As a market leader Sony doesn't have to rush with Neo. They will also protect PS4 sales this way. Maybe PS4 price drop incoming at E3..
And above all, Sony has to sell PS VR....

The idea was kicked about that Kaz and PD have adopted a system called Physically Based Rendering and it has required a massive rewrite of that assets, essentially almost like starting over. It would explain why the old premiums didn't make it into GT Sport among other things. Don't know if it's true or not but there has to be some explanation for the low car count (by GT standards of the last decade). What I can't understand is why has it taken PD 3 years to bring out another GT game after all the talk from Kaz how programming on the PS3 was a nightmare and that development would be much easier on the PS4? If we continue to keep to the trend of 3 years in between sequels then are we looking at end of 2019 as being the timeframe for GT7??
You mean Ubisoft?
Everything I've read has the Neo coming in just over 4 TF and Scorpio targeting 6 TF. I can't find a single source that says any different. Do you have one?I think specs are almost identical between Neo and Scorpio.
The difference will be on "clocking" of GPU. According to leaks, both consoles will have tAMD RX480. And the new AMD card, clocked max (without overclock) develops ... 5.5TF.
Exactly what Microsoft wants to have.
For PS4 Neo, according to leaks again, clocked to 900Mhz. So :
2306 x 2 x 0.9 = 4.15TF.
Shader Units (2306 in RX480) x 2 x Clock speed in GHZ / 1000
On PC, 2306 x 2 x 1.2 = 5.5TF.
Sony can go further but clocker max may pose heating and energy consumption problems. It will be less easy. But they can do if they make a bigger console.
In addition, Microsoft will probably continue with DDR3 which is a disadvantage compared to GDDR5 in the calculation.
I really hope we will see Kevin Butler back at Sony's E3 this year speeching on GT Sport
Such a great PR character 👍
So they're "targeting" 1.3 GHz.
EDIT: that's just over double the thermal load of 900 MHz.
Thought this is relevant http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1229880
Gears's playable network beta now looks much better, nothing to say this is the case with GTSport but it goes to show that with optimization and final builds games tend to look better......... well unless it's developed by you know who.
So they have built the whole game from scratch on PS4. Will this mean do you think that any further new releases for GT Sport on PS4 will come out quicker now they have the hard work done andl it will be done by upgrading the original game like Drive Club did. i.e frequent DLC/new tracks but not new game each year and the Sport franchise will grow and GT 7 may even disappear?
I may consider buying this digitally this time not on Disc..Which format are most of you guys going to buy? Digital or Old School Disc.

If RAM bandwidth is already an issue, then making the processor faster will only make that worse. You end up with a PS3-like situation where you can't feed the processor fast enough and have to resort to compressing stuff and uncompressing it on the fly, falling short of the true potential of the processor.Probably trying to compensate for DRR3 speed.

If memory clocks are an issue, they could widen the bus of each unit, or simply add memory modules to the same effect and increase the quantity of RAM at the same time. That requires better management of assets within the memory to ensure maximal use of available bandwidth, so a single 256-bit bus instead of the four 64-bit ones would be an improvement already.
The PS4 uses a similar 4x64-bit memory setup, so it might actually be a limitation of the AMD SoC's memory controller...

From where did you get this ? PS4 to PS4Neo is a big jump but Xbone to Scorpio or Xbone 2 is a huge, more than 3times the performance ?? Price of PS4 Neo will be less than 500$ for sure not sure.
New Trailer!
Remember it's only 51% complete right now /sThe game has LOTS to live up to if they're going to use the GT4 opera intro.
