I find it incredibly bizarre how angry some people are that GT6 won't be receiving anymore VGTs - the program isn't being killed off, and all* of the previously released models will be available in the new iteration, which is pretty much 100% guaranteed to be prettier and more accurately simulated than before.
I think it's because at the launch of GT6 it was advertised that all the VGTs would be added to the game over the course of the next 12 months. Which sucks, but stuff happens and deadlines get missed so it's not the end of the world.
But to totally ignore completing a feature simply because the game isn't the flavour of the month? I find it incredibly bizarre that people consider that to be acceptable behaviour for a company. I paid for GT6 and by extension for the VGTs that it was advertised as having included. To have them shuffled off to another game and to be told to buy another disk to have access to them strikes me as incredibly disrespectful and dismissive of the customer.
It's not about whether the cars would be better in GTS, they absolutely would be. It's about Polyphony sticking to what they said they would give for the price of a full game.
Put it this way, if they say that they're going to be adding another 20 VGTs to GTS, how can you possibly trust that you won't end up getting ten of them and the other 10 being pushed to GTS2?
Some people may be OK with that from a company, and from this thread some people obviously are. I am not. I like aspects of the Gran Turismo games, but I really, really don't like the abusive corporate attitude that is starting to influence their releases.
Also, Kaz is a liar? Can't remember who wrote that, but get over yourself. The guy aint exactly Molyneux eh.
No, he isn't. But he's also not exactly trustworthy as a source of information about his own game. He says a lot of stuff that may well have been true when he said it but turned out to be false in the fruition of time. That's not exactly professional.
He also does a fair impersonation of Molyneux in how he complains about his past games and hardware as soon as there's a new one to sell. Expect him to regale us all about how difficult it was to make GTS as soon as GTS2 is ready to come on sale.
And It's not like you didn't get a decent amount of stuff for your $60 with GT5 and GT6.
Like many, you're missing the point. It's not whether what you got was acceptable value. It's that the customer made a value judgement when purchasing based on the information that they were given, part of which was the VGT program.
Probably most people would have still bought the game knowing that the VGTs weren't going to be in there. Possibly some wouldn't. But everyone was denied the chance to accurately gauge the value of the game because Polyphony doesn't complete the features and content that the game is advertised to come with.
You may be happy with what you got and that's fine, but it's also fine for people to feel that they were misled into buying a product that ultimately wasn't what it was advertised to be.
For me, the VGT program was the most engaging and interesting part of GT6 at release. It was somewhat of a disappointment, and I remain even more disappointed that I don't even get to see all of it without buying a new console and game. That, for me, is BS.
