Gran Turismo Sport: General Discussion

Even though Kazunori stated PD prepared alot of "offline content", it still doesn't make Gran Turismo Sport, the traditional Gran Turismo. Gran Turismo Sport has the livery editor, but it does not have Tune Shop, which is still disappointing. Gran Turismo Sport is fundamentally different. Gran Turismo Sport is FIA sanctioned, so it has to likely adhere to rules and standards.

I still believe Gran Turismo Sport isn't Gran Turismo 7, and that Polyphony is working on a spectacular traditional GT game. :)

Kaz was interviewed in Hong Kong several hours ago。I translated the most important answers into English。

”Sport Mode" is very friendly for new comers. the rookies of racing game need not to worry about the extreme
difficulty which often appears on other racing games, they can enjoy the game first. With the help of a delicated mechanism, the racing techinique level of new comers will be increased naturally and quickly.

PD plans to hire a professional F1 racing coach to work for the game. Once a gamer win the chance to enter the finals pf FIA-Gran Turismo Championships,he/she will be trained by the hired F1 coach before the finals begin。

PD have prepared a lot of offline gaming contents to make the old fans happy, the traditional pleasure of GT series is still there.

Kaz will appear in Shanghai this afternoon, maybe he can tell us more at that time。

Thanks for that.:gtpflag:

I honestly am not worried about offline content because we don't know what plans PDI has prepared for us. There could be Seasonal Races and various rotating events for us to experience or perhaps they haven't revealed all of what GT Sport has to offer.

Pre order this game sounds like an act of faith lol. Poly : "There are cars and tracks in our game! please pre order."

After what PD did I honestly thought there would be more by pre ordering it. Nope, just a mini GT game for people to play until the next GT comes out.

It's really awkward this 15 tracks thing.

When they announced GTS, the release date isn't that far away. I hope it's a mistake by the game who made the slides.

Sadly I would've wanted to be earlier than November 15th because to me having the amount stuff now is not alot it shouldn't be so far away for a release date.

I'm pretty surprised to hear this but since it's from Kaz, I'm taking it with a pillar of salt the size of Lot's wife. Anything that isn't bigger than GT5 and GT6's career modes is unacceptable to me.

I think the total lack of original tracks like Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring, Autumn Ring, Deep Forest, Grand Valley Speed Ring. Special Stage Route, Clubman Stage Route, Tahiti Maze etc, signals, Gran Turismo Sport is not Gran Turismo 7 and is just an appetizer game. There is no way, Polyphony would release a Gran Turismo game, without the original tracks.

That is just an enormous deal breaker for me.

Huh. While it says 60 events on the side, it still says 62 in the menu on the left.

Really wondering about the track situation. 15/27 would put it just slightly above the original GT (9/21), but every other full title has done more. FM5 launched three years ago with 14 locations, but had 42 variations. It ended with 17/63 after the free updates over the following year. I wonder if PD will charge for new tracks — in an eSports-focused game, I'm really not sure if that'd be a good or bad decision.

Perhaps GT Sport will be a service, a la DriveClub? Interesting times.

“Once you enter the finals, you will be trained by a F1 trainer”,It makes me crazy

The slide is not going to be wrong. They reused the exact same slides as from previous events for the vast majority of the presentation, the only reason to change any would be because something on the old ones changed. Otherwise why would someone make a new slide for the tracks and also manage to get it wrong?

As for offline I'm not sure why people are suddenly getting their hopes up, Kaz is obviously still just referring to the Campaign mode which does indeed contain familiar stuff - licenses, challenges etc. You're only setting yourself for disappointment if you think he's suddenly talking about a full classic offline career.

Suppose that's true, maybe these 4 tracks will not be completed on time....

Anyway, PoDi will add content after release. It doesn't change much, in the end.

How can four locations being cut not change much?!?!? Because they might be DLC? At some point? It's 20% of the initial number, that is a significant cut.

Traditional pleasure offline? Well, i think in endurance racing...(300 km of Grand Valley for a start...)

So what could it be now?
  1. Northern Isle Speedway (1)
  2. Brands Hatch (2)
  3. Willow Springs (2)
  4. Nurburgring (2)
  5. Unnamed dirt track location (4)
  6. Tokyo (2)
  7. Suzuka (2)
  8. Circuit de la Sarthe (1)
  9. Monza (2)
  10. Spa (1)
  11. Silverstone (3)
  12. Bathurst (1)
  13. Red Bull Ring (1)
  14. Grand Valley (2)
  15. Tsukuba (1)
Really hard to decide where the cuts would be, however you do it you're losing some big popular tracks as well as the tracks that didn't seem like they'd need much work to get to PS4 standard. To get to 19 it was easy to cut away the old PS2 tracks but to get to 15, not so easy.

There is also no room for more new tracks unless you cull the old tracks even further. Could they skip Sarthe owing to its size, maybe Grand Valley if they're going to cut away all old fictional tracks?

Why 4 dirt?

I can't believe they haven't even shown us one single glimpse of a new track yet. Not even a scape at a new track...
A bit worried about this now! I see a delay incoming...

It was really the only way I could get up to the 27 locations being reasonable with the others. It's only a guess of course but I figure they've split whatever they had up into shorter sections/loops. Although I did forget about the smaller Red Bull Ring loop, so that's another possibility.

Still though the simple fact is we now have only 9 more locations to see, serious cuts required from GT6.

A service? More like a nightmare for me.

Damn, I didn't realized about track reduction few hours ago. Seriously, SONY should DELAY this game at this point! :(
Losing 4 track locations is really fatal reduction, esspecially for GTS that already planned to have less content than previous GT and still charge us to pay $60.
