So, in the Trailer, videos and screenshots thread we won't be able to write?

I don't know, you guys was going really hard on him for such a little thing....

The point was to tone down and don't spam images, don't reply quoting the image, don't post the same image, don't post huge gifs and don't insert huge images but rather small thumbnails or links.

To be conscious about it bogging down the page and post the media in a smart way. It wasn't a personal attack but he took that way.

Or maybe he didn't but feeling like he can't post media at all he left.

I love media. It's a poweful tool in forums. I like to use them. I like when other people use. From all the forums I post, that's the first time I need to handle this situation. People upset because someone lost their time to make a cool media to share with other people who are interested in the same subject. I'm shocked.

But if that's how things works here, then don't worry. I'm leaving the forum.

See you guys on the track when GTS releases.

If that's really what you want to do, nobody's going to stop you.

There's no reason to be so dramatic though: people aren't upset you took the time to make the gifs. They're simply suggesting this thread not get bogged down with an abundance of multi-MB files. That's all. :)

Even when you got those, you cant expect them to be stable even most of the time.

The real problem is that GIFs are just heavy to load. Simple as that.

Judging by the 'Likes', the gifs of @jpbonadio are a success...

No one is denying they are popular, but a hallmark of GTP is that the site is user friendly and organized. Spamming up discussion threads with video/gif content when there are threads dedicated to just such a thing makes GTP slow and cumbersome on mobile and slower computers. People get into a discussion thread and a video here or there is fine and doesn't hold up the page loading too much. If things are slow loading because discussion threads are overwhelmed with video content people will avoid the thread on the slower tablets, phones and pcs.

I'am a bit sad just after reading for few pages and I found the thread is debating whether is it good or bad to post a tons of GIF images here. Personally I like what @jpbonadio does, he give us some spotlight to what is on the game that currently in development, but others were right, it will slower your internet connections and it's almost taking forever to see the GIF if you using a mobile phone. The solution might be just give the URL for the images so people can decide they want to open it or not. Or you can post both, in Trailer-Video-Screenshots thread you can directly post the GIF images to the thread and in discussion thread you post only the shortcut link to the images.

It s just a link, it doesnt slow down the loading... Think next time

No its not, its a fully loaded embeded Gif, and when there are plenty on the screen, it really slows things down. Think and actually look next time.

it will slower your internet connections
I have a 60mb connection, I'm not so sure it has to do with that.

If the first reference to GIF posting was not sarcastic, as if JP is supposed to know this problem for some users, the tone would have been completely different. If JP didn't know it was a problem for mobile and donkey laptops, how is he supposed to take this post?

Man, if only there was a thread that contained screenshots, videos and the like for people to continuously dump gifs into....

He probably didn't know the reason why and lost his **** thinking he'd been singled out, did not help when all the others jumped on the band wagon (even though most have posted and liked GIF themselves). Anyway, in the future when I post a GIF or video in this thread (and I will at some point) I might as well tell you all now, I don't care what your situation is.

If you post one every now and again then I'm not sure anyone will bat an eyelid. However, if 4 of your posts in a row all contain gifs then you'll more than likely get the same reaction.

Well, I don't have as much that you had, but what I want to say is supposed to be some people have slow internet connection and waiting for the images to load is taking quite long though :(

Anyway that's just my thought and maybe I'am wrong. Please don't take it seriously ;)

Show me this 4 in a row.. I see 2 over 2 days with pages in between. Hardly excessive use by any stretch. What am I missing here? Anyway, if by some miracle I did post 4 GIF posts in a row, No, still wouldn't care as long as I thought it was relevant. Say what you like, struggle past them, add me to your block list, choice would be yours. 👍

I really don't understand why this is becoming an issue now. What, are people suppose to feel bad because one user didn't known his gif posting would've become a problem at some point? Well he should've known better then. It's fine for him to post gifs in this thread, but he also has the screenshots/trailers thread and options (such as Quote) to put them in. To keep constantly adding gifs in each post he makes in one page is going to cause slow downs on certain people with slow or weak devises/computers (hell it happened to me on my phone).

I honestly don't feel bad at all if he's going to act like he can't do this or that anymore when nobody told him to do any of that. All we simply asked him to do was to tone down on the gif posting, and that was it. Please let's try not to drag this thread down because of one user...

