that, then stick to normal. It's very easy to overcome.

Also, one thing I'd like to point out is that Simulation steering is no where near as bad as it was concerning countersteering, now. It has since been changed in an update, and me, the one that has always talked down on it, have been testing it for the past month or so.

However, you seem to be missing my point. I'd like options, yes, as long as the people that make the game at least make the steering nice and intuitive from the get-go. Something that Pcars doesn't do for many people.

It is more like wheel direct steering which I prefer.

Watching this, Alan preferred the default steering settings for the car he was driving in the video. It is quite easy to choose different input modes too which to me is quite a user friendly experience to me. I hope GT SPORT allows more options like pCARS.

One guy from russian community asked GT's facebook page about their silent and here is the answer.

That answer... doesn't look good at all... I don't know, I getting a bad feeling about this, let's just hope it's a simple case of stomachache on my part , and hope that they're really getting close to share something

It's a private message, yes.

Hmm, shouldn't it still have the verifed tick? I dunno it seems fishy to me, a couple of people suggest it might be down to someone else with no evidence to support it then hey presto, Sony are referencing other parties in a message the next day.