Click on the dudes name and check his posting history two instances in the past 24 hours of 4 of his posts in a row in the same thread all containing media. And you might not care but if a mod posts to say it's an issue they might care 👍

It s weird, the gif is not animated on the forum for me, i have to see it on Imgur by clicking the thumbnail

First off, you said GIFs, secondly, judging by the likes many people thought they were relevant, and the space in between in which they were posted, in my book it's justified. Until the rules change, he's not breaking any, it's just tough on you guys. 👍

From what I've seen, I'm starting to think that GT Sport may end up at least better than GT6 & GT5. I need to see more of the game before I can be completely sure, but I don't know; this game has been giving me different kinds of feelings in comparison to the previous GT titles. Right now, it still doesn't seem exactly worth buying at launch, but its getting there.

Even if it doesn't play immediately on mobile as it does on a desktop, it's essentially treated like an auto-play video (though if you download it from imgur, you get the original gif). Mobile users don't get a choice: the page loads the entire file.

Your attitude in the earlier post is not needed.

If we're going by likes... :P

You're right though: he isn't/wasn't breaking any rules. I never suggested otherwise. It was simply a reminder that media-heavy posts can be a problem for other users, and we should all try to take that into consideration in a thread titled General Discussion, especially when there's another thread constantly near the top of the pile dedicated to media.

It's disappointing that the response to this suggestion is to pack up and leave the forum.

*snip*

Y'know, if that's nothing but Scape shots, I'd be moe than fine with it. I've got a few coffee table books on cars, much to my girlfriend's chagrin, and I've been toying with the idea of printing out one filled with my own Photomode stuff from all the games I've played. One curated by Polyphony would hardly be a bad thing...

But ugh, "The Gran Turismo Magazine Apex" is more than a little awkward in its wording!

You know what bugs me...

The lack of metallic fleck within metallic paint in the game. The colours to me feel too gloss like.

I assume you mean flake. If so, I do agree its abit lacking. Their should be abit more textural difference, though I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Stop bashing and complaining about that Peugeot :P The only thing you guys will see from it online are its taillights

Indeed, it'll be all I see of the car as it gets Piled in the wall while I drive right past it on lap 1 ;)

I'd like GTPlanet branded shoes and a hoodie too please :D Putting some respeck on it.

:P

@Streeto a person can be a Cancer. It's their sign. Like some are Scorpio, and I'm a Taurus.

Edit: No Ford puns intended.

Whatever you say, James ;)

everybody start suggesting porsches now!!

You are many years behind on that

I tell you what is a pain on mobile browsing GTP, it ain't pages loading, it's switching between threads. So in my humble opinion, @jpbonadio was treated way too harshly. For me, they are very very useful to see in this main discussion thread.

He obviously puts a lot of effort into making those gifs and the tone of a few of you was a bit out of order.

Not trying to police when it ain't my job, but just, you know, don't be an ass.

Apologies to the swear filter.

:gtpflag:

Why are we talking about gifs?
Stupid. Totally irrelevant to the thread.

Anyway, at least we can see how PD are changing up the track atmosphere for the better.

From the drivers stats page it would appear that finally someone (PD) has implemented the best online racing format, such as the one iRacing use. I am in shock that PD are the first to use some brain cells and have copied iRacing format to ensure clean online racing. Clean first corner racing is a massive problem (like global warming) in all open lobbies and the only way to get good racing was to get to a private lobby/Legaue. GT sport is gonna make life so much simpler and kudos to PD.

In the photo there is safety rating points (sportsmanship points), and driver class rating and driver skill level.
Now with is to be able to automatically race with clean drivers who can lap at a quick speed but without having to organise private leagues is a major bonus.

hopefully this is gonna be an end to the "guaranteed first corner Pile ups" and the standard of racing can only improve.

i have unfortunately already paid $700 for iRacing content in February and its good to see others will benefit from that structure but for a game that is a lot less money.

:gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag::gtpflag:
The hell did you buy?

it's commendable that PD have introduced a Bmw pace car for the race, it will make it safer, not necessarily more exciting. What they should of done instead is not bothered with the safety car and instead have introduced grid girls. Preferably of varying nationalities. That would push the graphics far beyond what PCARS or assetta corsa have
